HiPro's first grow log!
Ok. Yeah, I'm going to get flamed too, but I've used miracle gro bloom boost and have been using it with Crystal one week before I began flowering her. She's so full of bud spots it's incredible. (After 16 days of being forced most of her bud spots are near an inch long and phat!) To help out with the flavor a bit I've added natural cane sugar, she had her first dose this morning. I read in Heads and High Times that it is a very good thing to add natural cane sugar to the mix. I see nothing wrong with Miracle Gro as long as the girls get a good flushing before the harvest. If it works, use it! Peace!

sugar or molasses (mls works best) are good to help them metabolize nutes. i reccomend you get greenlight super bloom to use in flower; that stuff is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! its basically a super phosphate with a nice balance of n and k. i stopped using mg in flower and found it affects taste, but not potency (mg makes it taste floral and perfumy, even when stopped two weeks b4 harvest and flushed four times....)

Quickie Update:
I have successfully germinated my 2nd HP13 bean. It cracked and grew a nice tip in less than 24 hours. (Holds breath...) I've started her in a peat moss pot to make the transplant a bit smoother, just seems easier to rip away a pot then it does removing the rootball from the pot itself. I'm hoping this will cause less stress and less stress is a good thing. Don't worry, I'm not going to transplant it pot and all like the package suggests because I've learned that peat pots can cause root-boundedness and stunt growth. Tonight I'll have pics. Peace.

HiPro's first grow log!
As promised, here's an update with pics!
The first 4 pictures are of my Neville's Haze babies. They are two weeks old today.
The last pic is my baby Afghani. She's 6 days old today. (and in desperate need of a transplant!)

HiPro's first grow log!
First picture is Gail who isn't doing so well because of soil problems. She has been severly pruned. Unfortunately in her beginnings I transplanted her into different soil....big mistake.
Second picture is my runt, Olivia....remember her, the one who had no cotyledons and whose pot I dropped. She's lookin' good now, glad I didn't give up on her!
Third picture is half of my grow room. (Upper right corner is baby station! Two planted, HP13 and waiting to crack ground!)
My other three girls are in flower right now so I'll take pics later. Peace!

HiPro's first grow log!
hi proglo, i just wanted to say that i think it'd be better if you waited about 3 weeks to transplant to big pots. this will allow time for the babies to for a root ball, and then all you have to do is let the soil dry, pull out the dirt/root ball, and place it in its new home (i go with 3g).
when i transplant, i layer the bottom with new soil, place the dirt/root ball in and fill a couple of inches more than the top of the old dirt, and drench it all down with green light's root stimulator. root and plant growth EXPLODE!!!
mmho...

Thanks Kindprincess, I'll keep that in mind for my next transplants. I like the thought of root and plant growth exploding. :D It makes perfect sense! I learned the hard way that 3 gallon pots would be more suitable for my girls' final resting place. And because of this I learned what was going wrong with Sophie....her soil was packed tightly and her roots nearly surfaced so I had to perform major surgery. I loosened up her soil quite rigorously and in the process was forced to sever some roots. Of course her growth has been stunted as a result but I think the looser soil and better oxygen intake will do her such good that she'll bounce back with vigor! Thanks again....Peace!

one thing about xplanting... the roots will find their own way; you don't have to "loosen" the soil. as a matter of fact, i'd suggest you leave it as compact as possible for transplanting. in less than one day, you'll have new roots everywhere, and by not disturbing/hurting the roots, there's no downtime or stress/shock.

ps, i'll post some xplant pix tonite.

Woooooo, nice job G! Is that Afghani the black kind you spoke of? Your mentioning of this "HP13" makes me think I need to go look it up!
So, (for anyone) is natural cane sugar better than black strap molasses?
Oh and stinky, you owe me a new keyboard! The Euro sportwagon and Thule rack comment made me spew - it's so true, they're friggin EVERYWHERE! :D

Hiya Blue! Good to see you back! To answer your question, I've heard molasses is the best but the natural cane sugar gave my flowering ladies a giant boost so I'm not complaining. Yes, I'll take pictures of them as soon as possible. Crystal's a nearing 3feet tall now! Yikes. Jody's definitely a Jody and as luck would have it, I'm almost certain that Sophie's gonna stay Sophie! Yay! Nope, not the black Ghani, <I wish> but....who knows what the future will hold? Just a common strain from Nirvana! Speaking of Nirvana, I'm still waiting on my beans from Dr.Chronic! (Impatiently I might add!)
Pics and a thorough update to come tomorrow! Peace!
