Turtle,
Nice grow log. Way to go. How is the fog working out for you? What fogger did you end up getting? I have a question about the cool tube. How did you drill holes in the piece of aluminum strip? Sorry to be so dumb.

But really, I still haven't used it for anything plant-related. I think that in less than 2 weeks I'll use it for the 1st set of clones.
About the cool tube, dude, ask as many questions as you need... we're always happy to help!
When you ask me how I drilled the holes... do you mean, in what positions? Or with what tool?
Tool: typical drill + Dremel
Position: The two holes for the light bulb sockets, I did the following:
-Placed the socket where I wanted it, took a mechanical pencil with about 2 inches of carbon out... then marked where the holes should go. That's it.
-The other hole, it was just one on top of the aluminum strip, so I could insert the "S"-hook.
Please let me know if this helps. I'd be more than happy to put more pictures up, and try to elaborate. Happy to know the my cool tube is of some use :)

Hey turtle, I'm a girl. I love turtles! So you used the dremel tool to drill out holes. What attachment did you use, a drill bit for cutting metal? I have used the dremel to cut zinc. Which fogger did you buy? Walmart or other. When I was fogging I let the machine run during the day and then off at night. The plants I used already had roots from soil starting. They loved the fog and the roots went in all directions. Cool. I ditched the fog. Didn't want to clean the thingy. Now I'm doing biobuckets. Nothing to clean, I am so lazy. Be safe turtle.

As to the attachment:
--- For the holes (on the aluminum), I used a drill bit and the drill
--- For cutting the 'sides' of the aluminum bar, I used the thin-cutting disk (Dremel)
--- For making the holes (on the PVC), I used the "drywall" attachment (Dremel)
Please let me know if you want/need more help and/or information. I've got a couple of extra pics of the cool tube's construction.
I bought a NutraMist fogger (yeap Garden, you read right).
QUESTION Gen::: When you ran the fogger during the day, about how much "liquid" would 'puddle' on the bottom of the fog chamber? I realize that after hours of fog, the fog will start condensing and unifying as liquid... I want to know if it's a big quantity of liquid, or is it like a small amount. Any ideas G?
As to cleaning it, the NutraMist has Teflon coated heads, so maintenance should be a no-hassle... should.
Thanks for the words Gen,
Happy New Year Friends! And Merry xMas!
-turtle420
dude.. you are awesome!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, turtles are cool. Did the nutramist cost you mucho dinero? Then you should have no problems with the fogger. I went cheapo, Walmart ultrasonic $30. It was quiet, which I liked alot. After running the fogger all day there was about 1/2 cup or less. Not alot. I had my setup in a rubbermaid, that was pretty deep. I punched a hole at the bottom of the container to drain off any liquid. The fogger used a 2 quart reservoir and I could probably run it for 3 or 4 days. I only used it for a week. For some reason the corner plants seemed to wilt faster than the others and didn't grow as fast. Needed to do more experiments.
Have you used your credit card to buy seeds? I sent cash to Amsterdam and had to send it registered mail. The guy at the counter got twitchy. I thought for sure the money was going to get stolen or I was going to get busted. Paranoia. The seed company did get the money and filled the order. I had the seeds sent to a PO box and they still haven't come. Been 13 days so far. I don't want to send another registered letter. Wondering if credit card would be less stressful.
Send those pictures! Thanks.
Well, the NutraMist 3 costs like $400. And the NutraMist 5 costs like $470. The NutraMist 10 costs $600.Quote:

Of interest is the following: In my planned grow, the NutraMist 3 would have provided too much fog. So why did I pick the 5? Because of the small ($70) price jump, and, because of future-expansion in mind. Right now (and for a while), all I'll get is my closet cabinet. No grow rooms. No greenhouses. No garages. But when I go growing in the future, (bigger house), I already got the high-output fog system.
I plan on "throttling" the fog output of the NutraMist 5 by turning it ON and OFF and the best possible intervals. That will have to wait for experimentation to see what those intervals' values are.
Thanks for the inputs. The NutraMist is, as you say, quiet. Dead quiet actually. No noise. I am very pleased with this product my friends. You can see that they've actually invested quite some time in engineering this thing. Good fittings. Solid construction. Oversized components. Weather-tight connectors. Good instructions (ok, I could use a better quality copy). Everything is there to make it work. If this where eBay? I'd give it 5 stars. I would do business again. A+++Quote:

I don't know if this is on purpose, like trying to keep their 'trade-secrets'. Because of this, I will not post pictures of specifics. I'd love to, but I respect their position. If anybody has any doubts, I suggest you go ahead and buy the system. Like I said, very well engineered. Very happy customer over here. :)
Gen, my seed buying history is this, so far:Quote:

My 2nd order, I sent cash. I did the order, received a confirmation eMail, and instructions for sending payment. I simply put the money inside a piece of paper, then inside the envelope, and sent it on its way. Order arrived within 2 weeks. (That was White Widow and Bubblelicious [?]).
My 3rd order, I also sent cash. Because of mis-understandings between me and the seller, his first two letters didn't arrive. Apparently (we think), too little postage. I recently received and eMail of his saying he would re-send (for a 3rd time) my order. To be quite honest, I don't remember what the heck I ordered.
I can recommend WeedFarmer.com (2nd order) and KidKind (or KindKid, I'm unsure), he was the 3rd order.
As to the pictures, I'll do it... I'll upload in a little while... right now, I'm trully blazed...
Best to all of you,

As to CA, no man... sorry. I wish I was there because of the cannabis laws, but, on the other hand, man, I wouldn't ever leave the place where I'm from (inside the USA). It's just, gorgeous. But hey, are you from CA? If I'm ever over there, I'll snap you an eMail before I start my trip!

I had been thinking::: My cabinet is 48" tall (4 feet). Inside dimensions are more like 45" high, and aproximantely 20" deep and 40" long (wide).
I want to do a SCRoG. The cool tube with the bulbs I can move up and down. The idea now is to put a Sterilite tub about 8" tall for the 'fog chamber'. I don't have the length x width dimensions of the tub right now, but it was the one that best fit the cabinet's base.
Will this tub be enough for the root growth?
I'd like to put some PVC pipes at the bottom of the tub, so the roots don't have "fog dead spots"... so the fog can move around more...
The next thing, I'd like to build a 2"x4" base for the cabinet... raise it like 8 or 9 inches. Under this base, I'd like to put another tub to capture the run-off fog from inside the cabinet. So, I'd be drilling a hole in the bottom's center so this water can drip down to the lower tub.
From Gen's input, it won't be too much run-off.
??? I'm lost... sorry, just had a bong hit... or two... ???
-turtle420
hey Turtle...
I think with that cool tube you should consider taking a page from zandors grows.. i would stack those tubes on top of each other. MIssionary position... and let the plants grow all around them...I am making the assumption that the tubes are so cool that the plants can touch the glass?
VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!

do you e-mail?
Yeah turtle, Happy New Year to you. Also Garden and Zandor and everyone else who I've had the pleasure of knowing through cyberspace. You guys rock!
Turtle why would like to live in CA for the laws? Is it the medical mj? The cops will still bust your ass. I'm trying to get a medical mj card. My regular doctor refuses to prescribe this for me. She would rather have me take prozac. I'm not getting messed up with pharma drugs. There are no side effects for mj.
Be safe all my friends.
There are no side effects for mj.
hmmmmm........
well there's a couple...
DOZEN
but I can't remeber them....
oh yeah.. that's ONE..
I love you
Ask Zandor he has medical card might know something you don't :confused:Quote:

Thank you rasta and garden. I did contact Zandor. He was the one who recommended mj card. There are websites that list docs who will prescribe in the states that have this law. My doctor was not cool and I don't think I will go back. With that said I have contacted a doc who will prescribe for the right condition. $200 cash for the appt and IF you get the card, $100 each year to renew. I'm not sure if I qualify. I don't have a serious disease. Just depression, that's all. We'll see. I'll keep you posted. I have appt on Jan 9, 2006. Root for me.
Garden, memory loss? I already have that! I have two teenage kids!!! If that does not cause memory loss and insanity I don't know what will.
Mother Cab half-way finished...
Hello friends,
I hope I can finish the mother cab today.
I have to install the 50CFM fart fan... and hang the four CFLs. Attach the multi-plug with the timer to its side.
And make the holes for air intake, and the fog feed-tube.
Also, have to go to the hardware store and find some bigger pots.
Overall, what do you think?
Thanks for the input guys,

Hello friends,
I couldn't finish all I wanted to do today because of my car. It's anti-gravity pods are leaking, so they aren't generating full force. Because of this, I had to get stuck in traffic.
I was able to wire up the CFLs inside the mother cab, and wire the 550CFM Dayton.
I couldn't do, but is pending:
A- Install Dayton to the Grow Cabinet
B- Install 90CFM 6" fart fan for the cool tube
C- Build a 2"x4" base for the Grow Cabinet (so I can fit a Sterilite tub under it)
D- Build the ballast cooling cabinet
E- Install a 50CFM fart fan inside the Mother Cabinet.
F- Make the reservoir-to-NutraMist connection plumbing
I still haven't received my X10 timers... waiting... hopefully tomorrow... waiting...
So, there you've got a picture of my mother cab, with all the CFLs turned ON. What do you think?
Thanks for visiting guys (and girls),
-turtle420
PS: Rasta, I didn't buy the bigger pots today... but it's on the agenda... :)
Hmm, tell me about your ballast cooling chamber. I've built a grow light from parts found at a electrical supply house. Ballast/transformer $55, extra large socket $16 and hps bulb $16. The ballast was already prewired. How far away (how long can the wire be) can the ballast be away from the socket? Some guy said 3 feet. That's not very long. Where do you put your ballast? That is one heavy sucker.
Turtle, I have this friend....
who wants to know if that monster CFL you are using is better than using a couple 150watt (42watt) cfl's from home depot...
I'd answer his question for him... but I thought I'd give you a chance to answer....
i love you

Hey turtle, nice to see ya again man.
Since your arrival to this forum, you have done nothing but learned and gained, you have an excellent grow, not to mention all your awesome ideas with box's and all..
Will be keepn an eye on this thread, cya round.
Hello,
I was reading the thread and found a couple of things that need clearing up...
I just built the cooling chamber Gen. I'm posting picks and explanations below.Quote:

But 3 feet is a little short. Mine are more like 9 feet... I think.
I just installed my ballast on the side of my cabinet. I built it very sturdy, so I'm quite pleased to be hanging heavy and costly things off it.
Hey Garden, so good to have you posting here :) Thanks.Quote:

Thanks for the kind words Joel. We were missing you dude! How's the trailer coming along? How's your xMas season? Thanks for sticking around ;) :thumbsup:Quote:

Plants went from 18/6 to 24/0 for one day... now 18/6 again. So they're about to have 24 + 18 = 42 hours of light.
I was able to:::
A- Build the base for the cabinet.
B- Build the ballast cooling box (pictures below)
C- Installation of the Dayton 550 CFM
D- Build the 90CFM 6" fart fan connection to the cool tube
E- Build the frame on the grow cabinet so I could install vertically the ballast
F- Discard the fresh air 50CFM fart fan on the window, and put the dryer hose directly there
I was unable to:::
Install the 50CFM fart fan into the mother cabinet. Not enough time.
Something interesting, grow related (not "construction" related):::
I watered my plants "correctly" for the first time, yesterday. All this time, I hadn't been doing it right. What I did WRONG was: I watered a pre-determined amount... learned from experience... just to get the plants to the next day pre-wilted.
So, I read around in these forums (where else!!!) and I read that you should::: Water the shit out of your pot, and put water ALL over the place... not just on the stems.
Duh!!! Homer Simpson over here... Anyways, we're good to go now.
Input appreciated,
