i once spent an entire summer believing that the answers to the universe were contained in "stranger in a strange land". i didn't believe that heinlein was god, but that he had accidentally tapped into truth. i'll admit that those delusions were caused by an inordinate amount of mescaline. what's your excuse?Quote:

Just because someone has an answer for something, doesn't mean they're answering it CORRECTLY. You really think the bible is the only text that attempts to explain how everything was created? Not trying to be insulting here, but you clearly do not know the definition of the word "myth". There are HUNDREDS of religions to date that have their own unique explanations of how the universe came to be. Examples:Quote:

-The ancient Chinese believed many different things, one of which being that Pan Gu created everything. Another being that the universe was created by 2 nameless gods.
The list goes on and on. Other religions believe that, just like your god, the Universe is eternal and that nothing came before it. So there you go. Lots of answers for you. Doesn't mean that any of them, including yours, is right.
Furthermore, it's astounding how not only do you bring Einstein's quotes completely out of context, but when you ask BlueBlazer to explain what Albert means by them, you completely ignore his answer and say that he can't. Like BB said, Einstein was speaking FIGURATIVELY in your quotes. Just because I say "Oh my god" or "thank god I got that bonus" doesn't mean that I believe in YOUR god. I don't. Additionally, what's YOUR explanation of BB's quotes? Hmmm? Which, by the way, are long enough to be able to tell what the hell he meant by them, not just little snippets here and there. Go on, explain it if you can.
I swear, with all the asinine things bible-bangers come up with, I find it very hard to believe that we're out of the dark ages.
Chris, I really don't give a flying fuck what you choose to believe, but you're trying to make fact out of fiction, and you're failing miserably at it. Sorry, but it's true
Your really trying to tell me that Einstein was NOT talking about a "creator" when he is mentioning GOD in all of those quotes?!!! LOL You are just another atheist SCUM trying to come and back your freind! lol... Quit trying to turn around what Einstein said! He wasn't saying "oh my god", he was talking and MEANT to say what he did! Theres a FINE LINE between saying "oh my god" because something happened, compared to ACTUALLY MEANING to SAY it and phrase it!!!! EINSTEIN SAID WHAT HE SAID!!!!!!! QUIT TRYING TO TWIST AND TURN HIS WORDS AROUND SO YOU CAN TRY AND HAVE SOMETHING TO SUPPORT YOUR NO ANSWER THEORY!!!!!!!!!Quote:

You're such a sweetheart, chris! Haha, man, talk about acting like a desperate caged animal, clawing at everything he can! Hell, what am I saying, animals act more civilized. Do you think Jesus would be proud of the way you're acting? You're a stellar representative of your religion
It's really sad that I have to state the obvious, but this sentence of yours is one of the most hypocritical statements I've ever heard. That is precicely what you are doing, hon. Not anyone else.Quote:

Sometimes, when people need to get a point across, they need to speak in terms other people can understand and relate to. That's what he was doing. You don't like my previous analogy? That's fine. Here's another one - If I said to you "you're living proof that god has a sense of humor", you think that means I believe in god as you believe it to be? It doesn't.
If your out-of-context quotes were the only thing that Albert said, it would have been a possibility that he believed what you say he does. Since you haven't been able to counter my statements about you not having the correct answer to the creation of the universe, you obviously accept that....finally. You keep asking others to address the quote you found even though it has already been done so repeatedly, but you still haven't answered my question though. What is your explanation of these following quotes that BB provided? -
"I cannot conceive of a God who rewards and punishes his creatures, or has a will of the kind that we experience in ourselves. Neither can I nor would I want to conceive of an individual that survives his physical death; let feeble souls, from fear or absurd egoism, cherish such thoughts. I am satisfied with the mystery of the eternity of life and with the awareness and a glimpse of the marvelous structure of the existing world, together with the devoted striving to comprehend a portion, be it ever so tiny, of the Reason that manifests itself in nature. (Albert Einstein, The World as I See It)"
"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it. (Albert Einstein, 1954, The Human Side, edited by Helen Dukas and Banesh Hoffman, Princeton University Press)"
These my friend, are plain and simple statements from the man himself. Not a whole lot open for interpretation. Please don't avoid the question, chris. I'd really like to know what those 2 statements mean to you.
If God answered every person's prayer, people would become dependent on him,if he did nothing, people would just give up on him.So he help's by giving you a hand now an then but he's not going to drop a big pile of food in the middle of a bunch of starving kid's,thats because those of us that can afford to should be helping by sending over food or money, volunteering or helping in any way that we can.If God does his job right people wont think he's done anything at all.:angelsmiley:
1) My quotes are not takin out of context AT ALL! It's clear that everytime Einstein says GOD, he is ultimitly speaking of the "creator" of the universe, and time itself! You can look it up all you want! Einstein CONCEDED to a creator (whom I believe is GOD,yes the one the BIBLE speaks of,). Einstein may have or have not belived it was the same GOD as mine, BUT he did believe in a CREATOR (whom he referred to as GOD)Quote:

3) His quotes are Einstein denying he believes in a certain GOD of any religion today but, Einstein believed in a GOD! Just one not known yet supposably to everybody. He CERTAINLY belives in a creator and has PUBICLY STATED "I AM NO ATHEIST"
Troll boy is besieged on all sides it seems. :D
