Congrats chrissy that is good for only 7 months! Congrats K I should say. :)
The girls are starting to swell up. I lowered the light alot to bath each when they get their turn below the light. Tomorrow is the day. So the plants are going in the garage for a few hours, hopefully it helps with the mites. Then we are deodorizing and piling junk in and around the flower room and putting the dogs in the basement. So wish me luck.
(Earlier today)
So far things are under control. The dryers are apart, everything but the flower room and I'll deal with that in the next hour. The vegging plants and clones are going in the sealed hopechest upstairs. I'm crossing my fingers.
(Now)
The plants hav been in the garage for an hour now and still look fine, The guy called and said he's running late and should be here in an hour so we'll see... worse comes to worse we harvest early.
Did I metion my clones are hidden in the oven?lol
dont forget there there and pre heat your oven :DQuote:

Right on. Definitely curious about the mite situation.
Let's start with pics
Here or photobucket?
Northerns 41 days flower...
Oh wow! I just wanna eat 'em like a popsicle!
Afghanis 41 days in flower...
Chrissy, you have done a beautiful job, even moreso considering the obstacles you've had to overcome.
nice imagination and creativity with ur grow area :D
Ok we are having issuse with a few of the other pics so you are welcome to visit my photo bucket to see then or to trace a single plant back to the begining to see it's life.
First off thanks for stopping in and giving my grow a little bit of your time. If there is ever anything you want to know more about please speak up.
I'm doing this in slots of free time so I'm sorry if thing get a little confuing and takes a while.
Well the plants are now 77 days old and have been in flower for 41 days. I'm growing in sunshine mix 4 under a 400w hps in a room I build which you can see pictures of in my photo bucket. I've used Advanced nutrients 3 part system with carbo load, cal/mg, and big bud through veg and finally decided I didn't know what I was doing and followed their lite flowering instructions on their site, watering with plain water every 4 feeds. I try to keep the water at 6.7 pH and will adjust it when needed, I have had pH problems before.
Right in the begining of flowering I did some LST and tied them down a little I was trying to keep an even canopy but there is just no way with these two differnt strains.
As a result a few of my plants lost their tops or main colas, which were cloned and are now growing in my next generation of veg(see photo bucket).
Another problem I have had is MITES. I hate them. The plants came with mites as clones. Buddy stopped by with a box of clones and we had no set up ready, and I didn't know what mites were, so it took a few days after we set up to figure it out and it got to the point of webbings and dying leaves, not pretty. I picked up some Doktor Doom spray with that crysanthamum oil stuff in it. I spayedand, kept up with it till I thought they were gone but then the fuckers pop up again. So I would spray again, then they go away then come back. So a week ago I tried to freeze them in the bathroom for 15 minutes then sprayed them down with End all which apparently kills eggs. But my ladies are just too bushy, the mite traveled up the middle of the plants like a ladder. So I sprayed again, and the next day, and the next. That was a few days ago, I haven't found any mites since, but what if they're hiding?
Yesterday we had to shut to whole thring down and pull it all apart because a guy was coming to appraise the house. The only safe place we could put the ladies was in the gutted car in our uninsulated garage in the freezing blowing snow for 3 hours. We shoke them off before bringing them in. When H asked to see what mites looked like I searched but couldn't find a single egg. So I have high hopes. I really don't want to be spraying because I'm getting so far into flowering and even though they say it breaks down in a few days I still feel uneasy smoking it, but also don't want to be smoking webbing and mites.
Some one here is hungry so I'll let you all chew on this for a while and I'll continue this a little later and maybe answer some questions if there are any.
OK where was I. Oh yeah mite spray and smoking, which reminds me smoking. I have sampled a few times. The first was when I took clones three weeks into flower, I was trying to trim out scrawny stretched buds and I coulding stand to waste it. It was pretty good, got buzzed, wasn't too harsh. Yesterday we took a bit off the bottom again, trying to bulk up the top buds and because we were a little dry. Anyways I know know what it is like to smoke bud full of nutes. It burns funny, and is hack your lungs out harsh, it had a nice kick that lasted a while but a strange somewhat headaches sensation, anyways when you have none, it does the job.
As for the clones I took then 3 weeks into flower, 2 from each plant. Some I cut the bud off of and others I didn't. A day or two later they were exploding with mites, their weakened state from cloning let them run rampid. So that's one way I found out the ladies were infested. Half of those clones went because of the mite I wasn't going to fuck with the. now all but 2 have rooted in 12 days. But I think I have enough plants for my next crop so these were mostly experiment since I don't want to reveg them.
Hmm what else is there? Oh yeah I've had an interesting Mg deficiency to figure out. The plants were also burnt a few times during veg.
Now that I look at everything I've put these plants through I'm amazed that they are being as nice to me with their buds as they are. They've been quite frosty for a while. The Afghanis hairs are shiveling up and the Northerns are just starting. The Afghanis have short heavy bud, and the Northerns long Fat buds. I'm trying to watch the trichomes but have ran into a slight problem. when H was moving them in and out of his car yesterday he must have garzed the tips because the nice balls are mostly gone on the very surface of the top tiny leaves. This isn't much yeild wise but they were the best to see the tricomes. When I do havest I think I will do a gradual harvest in 2 stages leaving the later harvest a week later to stock up shaded buds. The plants are all getting nice and stinky and looking very yummy. H is getting super impatient and I have nightmears of finding he's chopped a main cola too soon. But I think I have him in check. I'm really hoping to get at least an ounce a plant. When we dry the weed it keeps it's size pretty well but it has to be pretty dry to be able to smoke it but hopefully that's just because the nutes are making it hard to burn.
Well thanks for sticking with me but I've run out of things to say right now, if I think of anything else I'll try to find time to post it, and I'll try later to get the rest of thise pics up.
You said a mouthful!
H is as bad as Papi. Tell him to have a little patience, yeah yeah, just a little patience...
The trick is to always have pot, then the temptation isn't as bad.
Here are some ad-libbed lyrics to the tune of the last verse. These are a little more appropriate than the real lyrics. :)
Did you happen to snap any photos of the plants w/ Mg def? I think I might have that in one of my NL plants so I'm going to get some epsom salts for their next feeding... but I'd like to be sure it's Mg def. It's hard to tell from lots of the stuff online and The Bible just has sketches of the defs (bastards).Quote:
I've been sneakin' small nugs at night,
Just tryin' to get a bit high.
If my woman ever finds me then I'm in some shit.
She doesn't like my tokin' small nugs one bit.
But there's nothin' to smoke, so what else can I do?
I don't like being sober any more than you,
So I sneak it,
Yeah-y yeah, I sneak it
Just this time...
AHAHAHAHA! Awesome lyrics CG!
crissy, the harshness is from clorophyl, not nutes. a good cure will straighten it out and make it smooth and tasty. no worries... in my exp., nutes will affect taste (floral, perfumy) and nothing else. also, the only nutes that i've noticed change the taste, are mg products. green light didn't. gh didn't. the alaska brand stuff i have didn't... just mg
mrs green, are you out there?:p
For the Mg go to my photo bucket and look for the purpling pics. If it is a Mg def the discoloration will take place between the veins and as it dies the tips of the leaves curl up. Hope that helps. Great lyrics, hopefully we don't have to "sneak it anymore"Quote:

whoa, whoa, hold up green, i never said mg was bad; only that it changed the taste without at least one week's flush and water schedule. do that, no probs, don't, you'll have perfumy bud. like pretty wildflowers :hippy:
Do you suppose the mg people do that on purpose to enhance the smell of regular flowers?
yes. i started a thread with your name on it ;)
Oh my. Okay, gonna help Papi with the plumbing, then go look.
omg! i've been plumbing all nite!
... small world :D i'll post a pic later. i made a 52-60 site aerocloner from stuff i found in the basement!
another one for the ghetto thread... sorry for hijacking crissy! didn't mean it, i promise ;)
love, Sky :abduct:
Ok thanks chrissy! I don't think it's Mg def after seeing your pics & looking at the bible again. -c :jointsmile:Quote:

So I did some transplanting today. Hopefully I can find the nice timing so my Northerns aren't so much bigger then the afghanis. I decided to have Mrs. Bin Laden instead of Jaz as a mom because her buds are so thick. So I trimmed some roots on Mrs. BL and FIMmed the 2 tallest branches(hopefully FIMming works this time)
Bella seems to be maturing faster than the other northerns, too bad he buds are so small, plus she's had the most struggles. The Afghanis pistils are 50% orange, and lokkinh about 50/50 milky so I think I'll water with just plain water tomorrow to start starving them and maybe by next weekend I can do the first chop of teh mature bud and leave the bottom maybe a week longer.
I'm having trouble seeing the tricomes properly so I think I'll be looking at other signs of maturity. Like 90% swollen calyxs, and 90% orange hairs. I'll keep looking at the trichomes but just incase I'm not seeing things right I have other standards to follow.
Bella had mites this morning!
Awwww:(
OK so I started starving the Afghans giving them only water. I think maybe next week for a harvest but if they have to go longer they'll just starve a little more. I've noticed a Calcium and Magnesium deficientcys in the Northerns, and a few of the bottom leaves are dying on the very bottom under everything on everyone. It only a leaf or two but it's starting. I haven't even noticed any yellowing really and am suprised, maybe my plants are farther off then I figure. Oh well we'll wait and see. I found mites on two of the northerns. These Northerns are way more susptible to deficiencies and pests than the Affs, and some more then others. Bella has the weakest immune system of all regaurding nutes and pest, and has small buds, but she clones so easy and seems to be really far ahead in maturation compared to the other plants. I think Mrs. BL was a good choice for a mother she all around pretty strong against everything and has nice weight on her. If the Affs do finish before the northern then next crop I'll put the northerns in first for a while so they all finish around the same time, plus that gives the Affs a chance to get some height. I'm really working on pruning and controling bush with those Affs for next grow by pinching out new shots that are trying to take over, I want to keep only th 4-5 colas on those going strait up, it's a challenge but I'm up for it.
I've learnt so much this grow already I can only hope to have an even better harvest next time.
Thanks for the visit, please feel free to share the love and let me know you're still there.
Peace
luvluvluvluvluv :p
I think they look like they have some time left, more than a week that is. Have you got a decent look at the trichs yet? I had to practice using my microscope for a week before I could get a good look at anything. It's still damn hard because my hands are not steady.
Too bad about the mites, they seem to be tough bastards to get rid of!
LOVE cg
Still living with a cheap mag glass. The Afghanis(short bushy ones) over half the hairs are dead and the calyxs are pretty swollen. I don't know if they'll be ready for next week but 1 more week after that and they are at 7 weeks. Buddys says they should be ready soon, but he's going by some one elses grow and how do I know that he is harvesting at the right time even if they are clones of those plants. So it's wait and see, but the starving has started, if they end up going 3 weeks without nutes at the end then I know there are no nutes left over the effect the final product. I would like to leave them as long as possible so they can get as big as possible.
Another discovery I have made about my grow is that I'm having heat problems. I was reading the elongated bud thread and the very tips of my plants have started to grow like that. And it makes sense since a week ago I really lowered my lights, so now I moved them up a bit and hopefully there is enough time for them to recover. I'm being a=ttacked9u9g8foyi,./kl/.k
good call on the heat; i've a little of that myself right now...
pix?
Yeah that plant of ours that wasn't fed anything for like 3-4 weeks is almost dry and I smoked a nug... it almost tasted good and wasn't harsh at all before any curing!
