A few highlights from this passage:
1. "many antichrists have come"
2. regarding them, "They went out from us"
3. "It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichristâ??he denies the Father and the Son." It tells us plainly that there are many antichrists and then defines how to tell who the antichrist is, the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ. (Christ mean anointed one)
4. " I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray."
5. "This is how we know it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us." Paul thought it was the last days because there was such a falling away from the faith, this was due to a group of people that was arguing against Jesus as Christ. This is WHO Paul defines as the Anti-Christ.

So, Anti-Christ is a position regarding the person of Jesus of Nazareth, and also a person who attempts to draw you away from belief that Jesus is the Christ. Will there be political and religious leaders who are enormously successful in leading people away from Christ? Absolutely. This may come a surprise to the reader, but those who do so are often doing so because of solid moral objections firmly grounded in rationalism.

As a former minister I spent an enormous amount of time in the bible during that 12 year period of my life. I was forced through the reading of scripture to dismiss it as full of internal contradictions and immorality imposed upon God. As one who does believe in God (I would classify myself as a Deist Agnostic) I see the words and actions attributed to God in the Torah (Leviticus & Deuteronomy especially) as blasphemy.

While I agree with a large portion of the teachings of Jesus, he links himself inexorably to the Yahweh of the old testament and his laws. Taking these laws and new testament prophecies literally would result in horrors that go far beyond the horrors of radical Islam. They have in the past and unrestrained, they will again.

So, in regards to "THE Anti-Christ" as opposed to "Anti-Christs". I dismiss the new testament as myth, so I do not interpret it literally or believe that it has magical, future telling prophecies.

So, I never thought I would say this, but I am Anti-Christ by the biblical definition in 1st John. I see it as the only moral position in regards to Christianity since Christianity has so much immoral baggage and contradictions with morality and science.

Obama will NOT be winning the election. He needs the ability to gather masses and have his power but free of accountability of BE PRESIDENT.
He will loss because he has made this so much about race and "other races" cant understand what its like to black. BLAH
He is stoking the The Black national fire and needs to cause division between races..
Anyways, my money on obama losing but gaining another "global" respected title or role..

He's not the Anit-Chirist, Dude! He is the real, actual second-coming of Jesus, and you better get on the Righteous side if you want to get raptured away to Heaven! You don't want to end up not voting for Jesus, do you? I mean, It's a secret ballot and all, but there really are no secrets from Jesus.

About any scriptures/text about an anti-christ:

I think it's more like a general way of describing to people the signs of what to look for to know when we're being misled. History repeats itself in so many ways, many variables change but the goal still remain roughly the same: absolute dominance of the world; perhaps power and control of the one-world government.

The anti-christ is probably just another term for a person or a group (political party, government, nation, etc.). There can be more than one at any time. In fact, you could think of it as varying degrees of the "anti-christ": anyone that exhibits increasing habits that correlate with what an anti-christ would want or do.

With more powerful and manipulative people/groups like that, the chances greatly increase for them to be in control. You could argue that the founding fathers of this country (free-masons and illuminati stuff) were anti-christs and that our system of government always has and always will be like that until it falls.

Instead of just reading about what might specifically happen in these repeating cycles and trying to guess at who will be the singular anti-christ, we should try to just be generally second guessing all our leaders (and ourselves) and thinking more for ourselves so that we can try to avoid the common "evils" that are present in every day life.

They just took that whole idea and applied it to Christianity to point out all the negative things that would come from an anti-christ to keep as many blind-followers of the faith as they can when the time comes to "test their faith".

To a certain degree, some of the things an anti-christ would be credited for doing seem awfully positive.... One world united in peace, no more cultural boundaries, no more conflicting religions or beliefs that lead to wars... all for logical peace-loving people that are free from the confines of their own self-righteous beliefs. For people to give up their own beliefs to follow the word/examples of an anti-christ it would be very similar to worshipping.

Some extremists may have also to be eliminated for it to work, of course. Can't grow good fruit when there's diseases and pests crawling all over everything right???

Maybe that's the whole point: for there to be absolute perfection, imperfect measures must be taken.... but that defeats the whole purpose, like a paradox. Perfection is unattainable; futile to pursue.

There will always be "anti-christs" for good and bad reasons, and there's nothing we can really do about it. Just do your best for yourself and your interrelations.

Its not about color of Obama.. What you need to understand that the Anti Christ will pull power and will deceive the people.

And about the rapture, its real and WILL happen, I know im not going on the first round. I will be left behind, but I kind of want to, so I can witness it first hand..

Its interesting that his first reign will end in 2012 the year something is supposed to happen. But seriously the evangelicals just can't wait for the apocalypse and they constantly find dates. Sir Isaac Newton predicted the world would end in 2060 and he wasn't exactly a loony, being the foremost physicist and all.

Nope don't think he's the antichrist lol but I think the next 4 years will be different if he's elected ( shit even I'm brainwashed by that change he's promising)
