Because children should not have unsupervised access to anything. That's what parents do. The internet is especially dangerous for kids with no parents keeping them in line and making sure they know what's what. Children need a degree of supervision and guidance to survive and become healthy, useful adults. By age 14 my kids were allowed to access the net pretty much without anyone looking over thier shoulders. We educated them to the dangers and such and let them loose. With one disclaimer...we trust you but if you give us a reason not to trust you...remember what dad does for a living (IT)...he can and will find out if you are not behaving. They behaved. (at least on my computers they did, what they did at other kids houses I can't say for sure)
