So should she go free and the DA and judge ignore it because it might cost too much money and the press are going to spend too much time? Well I feel for the taxpayers of LA county and California so I would like to see how much that hearing on Friday cost. However, right now I don't think that she should have been ignored because then that would be sending the message that a double standard does exist: If your family gives the sheriff a donation then he can make it difficult for the judge to impose sentence so here for $1000 a year you too can get out of DUI. I could afford that but that doesn't make it right.

Nick Nolte, Mel Gibson, Tracy Morgan, Wynonna Judd, to name a few, were arrested and never did a day in jail after their initial arrests for drunk driving /DUI /DWI charges. Rappers Busta Rhymes and Eve still walk free after both being arrested for the same charges as Ms. Hilton just this past week.
Everyone gets a slap on the wrist for their first DUI (most cases). Doesn't her camp understand she is not being punished for the initial arrest, she is being punished for subsequent violations since the initial sentencing. So yeah Mel got a slap on the wrist but he either hasn't been driving or caught driving since the initial arrest or got a provisional license to drive to work.
