lol yeah, he/she did
"God is for real" and then "I'm an atheist too"
Maybe he/she thinks that an atheist is somebody who does not belong to any religion, as opposed to somebody who does not believe in God.

i think God was just a way to give people, in a time when life was truely hard, a hope that one day they'd have thier own paradise. This still applies to many who lead lives full of suffering in war-torn countries, but for the rest of us its just a bonus to a life that should be more than enough for us. Its also another way for people to try try and justify hate and prejudice caused by fear. This is still true in many places, though not as severe as it used to be (eg the crusades). Religion's failing nowadays, mainly because we've started to embrace our fellow man instead of trying to kill them, so we no longer need a reason to justify killing them. Religion isnt all bad, believing in God obviously doesnt automatically make you some kind of Nazi, and people working for God do very good things, charities, helping the poor/sick, but we shouldnt do these things just to benefit ourselves (ie get into heaven)
I think eventually we'll be able to exist without having to believe in a higher power of some kind, but it wont happen til we grow up properly and realise that he was never really there and we dont need him to justify our actions be they good or bad. I could go on like this forever, but Im gonna spare y'all :)
Exactly my thoughts, Jaxx.
I'm agnostic. If i were to choose a religion it would be buddist. I use to go to a christian school when i was little, but then i read up on darwins evolution theory and it all made sence to me. I don't care what anyone believes and i'm not going to force my beliefs onto anyone else. I just wish some christians would do the same to me instead of pestering me to "see the light or go to hell."
Technically I should be Christian. I was baptised when I was young but was only ever taught that Christians believe in a god who is all good and that makes Christians the most peace-loving people on Earth.
Now that I'm a licensed toker, I find I don't believe in religion. It's like the herb made me see straight. What is religion? It's no different from politics. Why should I believe in Christianity? I don't know, is there any reason to?
It seems to me religion is a reassurance, particularly with modern day Christianity. People need an excuse to be biased without feeling bad, to be reassured without being confused. The world is a bad place and people do bad things, I wouldn't say the logical place to turn in times like this is a book with unknown origins connoting the beliefs of one individual. I've no more an excuse to believe it then I do 'The Sun' and in doing so, i'm just letting myself get suckered. The world's a very difference place compared to how it was thousands of years ago, as if those ideologies could ever be significant now (yet people still believe they are).
When I read the bible, I don't see a logical solution to lifes problems and obstacles. I see nothing but jargon that people need to adapt to modern day in an effort to excuse it's crimes. What is there to suggest faith isn't a waste of time. None. I'll look out for myself thank you.
Just my small-minded opinion.
I believe that the burning bush was an entity called Kryon who again visited the earth and taught millions of people the truth www.kryon.com . I believe in taking responsibility for everything bad or good that happens in your life because we are all a piece of god, we are in control god does not control us. Before you are born you set up all the circumstances with every single person you even see to create tests for yourself. I believe you have the power to create anything you wish in your life and anyone can have peace within themselfs and thier life if they so choose. I do not believe in heaven or hell, though they exists they are mearly illusions that have been created from human beliefe, they exist on the astral plane and are not real. I believe the world will drastically change in the year 2012 perhaps the apocalypse..perhapse somthing else..whatever it is humans will survive it and evolutionize closer to how jesus was with each generation.
we are just visiting the earth when we are dead we go home.
people always say"with everything going on in the world how can you believe in god?" i think the p[roper question is "how can you believe in man?"
Agreed. God created us with enough sense and logic to do so many things. God Shouldn't have to babysit us. Humans in general need to take responsibility for their actions as a whole.
exactley XTC...he gave us the most intelligence out of any organism and we are supposed to be the one to take responsibilities of our own actions...hes just the creator
