Hey Friendowl, I will be hiking up to Mt San Jacinto on June 3rd, which is a Saturday with Dr H-a-z-z-Matt esq. and my cousin. I have an extra seat in my car. Do you wanna go? All you gotta do is make it out to Riverside. We will be taking the Palm springs tram and then of course Hiking from there. It is about 12 miles (20 kilometers) round trip. Toking all the way to the top. Late
How is it that I just found this thread?
I'll get some pictures up in a day or two once I get off my fat ass, probably from Stoney Point since it's about 5 minutes from me. Gotta love the irony in that name.
sounds good fellas
i just might have to meet on jacinto
that would be a trip
we shall see
Hey Just saw the news story on those two hikers that got lost for 2 or 3 days out there!
They said they wandered off from the rest of the tour (probably to toke!lol) and got disoriented and became lost.
After the second day they found the backpack of a missing hiker from more then a year ago! They found some food and matches and a log from the missing hiker that explained that he was lost and that he was probably going to die on this mountain! (how freaky!)
They used the matches to light a small fire and fed it with dry leaves to make it smoke and a rescue helicopter saw the smoke and pulled them to safety!
I find that whole story fascinating in that one simple fact that they use what they could from the dead guys backpack to save themselves
(Total Cosmic Karma!)
When we do this hike we'd use our GPS'rs and map all of the way points!
From off the tram and use the "breadcrumbs" feature on my GPS'r to track our path!
There no Chance of us getting lost (unless we're sooo stoned!)
Camel pak and a walking stick is recommend
I hope to see more "Trail Blazers" coming
Dr Hazz:thumbsup:
Yeah it is trippy. It said in the news that they found his backpack exactly 1 year to the day the other hiker went missing. Nice. Can you imagine how they felt when they found that backpack. They were probably thought in was a Mirage.Quote:

can a mod move this thread to the travel and adventure subforum. Raise this one from the dead because of all the great pictures. Thanks
man do I love hiking!
I just recently bought a nice Trek mountain bike and have been enjoying this baby quite a bit. What I'll do is pick a mountain, ride every single trail on it, then hide my bike in a bush away from the trails, and climb up. I usually pick a side where there are lots of rocks so I can rock climb as well. Anyway here's what I've been doing for the past 5 days. (Got the bike 5 days ago).
The first 3 pictures are within the San Dieguito River State Park in SD of course. The last one is from Culp Valley, in Borrego.
Today I am planning on going to the Cuyamaca valley! Should be fun!
