I got some new beans for Christmas, Eh! Bluejay x Bogglegum... Woot!
And some Trailer Park Boys... I know what I'm doing tonight!
Hey Missy, I am thinking about topping those beans and letting them veg for about 5 weeks, how do they respond? I want to take some clones and want to top to promote some internodle growth for cloning or just keep clones from the topping, but I don't want to stunt their potential so if you think that they respond better untopped I will only top half.
Thanks for any answers on the question.
Adieu
hey blue I think we got the same batch. If that is the case top away, I did half of them and had good results. but they do look so nice and bushy if you leave them alone. I never had a problem with height growing them out.
Sounds good Yeag, we will see if Stinky shows up to the party to give her nickles worth.
PS. Yeag, you going to make it back up here?
Adieu
yes it is for sure i will be there by may..about 189 miles south of you.you know where i am talking about. I have some land by the river and am having a house built. I may be staying in your area until it is finished or rent something down by my new home. The cold is going to suck but it will be nice to be free again. after growing up there and seeing the real world for the last ten years it will be nice to return to nothing but mother nature and peace and quiet:jointsmile:
i LOVE basil.......whats that other stuff you got growing....looks kinda weird:D
wow things really are slow around here.....anyway i finally set up an email......just wanted to let you know i droped you a line.....let me know if you don't get it...man i am drunk......it sucks when one runs out of smoke.....but yesterday was my dads birthday(he passed in january of 93)so i went to his grave and smoked him out..:stoned:
i found a picture of me the other day......my dad was holding me(i was 4 months old) and in the background was about 200 seedling...made me smile........................destiny
wtf i can't edit one letter.....what kind of B.S. is that????anywayQuote:

Hey, Stinky! Happy Holidays!
Just stopping in to say HIgH. :D
Seems you've been gone about as long as I have. Hope you had a good one.
See ya around the boards soon, I hope.

The Fog
Stinky.. This is C of Greens wife. He can't remember the password to the email that he sent to ya. Um the new address is [email protected] So do a favor and resend for him or else he'll never get to read it.
Thanks so much!
Hey all!
Bear and Yeag... your respective beans are either full or half siblings, or first cousins, with the same Afghani heritage...I made a couple crosses using both a male and female Afghani Dream x the other parent derived from my own line. The Afghani Dreams were all from the same cross that my friend made. It may be an Afghani Dream F2... whatever it is, it's all Afghan and all purty.
Hey the more the merrier up in Alaska, huh?! Shit I need to get a job up at UAA and move my butt back up to the rugged land.
SativaHAze and c of green I'll resend that email if I can find a draft of it! Or just write back! The other stuff growing that looks funky is dill. It's a little floppy and sparse though... may be one of those herbs like cilantro that just really enjoys being outdoors. And destiny is right! Did your father teach you growing? I've known only a couple people so far for whom growing is a family tradition passed down... and one of them is responsible for those Afghan genetics that have caused such a stir... and he's still just a pup!
Well as for updates, I'm now cloning in rapid-rooters, ambient temps 68 deg F, under humidity dome, mist 2x/day with plain water, dip in Clonex, whole thing on a seedling heat mat ($24 at the farmers coop in town)... anyone want to buy a slightly used ez cloner? LOVING the rapid rooters. Totally loving my new fertilizer guru who bugged me to try them! He's on the boards but I have no fucking clue what user he is! Hee hee. This place is great huh?
Also I am streamlining my operation. With my recent cloning success combined with an influx of great new genetics I'll be decreasing my sprouting rate to only 3 seeds per new strain to guarantee at least one female, and keeping a large collection of mothers.
With this comes an increased need for training so I'll be going with a single-trunk diagonal pattern with branches trained off of it... like the leaf of a fern, but more in 3-d... I have to get my numbers down to a more manageable level.
And with no boyfriend in the picture, I've got more time to do it! Poor guy, he's still calling me complaining that I have the best weed in town... well, funny, because I STILL have a need for a tame electrician!!! :D Works out nice... and actually after a long talk on Christmas day we no longer are sniping over the phone at each other. Phew.
So anyhow a couple of you should check your emails... think genetic archives... Yeag is moving, I'm gearing up for a major construction project that will require untamed contractors and building inspectors poking around...you can see where I'm going.
Um lesse... anything else? Um... since breaking up with The Jeff, I've dropped a quick 5 pounds on my bachleorette diet of omlettes and Mediterranean snack food. Haven't had the cholesterol checked though...
Things are great.
Life is great.
It's sunny and supposed to snow oer the weekend.
I have more seeds to share soon.
My boss doesn't need me to come in this weekend after all.
My Purple Star plants ALL turned purple, not just half of them as advertised.
I was lucky enough to bump into a frisky ex last night. mmmm..... :D
I got invited to "THE" new years eve party out on Cape Cod.
My tenant isn't moving out until spring, phew.
But he IS moving out, meaning I'll be moving downstairs into my old digs that included a WAY better growing area... with a 12 x 12 climate-controlled flower room...
It just doesn't get much better than this!
when i make an email after a twelve pack i should probably write it down:D
and yes my dad did teach me.He was all organic and all outdoor.unfortunately all the outdoor spots have turned into subdivisions.now i am on that constant look for the new ones.(which is fun so i am not complaining to much:D )
i was kidding about the weird looking stuff(referring to the cannabis)
i can't wait to see this 12x12 room you are going to get going.wish i was around there.i do a little constuction.
i found a guy that is to paranoid to grow in his house and is talking about backing me,so i may be able to afford to get things going pretty soon.just can't decide what a good cut would be for a guy that does nothing but put up some money.
anyway......glad to hear all is good and hope it stays that way for you.
P.S.by the way if you just tell me my email address i remember the password....save you some typing...maybe.
<[email protected]>
there ya go!
If you have a backer you should consider an 'away' grow... rent a cottage or something... share the workload... share the risk... share the fruits! I would never let someone back me and still use my own home.
Hey Stinky, glad all is well in your neck of the woods. Well, you should of got a line from me by now on the strain preservation thinggy.
It would be nice to have you up at the university, I live right down the street and would probably take a few classes if you were around there.
Hopefully the Yeag will be back up in the spring and who knows, maybe we could get KP up here. We would be a continental American Holland type genetics team, LOL.
Adieu
hey bear If you have not already thought of it... get some free used gill net it works great for the ~Sea of Green~ method.. i just got some for my monster sativa plant. We will have to meet up this spring. If your into fishing I still have a great river boat and drift boat. I love to float the river and flyfish.
Hey Yeag, that's a good idea with the net. My wife and I both like fishing, her dad is from Kodiac and they live for it.
I have a vision prob, but it doesn't stop me from doing much so we will have to try the fishing session when you get back. You going to be around Homer?
Adieu
no not homer although one of my family's boats is there. I will be living between soldotna and sterling
Oh cool that's not remote at all!!!!
Hey I like fishing too... I feel left out... I'm actually wearing my sweatshirt from the longliner Alaskan Leader that is registered in Kodiak but runs out of Dutch.
Hey if we do an Alaskan breeding coop we should run it in Dutch Harbor just for the name, tee hee... Wait never mind... crabbers are too nutty and the island is too gossippy...
Okay updates... I have no pics and no time... things are pretty crazy right at the moment and I'll be sort of in and oput for the next couple weeks...
The first Papaya came down at app. 7 weeks. Nice single cola, did not top, seeded her for F2s... had to take her down a mite early because of a pollen problem and I ended up with some unwanted seeds and had to make sure that they were not allowed to ripen and get mixed up with the F2s that were made 2 weeks earlier.
Her sister who was NOT pollinated is still going strong and has another week. I'll reveg her. She smells much stronger and fruitier, and I trained her diagonally without topping. The low branches are strong and have gret buds on them, and the top half of the plant is one big sticky mess of a cola. Very impressed for such an el cheapo strain from Nirvana. She will be a permanent mother in my collection.
The Dueling Thunderfucks are all healthy.
Yeag's MTF is a SICK SICK SICK fucker of a plant and has made my opther plants jealous of her ridiculously HUGE THICK fans. She looks like she's about to put the smackdown on the girls around her... "get out my light, bitches! Slap!"
Bear's MTF is still vegging but looking good.
I am in the process of reducing my total number of plants and increasing the average size and veg time so I still haven't popped my new beans. Next up are a couple interesting crosses that were gifted to me recently, and the 4 strains I got from Subcool/TGA/MzJilll including her jillybean that I'm seriously hoping to get going enough to clone for outdoors as it fits my needs for a colorful plant that can be hidden among ornamentals.
Um that's about it. My tenant just announced that he is moving like NOW and I'm kind of fucked because I had been planning on swapping apartments IN SPRING!!!!! So I'll be super busy the next couple weeks painting and unfortunately NOT moving my garden, boo hoo!
Well gotta run!
Hey Stinky! Everything is looking great with your grow! Did you find the papaya high maintenance or do you think I, a beginner, could conquer that strain? Haven't seen you around my log for a while, hope my amateur self didn't scare you off! Anyhow...just wanted to say your babies are beautiful. Peace!
No sorry I've just been so busy lately!!! :D
Papaya does not seem to be even remotely picky or finicky and is one of the strongest specimens in my garden.
Thanks for the kind words as always an I promise I'll come visit all the other logs by the end of the week!!!!
Oh BTW I just got a new toy.... a CO2 system.... used...cheap... Thanks hydro guru!!! :D
Come to think of it, we were having a giggle this weekend about how few of the ladies are into hydro. Yeah, there's a few, but it seems the need for POWER TOOLS and TINKERING is such a guy thing... and then I thought of the local growers I know, only 1 dude is still in dirt! lol. Men! So predictable!!! But in a good way! :D
co2 !! hmmm.. I am jelous... here is an update of the queen Afghan I got her all tucked down and she is flowering nice.
and the second is the massive queen with her other sister. i got her to lay down and chill under some gill net. now she is budding everywhere.
oooh you got her captured like a stinky fish! lol tickle that bitch until she squeals~
they look great! I still don't have a more recent pic of your but she may need a bit of bondage too, getting all big and frisky like that!
Well that was scary!!! The log made it down to page 2! :D Dammit I need ATTENTION!!!!!! Just kidding.... I did want to check in and say hi, and why there have been no updates in like EVER...
So we are having a super extra weird warm [hot!?] spell around these parts and I'm totally at my wits end trying to keep up with watering. It's SO hot in the attic! I can't sleep at night, both from the heat and from worrying about my girls. I've got fans exhausting the attic but since I winterized the house there's no a/c up there and the windows are all sealed with plastic that is supposed to stay on until April or thereabouts... so the exhaust is pushing hot air DOWN the stairs, and for reasons that should be apparent, IT ISN'T WORKING VERY WELL!!!
So between that and trying to work on my plant count, I'm pretty well ready to tear my own head off! I can't start any new seeds ATM, so the elite strains that were meant to be going by now are still in their packets. DAMN. And a couple recent gift strains are also on the back burner until I get rid of some duff.
Oh well there's a rant.
Pics soon I promise...
This weather we're having is bizarre, to say the least. I feel your pain! I just can't stand it when things don't go according to plan. It seems the weather for the next few weeks is supposed to be more like winter, but we'll see. Good luck and I hope the temps drop for you! Peace.
Can't wait to see some new pics!
Oh you poor thing, 5, 10 below up here. I had to pull the DWC buckets in the room unless I wanted frozen budsycles.
Season greetings.
Adieu
i want pics.......stinky.....bring on the pot porn...
blue I am not looking forward to those temps..i cannot believe i grew up in them..i used to wear shorts and a t shirt in january up there.
yes, pics please!;)
Pics!!! You guys are in luck!!!
Here's some of my new project... tying up the ladies to make them bigger and get my plant count under control!
The first 2 are just cool pics but bad qulaity..
1-BlueMoonRocks from BOG- one leafy assed girl! She has a main cola from dirt to tip!
2-Yeag's MTF that I put in flower without giving her enough veg time after topping, but she's still a doll
3-A BOG medley clone all tied up
4-Anohter pic
5-These Plan B Smashberry clones are ready to start training
And this is my method for tying an untopped from-seed plant... it's different from a clone because of the symmetrical, rather than somewhat random, branch angles that a single-stemmed plant displays.
The example is a Yeag's MTF that was hanging out in veg under just flouros for long enough to show me her pubes. BIG MISTAKE!!! She's going to be a mom now!
1- Take a plant that has like 10 nodes untopped
Take it out of its pot and repot it sort of sideways
2&3- Tie across the base of the main stem to keep it like that
4- Then tie the top of the main stem back so it comes back across the pot and exposes the stem to light
5- Make it your bitch
Just remember: Tie her up, bend her over, make her do what you say! :D Plants seem to enjoy that more than women do.
I enjoy training unruly bitches...I do the exact same thing..but then I weave them into my gill net. and push their fat fan leaves underneath leaving a beautiful green canopy of sticky dankness on top. that is done after the beheading of the pontiff's prissy princess.
I'm hoping to really be able to train all the girls into nice round plants that my fertilizer guru refers to as "BOGbushes" from all those old pics of the breeder's own plants that used to be on overgrow... finishing as basically a big ball about 4-5 feet in diameter... good number of bud sites...
My goal is to have 6-10 mothers of different strains to work with and take clones off one per week so that each one has ~8 weeks to recover from her prune, and I harvest one big-assed BUSH of a different strain every week.
So obviously my 'keeper' strains should take well to pruning and have good side development.
that sounds good.. i have been building a new light system ..that would be fun to try with that...I am pretty comfortable with electricity..i upgraded my home to a 200 hundred amp service..just had a buddy who is certified pull the permit and get the power shut off...anyway this is a description of what i am building... I borrowed a conduit bender and and built a tree of conduit...3' tall. every 4 inches up the conduit. there is a {branch} built of conduit with a double outdoor water resistant socket. so every four inches you have 4 bulbs two on each side...my plan is to stake a clone to this conduit tree and have the plant grow the same shape as the tree of bulbs..i am going to use this only for flower with additional top lighting.. i was thinking about using hps 50-100 wt bulbs on my light tree... so one plant will recieve up to 200wts of hps on every bud site. i built a model but i already have some new ideas..but it is 3' tall and has 6 conduit branches now on each side. any thoughts...
Wow that sounds really neat... a great idea! I'd like to see it in action.
Questions... Can you turn off individual sockets so that a small plant gets top light and only the lowest side lights, or are they all wired together? One thing I'm thinking is that the power surge from your entire tree lighting up at once might be a bear... put different levels on different circuits and then time them to come on a little staggered?
I hope you will start a log of your new light tree.
yes each branch is on it's own 20 amp breaker. they can be turned on one at a time..actually to at a time because each branch is a double socket..this contraption is all wired up and has leads coming off it to go right into the box i built a disconect off the main pannel...so it would be mobile... i will put a pic up when it is in action
Holy crap.
Well don't you just think of everything, lol! :D
I demand pics of this light tree. Sounds cool as shit yeag.Quote:

I'm updating my thread soon (today) with harvest pics. :) Don't forget to peek. :) How were your holidays? How was Festivus? ;)
Yeag, that is a cool design. I had pondered something similar to that. My idea was similar to one of those scalp massage things. It would look like that (the scalp massager (see pic below), but with different lengths of extentions that are adjustable, and lights on each point, including the middle top.
That way, it would cover an entire plant, all the way around and could be adjusted as the plant grew, but could stay close to the plant at all times on all sides.
Looking forward to those pics of the light tree.
The Fog :rastasmoke:
f[R]og that looks like a virus. creepy!!!
Festivus was most awesomestest party ever. I think I covered it back in the log but not sure.. lots of food, lots of cheap wine, lots of Shrek, lots of people, and a BIG FUCKING MESS in my kitchen after. I call the day seized!:D
i also am working on the planning stage of an led grow....your spider has inspired me fog... basically use the light banks they sell..but also use small clusters of LED's like legs on your spider......could you imagine millions of fiber optic lines running from the roof down to the grow room harnessing the free light of the sun ..i wonder if that has any possibilities.
