A degree means everything here in the USA.
I went to a job interview about a year ago. I was up against 1 other person. He had a degree, i didn't. I proved that i could go over and above the job requirements.
It came down to him having a degree, and me not having one. It's as simple as that. If you don't have a degree around here, you're not saying much (no matter how much you know, you will have to work your way up from a $10/hr job). I'd rather work my way up starting at $20/hr.
This was a Finance job and him and i both had computer backgrounds. He is also a minority, which could have played a part (equal opportunity).
And honestly, it's not much money if you choose the right place or you do things right. My job paid for 80% of my tuition. I am stuck paying about $4000 over the course of 4 years (this includes books). So yeah, a BS in Computer Science for $4000? Count me in
I know, but that prick gave me the even rep with that comment the other day, but no worries, he's banned now.Quote:
