there used to be a little ceasars pizza place near my high school and after band practice I would head on over there and find whole pizzas still warm after they had closed. but once I found a ziplock bag full of green pepper slices. I LOVE GREEN PEPPERS! They LOOKED clean so I went ahead and ate them right there, without washing them. a few hours later, i was making camp in the bathroom with a serious case of the runs. i learned my lesson right away.
tonight i went to a vegan potluck dinner where I was served shepherds pie made from the potatoes we found. good stuff.
wow, I'm sorry bizzle for my april fool's joke comment. I'm not sure I'd ever dumbster dive unless I really had to. One of my last dealers use to Dumpster dive in vancouver, he knew all the best spots at all the best times. Its amazing what people just throw out. But I don't think I could even eat a pre packaged sandwich from the garbage, unless it was really necessary.....

I've used to do it all the time years ago, but at construction sites, we'd get good pieces of wood and make big treeforts. But once i stepped on a nail, it went thru my shoes into my food
Hurt sooo bad. SOOOOOO much blood, but i was OK. Just had to bike home using the heel of my food.

A few years back I use to hit local computer stores dumpsters, I've found some cool stuff mainly monitors and drives some worked some not.
I quit tho it felt embarrassing.

i can't believe that some people seem to be offended by another's hobby.I don't care if you eat dumpster food,I don't care if you go to Yale.......either way I'm just going to live my life.I would be willing to bet that the guy in the dumpster smiles alot more the the college kid,And i would bet that he is a better person(maybe not).Bottom line is ...if you can make yourself happy do it,and if it doesn't effect your life then who cares what another person does.(not talking about murder, rape etc. etc...)
p.s. question for the college guy.....if your life is so fulfilling(?)then why do you feel the need to get on here and bash anothers lifestyle?

Im not bashing anyones lifestyle. I honestly could care less. I have my own problems to worry about which are bigger than "which dumpster should I jump in?". There are worse people in this world than dumpster divers. I would be lying if I said that I have never been inside a dumpster to retrieve something. But I am tired of people who are 'so down on their luck'. 99% of the time they are bitching just to bitch. Yes, hard times suck, been there done that have the t-shirt. The sun will come up tomorrow and its up to noone but yourself to change that.
I think its odd how someone can 'judge' me without ever knowing me or the person i was talking about. If you saw him in person and talked with him for 10 minutes, you would agree 100%. Everyone always did and probably always will. If you don't think its embarassing to get sent home in HS for lice and ringworm, then I guess we live on different planets.
Don't get me wrong, you don't need to be a CEO to be happy. I enjoy my (poor) college life and my pot. But when you don't put forth your best effort in *anything*. Well I just have no pity for that. My parents are/were both teachers and like I said, examples of the benefits of education. My sister now works on the *cheap* in D.C. as a lobbyist for immigrant rights. Not exactly the snobby type. She helps people who need it.
Yet, she went to the same fuckin school. With a little heart and persistence you can do anything you want. If your goal is to dig in dumpsters and fight fleas your whole life......then by all means go right ahead. But don't expect me to approve of it or get much respect from people.
I used to dumpster dive in the back of 4wheelparts for shocks/springs/good used tires. I used to be 'awww poor thing' just like everyone else. Then i grew up a little and realized that noone in life is looking out for you but your own self. I am not afraid to voice my opinion. Life is hard. Learn some skills and use an ounce of motivation (whatever strain you prefer) you won't need to dig in dumpsters.
People put bodies/feces/diapers/rotten food/dead animals in dumpsters.
It gets to the point where it is no longer a question of lifestyle, but rather a question of health and cleanliness.
But, as I said before, I don't mind if you are diving for someone of value. Hell, if its worth it, I'll HELP you. But if you are so broke that you cannot eat, i will PERSONALLY buy you a sandwich and a soda or Personally teach you how to catch and clean wildlife so you can have a lifetime of free/cheap food. Your hands and a little willpower are all the help you need.
Again, I was never bashing anyone. Just giving my opinion which I am entitled to. I think i've said all I can say.

Once your old enuf Billionfold-
And you have some of the life experiences some of us older members have like Mrs. G/J and myself , you come back n give us all a holler . huh . You live w/ mom -n- dad son . Until your out in the real world and have to fend for yourself everyday , muchless when times are tight , you'll never even begin to understand .
1. = Why not help ppl. regardless of the source . Try it sometime ya brat . You'll feel good inside , and it was free !!!
2. = Your 2nd. question was already answered by B/L themselves . READ the whole thread !!!!
3. = "Why not go buy fresh" ? If you even began to realize the heinous waste we piss away every year that could help ppl. instead of sitting in a fuking landfill / why not help your fellow man ? It doesn't always have to cost you money to help out , or are you worried about writing it off on your taxes ?
4. = "I'm sure if they've no other way to get stuff, the people you're helping can go dumpster dive for the same half rotten apples or potatoes."
Once again read the whole thread !!!! The mentioned food was in wrapped containers , i saw no mention of ppl. eating rotten apples or potatoes .
5. = You need to come to Detroit next sunday and wrk w/ me at the Salvation Army Churchs soup kitchen for Easter Bro. You need to see how the other half lives , for real . You might even feel good about what you've done .
