What strain would you pick?
Thanks Rasta...
Here's my situation as to the air temperature:
My current temp. is @: 86.0 F. This is the reading from the probe that's on top of the soil.
My ambient air temperature is 85.4 F. So, I think everything is doing pretty good to have a 0.6 F increase in temperatures.
In order to lower the temperature even more, I'm going to have to instal a a/c unit or something... ?!?!?!?!! Woa!!! I think that's just too much... My plants will have to cut it with 86 - 90 F temps.
The only way I'm installing an a/c system into the plants is if the temps inside my cabinet go over 90F when I've got both HPS + MH going... If, with those two bulbs, and all the fans I'm going to install, the temp still soars over 90F, fuck it... a/c it is.
This sucks for me, thou....
Thanks for the input Rasta!

Holy Fuck, Mother Fucking Fucking Fuck!
I just installed my 400W MH... Hole FUCK! That shit is bright!
Now I'm part of the legion of growers that are blind because of their lights. Now I'm part of that brotherhood... yes, that brotherhood of mini-inside-Suns... NOW! My plants will know what 'broad spectrum' really means.... Now my plants know the superior reflective capabilities of Mylar. Yes! Yes! Yes!!!
There's a pic below of the setup. I'm sorry for the light mount... but I was very tired and I gave it only 5 minutes of my time. I have a reflector in my posession... but I cannot use it. Maybe I'll be able to use it in the future, but for now, I've got to permit it to take usable space inside my home while I'm unable to take advantage of its reflective capabilities.
There's another reflector that's supposed to ship out of California today... but that means I'll be getting it next week....
I think I'm going to go ahead and use the reflector I've got.
<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>
As to the cabinet, I covered it with Mylar yesterday. Wow! Impressive shit.
I'm going to see if I can buy a floor fan today, and some of HarddOn's creepy cardboard... This way, I'll make the necessary holes into the cabinet, and make some exhaust systems and air intakes... because I need to place the door back on the cabinet ASAP... MY ENTIRE ROOM was illuminated throughout the entire night!
I guess the neighborghs where thinking...: "Well, there goes turtle again with his cold fusion experiments..." :D
With the new light, I've been able to keep the temps @ a max of 89 F.
Thanks people. Looking forward to input,

PS: I had to instal the MH yesterday, because I compared my plants with RastaKaze's on day 5, and Rasta's plants will woop my plants' asses anyday... that sucks. He had a MH going on... and I had CFLs. But I had a MH just sitting there... so I said 'Fuck it!' and went ahead and did the installation. I'll never forget the funny colors the bulb goes through when it turns on... Yeah... I still see them 8 hours later. LOL!!!

AWSOME :) HD would love this, man I can tell your gonna be like 9skis and the rest of us that are kinda new to this... we don't know shit, but when someone says something needs to change, we just do it... The pics kinda far away so I cant tell what difference the mh has made, but man do they look a richer green! Your gonna fine, may I suggest watering with superthrive? A few drops in a gallon should do it. Also, do you have mylar reflecting the light back down? There's gotta be something reflective on her roof.. also next time you stop by the garden store I'd pick up a bag of "alabastar stone chips" and add a layer to the top of your soil.. this will decrease the amount of light being absorbed by things OTHER then plant material. Lookin' good, keep doing what your doing :D
Peace

Also when you transplant, use a hell of alot more perlite. atleast 30% perlite. I use 50/50. Not alot of people take this advice but man it makes such a huge difference.. you see perlite dosen't hold water so if you have a 50/50 perlite/peat mix not only is there MORE oxygen available for the roots to thrive on, but it's more lightweight therefore allows the roots to grow through the medium easier (which means an overall healtheir and more robust root system), not to mention it's very hard to water.
Peace :)

Hello guys... I've got a couple of ideas bouncing around in my head...
Ok, my cabinet is 40"x20" and about 46" high. Perfectly sealed if need be.
I'm about to buy one of those Dayton fans to exhaust the air from inside the grow room... and then buy a leaf blower to push air through the reflector housing.
IDEA: What do you think if... if I make the room sealed... and use CO2....
I could buy a water chiller [http://cgi.ebay.com/Oasis-Drinking-F...QQcmdZViewItem ].
This water chiller, I connect a water pump, a small radiator (like the ones used for engine oil/transmission oil coolers) with a fan... I cool the water with the chiller, then move that water into the oil cooler... so, basically, it would be like a mini air conditioning unit.
I could then inject CO2 into the cabinet... plus keep my temps down. The things that I'm unsure about are how many BTUs does the water chiller have capability for.
Ideas? Suggestions? Thanks !

Hello guys...
I need help!
Here's my situation... where I live, the average temp is about 80 F (night 74F, day 87 F ).
I'm unable to get the temperature of my box down... It's hovering in the 90's. Sometimes 91F. If I get in the way of the fans, it can reach 96F in less than a minute. Seems I'm running an F1 engine or something... :(
My box is less than 35 cubic feet. I've got a leaf blower cooling the reflector housing right now. The reflector housing is one of those that you install a glass below the bulbs, and then you have a "sealed" reflector... so all the hot air stays inside the reflector... or so the theory goes.
Again, I've got a freaking leaf blower cooling that thing. It's rated @ 275CFM. 7.5AMPs. And a SHITLOAD of noise. Unberable!
QUESTION: Are Dayton fans quieter? What about the 265 CFM version? Quieter than a freaking leaf blower? What about the 465 CFM version?
I just can't stand the noise. That leaf blower is driving me insane!!! In fact, after I write this and post it, I'll be turning off the lights just because of the freaking noise... :(
The Second QUESTION: What do you suggest for cooling the box inside?
In order to provide air circulation to the small plants, I've got a tower fan laying horizontally and pointing towards the plants. Now, what can I get to exchange the air quickly enough inside the 35ft^3 box? 465CFM? or 265CFM?
In addition to all this, I cannot close the door of my cabinet because the temps will just soar... I've got an 18" floor fan blowing air into the cabinet all over.
??!?!!! H E E E E E E L P ! ! ! !
Thank you very much,
-turtle420
PS: Can somebody give me input on the idea of using the water chiller as a quasi-a/c unit?

How are they lookin'? Let's see some pics.. if they don't appear to be suffering from the heat then you should be ok.

Rasta, thanks for replying man... it gives me a sense of hope...
Dude, here you have three pics... what do you think?
I'm headed out the door right now... so I'll check your replies later today. Thanks man!

Well I don't see anything WRONG with any of them... one's deformed, that might pose a problem for you later on, but otherwise they're just slow growers. A few things could be causing this.. how often is the air in your growroom replaced? Where is your air coming from? Hopefully not from inside... stale air can really stunt a plant, so if you dont have a co2 system, you should try to configure a way to pull in fresh air and have it vented out of the growroom.. You can manage this with as little as a few dryer tubes a fan and a garbage bag.. Just have the "intake" end of the tube and stick it out a window and cover up the open area with a sheet of cardboard or something.. This is SUPER important. Below pic 1 is my first attempt at (2) weeks... pretty sad :o I had no true ventilation, simply a mess of fans blowing every which way. Pic 2 is my second attemp at 2 weeks, and as you can see, FRESH air makes a hell of a difference. And if already HAVE fresh air coming in, then I'd have to say It's your soil. It looks like it has a high bark content, and not much perlite, Making this another possiblity of the slow growing. Ya see the all that bark forces the roots to go under more stress then they should have to, and on they're way to the bottom of the pot they have to work around all that bark and can sometimes get entangled. Not only that, but if you have a ton of bark in your soil that's less actual volume in the pot for your roots to thrive in. Get back to me on those two issues and if we can't figure this thing out on our own we'll call in the big boys... Zandor? latewood! Garden Knowm... Hardonn? :D
Peace
