NEWB,1st GROW, THOUGHT I'D SHARE EXPERIENCE W/ OTHERS FOR INPUT!
ooohhh weeee.. it's a long weekend out here in the U.S., and i got off of work...:D
what up everyone...how's everything, and everyone doing?
shit, just another day here...not too much has changed, plants are growing SLOWLY, but they're still green, so i am happy...
so today i watered them...i used that fish emulsion for the first time, i sure do hope that they like it...
watered them each w/:
1qt h2o, 1/2 tspn of fish emulsion ( 5-1-1 ), and 3-4 drops of superthrive..
should i be adding any other ingredients to my water right now?
i took the ph of each of my ladies, and they were all somewhere in the range of 6.5 - 7.2 .... each pot was different..
so i've got 5 x WW and 5 x NL that are actually growing right now..
one of my WW though for some reason will not shoot out it's leaf's.. it's been growing a stem for about 7 days now, and it did have the popped seed shell ontop of the stem, but when watering today it knocked it off..
check out pic #2, does anyone think that there is somethig wrong with it?
also, one of my NL's the one that had the yellow leaf, well it's still got it, hasnt really grown or changed at all ..
check out pic #4, anyone think there is anything wrong w/ that one?
but yeah, will get on later..
holla at me, advise me PLEASE!!!
PEACE!

hey buffalo, i know that you seen MAND's grow... shit looks beautiful, huh?
hopefull thinking....

well I wouldn't freak over the yellow leaf but it is my opinion that the 1000w should not be used before there are about 4 pairs of leaves, not includding the cotyledon set. Give those seedlings a break and and just stick with the flouos. I'm sure this is a fairly common suggestion on this board, as I have seen it stated before. Be patient, mother nature will provide:rasta:

Buffalo- what's going on man? only reason i keep questioning the MH or FLOROs is b/c i am reading through other peoples threads, and they started out w/ their HID ( whether is was hps or mh ) from the very beginning, and when i look at their plants on day 12 they've got a lot more leaf's than mine..
for some reason i just feel like my ladies are growing slow..
but believe me i feel ya on what your saying about they dont need super strength light right now, that's why i've been giving it to them 10 - 12 hrs a day..
but what i am going to do is go to WalMart and buy 2 more of those floro sticks for plants, and place above them, and just let them go 24/0...
i just want me some good reefer, been a long while for me since i smoked anything like that.. guess i'm just too anxious for it already??
so the plant that had the stupid shell stuck on the outside of it w/ no leafs, now has 2 leaf's and trying to pop out another 2... so that's good..
the fish emulsion didnt seem to have a negative effect on them, as they are still standing, and green as can be...
should i only be giving them that stuff once a week?
was reading another thread where some dude was giving it to them during the flowering stage once a week, talking bout he's going to start to do it twice/wk..
just want to be sure that it's okay to use right now, in the stage that they are in?
what does that stuff actually do, i read the bottle but still dont really understand..
i know it provides nitrogen, but what does nitrogen do for them?
anyways, i holla at ya'll later..
PEACE!

*****picture is of the one that was just growing stem w/ seed on top no leafs, took the seed off yesterday, and she spread out...
**i only call them she's as wishful thinking..( they may all be males ):(

New growers always overdo it.whether it is watering, touching the plant, nutrients or just screwing up the night cycle during flowering.I don't know much about fish emulsion except that it is a great fertilizer, but how much food do u think your seedlings really need right now?........I can tell that you are an attentive grower, but be patient ,distract yourself and let those youngins take root.your patience will pay off in the long run....light, water and time are all your plants need at this point. If I am way off with my advice I'm sure that one of the veterans on the board would be slamming me right now.:p ...........just watch em grow:thumbsup:

yeah that's what i been noticing..
so yeah, just going to leave all the floro's on 24/7 for another week or two, and then drop them under the 1000w MH for 2-3 weeks, and then however long it takes during flowering, i got the HPS for that..
i just hope that they take off here soon.. they have been growing so slow compared to others that i have seen, and been following..
we'll see though...
later man!

not too much is changing, just mother nature doing her thing right now..

anyways, i'm sure i'll put more up later..
oh yean, i put 2 NL seeds in papertowels in tuppaware ontop of my TV.. going to add 2 more to the familia..hoping for a bunch of ladies..:rasta:

so i think i may have some yellow leaf's but dont know for sure.. maybe i am just paranoid..
dont think i have been overwatering, got this meter that reads soil moisture and i water when it's close to dry.. not all the way dry, but close. top of soil is crunchy...
i watered about 4 times in their 2 weeks of life.. everytime they got couple drops of superthrive, and this later water i gave them some alaska fish emulsion ( 5-1-1 ).. this is the only thing i could think would cause this..
ph level of each plant is anywhere between 6 and 7, so that should be ok..
light schedul 24/0
10 hrs of MH about 4.5 ft above them, and then
14 hrs of floros..
all plants have different types of soils.. but based all soils on N>P>K..
any thoughts??
pic 1 and 2 are different plants..
pic 1 is the one i think may have some yellow leaf's coming on ( she's my biggest ) and i just want to stop that before it happens..
pic 1 is the middle one on the 4th pic...
any advise would be incredibly and greatly appreciated.. i just want to stop before it gets bad...
could hot temperature cause this??? cause that definately is a factor..
it does get hot at times...
thanks!
NEWB,1st GROW, THOUGHT I'D SHARE EXPERIENCE W/ OTHERS FOR INPUT!
Fish emulsion could easily be a factor, what are the temps like?
Your plants don't need fertilizer yet. :D
NEWB,1st GROW, THOUGHT I'D SHARE EXPERIENCE W/ OTHERS FOR INPUT!
ok not going to feed them anymore of that.. just give them h2o and superthrive...
temps in the day w/ the MH on get almost to 100 F... i know that's way too hot, so today i went out and bought another floro tube, tomorrow going to get another one, and another clamp light w/ CFL for the 2 new spouts ....
keep the MH off until i can figure a way to keep cool...
i was reading in Jakes thread that maybe it could be the root are not getting enough oxygen.. you think this could be?
i did not mix any perlite in my soils, ( didnt know )
if that could be a factor in it, how can i change to soil so that there is some perlit in it..?
thanks, i really appreciate any help..

Oof. Yeah, I had the same issue you're having actually. (if this is a root-oxygen problem).
Oh, and I also just read that anything over 90 degrees WILL effect the plant's processing photosynthesis :D They process it best 75-78.
What I would do is get the pot you want to transplant to, make large draining holes, layer the bottom of the pot with rock to keep your medium from falling through, then I would coat the rock with pearlite (just a half inch - inch) and then use this guide that was so expertly written by harddon :D:

Oh, be sure to mix 25-40% pearlite with your soil.
Good luck, tell me how it goes!
