Is your city dangerous?

now you sound like the government.it dosent matter how ilegal you make it people are still going to find a way to do what they want,just like the war on drugs remeber the 80's and the crack epedmic if you were caught with say a $20 rock you would get a extreme punishment but say you had a 8ball coke you wouldnt be looking at the same time.drugs have been ilegal for years and some how there still around and no matter the punishment it will still go on.so i beleive the same thing on guns you can go ahead and make a death sentance for posesing a firearm but guess what im still gonna have mine just like how i smoke weed and its ilegal.i dont think i will live to see the the day that america land of the free will outlaw firearms, this country was built by the gun.so wrap your head around that:thumbsup:

That pretty much sums up the problem, and a common attitude...

I am not a gun owner but I believe strongly in the US's Second Amendment (the right to bear arms.)

What if someone walks up behind you, sticks a gun in your back...
What if someone comes into your house with a gun, intending to kill you and rape your wife...?
What if there is a madman running through your college with guns, killing random people?

We can make up scenarios all day. There is more than one situation where to have a gun would be good. You can better defend yourself against armed violence with arms.

On gun bans: When you take guns away from the good-law abiding citizens, the people left with the guns are the criminals, and police. Any good law abiding citizen who keeps their gun has suddenly become a criminal. Sound familiar? Look at yourself, look around you. You are a criminal, you drug addict, you pothead.

When the populace is well-armed, violent crime decreases.

Another good reason to own a gun is defense against tyranny. What did the Nazis do before rounding up the Jews? They took their guns, so they couldn't fight back. Do you think our governments are possibly devolving into tyranny? Socrates said, "Tyranny rises out of democracy, and the most extreme forms of oppression and slavery out the most extreme liberty."

A lot of the crime around here is caused by fugitives of the law from other countries coming here to hide. I wouldn't even call them illegal immigrants, they are just bastards. Around Cape Cod, it seems Hyannis and Bourne can be pretty nasty at times. Where I grew up in Hawaii, Chinatown was pretty nasty. There are a lot of crack whores wandering around, and homeless people out of their minds addicted to meth. Probably the most dangerous place on Oahu at night, Palolo Valley projects. When I lived there, the Bloods and Crips were pretty big. There were a lot of posers, but a lot of real gangs. One of my buddies was in the Bloods, and he killed someone because he was a big drug dealer in the Crips. But, Hawaii is a pretty nonviolent state. People are more likely to punch you in the face than shoot you in the back.

Yea man, so many people getting killed every day, its crazy. The person who lived in my current house before me was killed in a home invasion. We saw the bullet holes in the basement before the renovators fixed it up.

The streets are pretty bad but as long as you walk on them with confidence people will usually leave you alone. It can get scary at night though.

You're either joking or your delusional. You don't think a VAST majority of gun owners would give up their guns if the punishment for possession of a firearm was stiffened drastically, like, say, to a death sentence? Are you serious? For that matter, you said you still smoke weed even though it's illegal, but would you still smoke weed if possession of a gram meant a death sentence? I think not.

Well as long as so many people agree with your idea that we're all safer if everyone's packing, I'm not so sure that you (or I) will live to see tomorrow. Sure, this country was built on the gun (and slavery as well, though I don't think that makes it acceptable), mainly because it was basically under martial during its early years due to the lack of law enforcement and prevalence of Native Americans who weren't about to give up their land without a fight (and rightly so). The federal government barely had the funds to function on any level, much less protect each individual citizen.

Nowadays, the government is MUCH better equipped to protect it's citizens, as evidenced by the billions of dollars they are able to throw at the so-called war on drugs. Wrap your head around this: the positive of being able to go and quite easily buy a gun to "protect yourself" is far outweighed by the negative of the fact that it's WAY WAY easier for a criminal or potential criminal to buy a gun if the government makes it legal. That might not have been the case when this country was founded, but it certainly is now, and has been for some time.

Well... the video is from a TV show called "Cidade Alerta" (Alert city), which shows only the worst things that happen, like accidents with lots of deaths, heinous crimes, and such...
Anyway... that video shows the endless war between police and drug dealers in my city. I pity the cameraman which had to stay in such dangerous situation, just for recording it...
The video was made some 2-3 years ago, but the war continues. Some days ago i was in the house of one of my aunts, which is near some places dominated by the drugs dealers, and there was happening some confrontation, probably between dealers from different groups... anyway... from 1am to almost 4am i heard lots and lots of shots, from several kinds of weapons... there was also bombs, one of which did make the windows of her apartment shook (and its almost 1 mile far from the place where the confrontation was happening...)
