your plants look about the same age as mine, but I am only working with one plant, and treating it like a Bonzi tree. Your grow area even looks the same, I'm about to update my 420 thread. I don't really have the whole cloneing thing down, you should see the size of the one I accedently cut. Got any pointers for a newby?
Hi Free Venice. Thanks for stopping by.
:) I would love to help, but I'm a noob my ownself. This is the first time I've ever grown cannabis. I'll come check out your thread though.
Thanks, this isn't my first, but it's the first time I concentrated on one plant. It's tuffer when you give to much attention. . .
Stupid Pat has grown up into the light. One of her leaves has light chlorosis and is limp and hanging. Poor Lily is still short, even though I raised her pot up on a box.
I have to physically pull them out tonight, and make some adjustments. I'm going to tie Pat back down. She's just out of control, and raising the light in the present setup is difficult, to put it mildly.
Watering tonight too, no nutes, just H20, molasses and epsom salts.
Sprayed the clones with Wilt Pruf the other night. (Did I already mention this?) anyway, they are doing well so far. Very green and looking just like they did two days ago when I cut them. In other words, they haven't discolored, or gone wilty or anything negative. I can't wait til they root! I'll be so excited. Then I have to beg for money to buy some Fox Farms dirt.
In non-cannabis news, I have to repot one of our ordinary houseplants, let's see, what kind is it...a gold cappella schefflera. We got this at Home Depot cause it was cheap. 10 bucks for a nice big plant that we figured would look nice in our new home. We bought a golden pothos too. We think plants make a house look like home. Well the damn thing is sick and shocky. Leaves falling off like mad. So I'm going to repot it tonight, spray it with Wilt Pruf, and put one of my fluros on it, since it's been sitting in a dim corner ever since we brought it home. I hate moving. We've been so busy it seems like we don't have time for squat.http://www.plantlife.ie/shop/images/...ella%20web.JPG
I have a dwarf schefflera.....you can bonsai these and air layer them!!! When I moved mine, I put 15w of light over it because it was used to a lot of light (which they like) It helped immensely. Have a great morn, Mrs G. Bree
Hey greenjeans... mashed potatoes checking in...
Check that your schefflera isn't way too wet. In my experience with those things they seem to dislike being soggy.
I noticed your main man has joined us.. wOOtles!!!
:D
Thanks Bree! Good to see you. I miss you ladies on the weekends. And yes, it likes the light.Quote:

What I thought was a fancy decorator wicker planter was, in fact, plant roots. I trimmed them, and scored the rootball to help it break free. If it lives, I'll be impressed. I pruned it too. In for a penny, in for a pound.
I BROKE PAT!
As mentioned, she had gotten so far out of pocket, that I was going to tie her back down. Well I never made it that far. As I was taking her out of the closet, she bumped her head on the hood of the light, and bent! The top 6 inches just went "doink" at a 90 degree angle. Luckily, she didn't snap clean through. I would have cried, because that's the biggest cola on her. So I just sort of gingerly puuussshhhed her head back upright, and left her the hell alone, only bothering her to give her a drinkypoo. She's holding her head up on her own though, so that's good.
I still don't know what to do about getting her away from the light though. I may have to attach a string farther down on her stem, and just sort of lean her away. I'm kind of at a loss. Let me take a picture, maybe someone else will have an idea.
***time passes***
Oh yeah, she is 27 and 1/4" tall from dirt to tip, and what, 3 weeks into an only god knows how lengthy flowering cycle. This was anonymous bagseed, so I have no idea what strain she is or anything, only that she looks to be sativa dominant. With my luck, I got hold of some strain that's best suited to outdoor growing by swarthy men in camoflage, who have all the room in the world to grow a 10 foot plant with a decade long flowering time. hmph.
Oh right then, this is supposed to be a grow log, not a bitchfest. They both took 3 quarts of water. I suspect I have a manganese deficiency. Correction, I suspect I have a manganese lockout, caused by a surplus of magnesium. Of course, I came to this conclusion after I had watered them with a dose of epsom salts and molasses. Aaaannnd, my soil pH is 6.6. Now, my water pH is frigging 8. So now I need to beg for money for some adjuster. But the furnace in our new house doesn't seem to be working. So I think getting money for pH Down may be challenging. I would borrow it from my mom, but I don't really want to tell her I need it because my pot plants need help LOL! Argh. This is becoming a frustrating week.
That's all for now. Here's the picture of Pat trying to escape through the roof.:wtf:
Poor pat. I hope she pulls through alright.
Mrs. G- Sorry about Pat....I snapped one that came back, it was small and certainly not my biggest cola. Also, check carefully, I saw on FOG TV that a plant snapped like that and hermied later.
I've been using real lemon juice for ph down (in the green bottle in fruit section I believe). CHEAP! Might help until you get the professional stuff.
One last thing about that schefflera, thier roots do that. It doesn't necessarily mean it's potboud. They form arial roots (think bonsai). This means it's happy and healthy! Trimming them back was a good thing, they do get out of control. These plants tend to rip up foundations, sidewalks, and plumbing when grown outdoors in tropical climates. I thought mine was rootbound when I got it from someone that was moving out the country...but when I repotted it, this was not the case. In any sense, they can take a lot of pruning when they are healthy...Hope your little bugger does well! ttyl, Bree
Poor Pat, hope she turns out okay, any of that hermie business would be crappy. Especially seeing as it's the biggest cola. I hope them little cut-lings root.
Well you are just a treasure trove of info! Thank goodness! I'm not bad with houseplants, but I haven't had a schefflera before. I usually grow african violets and miniature roses and peace lily. I like flowers.Quote:

Its funny how we had the same problems... expect my broke clean off an hour or so ago and its sitting there crying with the bandages hardly holding her together I can't see what I'm doing. I went to change my LSTing after I got a hold of Invison in the chat, sat down in my closet with the black light on and then the fan got knocked over which then fell directly on the newly applied LST string. Heavy fan and not so strong plant = snapped in half. I think there is something in life out to get me at this point its ridiculous.
At this point if all is lost I'm just gonna take 20 clippings and try and make clones... I have no seeds and no money for anything else blech
Good luck on the recovery!
Hey KL!
What kind of stoner doesn't have random bagseed in the cracks of the couch?:wtf: LOL!
I'm sorry for your misfortune. Pat looks okay today, but if she hermies, I will full on lose it. I still can't get her out of the light.:cursing: She has a death wish.
I can't believe you said "doink". That just killed me. Funny as hell.Quote:

Word greenjeans, when my last tenant moved out, there I was crawling around on my hands and knees picking seeds out of his carpet... because I KNEW that dude only touched headies! LOL! No brick for THAT pot snob! I think I found like 40 or 50 beans! (plus enough rugnugs to pack a bowl)Quote:

If I ever get into my fucking house, I'd love to swap pics. I never did post the bitching thread on the issues we're having with this house. Suffice to say that we closed on Friday, and here it is Wednesday and we still aren't in our house. We're temporarily staying at my mom's, which is a thread in itself.:(Quote:

Pics:
1 - The plant at start of flowering (about 3 weeks in) - considering using this pic as an avatar...
2 - The plant right after it had been snapped and re-righted and bandaged with elecrical tape (look at electrical tape)
3 - 15 minutes after Pic #2. :(
4 - That cola took quite a while to overcome the shock. It was at least a week or two behind in growth compared to the other colas in the closet. It did end up beefing up...but then...!
5 - It went hermie. This could have had something to do with other environmental factors, but since none of the others went hermie, plus another test clone of this same strain flowered without hermies, I definitely think that snapping the meristem (thanks canuck) was a big stress factor that caused the plant to go hermie.
Keep an eye on Pat. Daily. Beware of the evil that is hermaphrodite plants. :o
The Fog :rastasmoke:
Hope the home situation moves warp speed for yas, Mrs. GJ.
Shov (please, do not pee on the plants)
Ugh Fog, that must have been heartbreaking. I hope Pat doesn't do that. There was no outward break. She just sort of bent, kwim? And she looks fine, no droopy or anything.
HAHA! Okay, if you don't make sexist comments any more. I don't need Papi stickin' his chest out and strutting around like a rooster. It'd be a shame to have to hurt him.;)Quote:

Hope you get your house situation sorted out quickly! Can't wait to see the girls in their new home. How are the clones? -c
The clones look cloney. Not much to tell. I'll take a pic later and put it up. I'm being good and not checking them for roots every 5 minutes. I just stuck them in the bubbler, misted them with Wilt Pruf, and let 'em alone.
Not being able to get in the new house sucks, because I can't set up a grow area. I wanted it set up and ready to rock so I could just whisk my girls from one house to the other. I didn't count on a layover at my mom's.
Well probably a short time after my dad and his girlfriend find out I smoke, if they don't know already. We've just never talked about it. But I know my dad grows and I know they smoke alot with their friends, my dad's girlfriend was telling me about it.Quote:

The only thing I don't like about growing is watching that disc on the power meter spin like a CD (As delightfully quoted from you.) I'm cheap tho, I'd have to grow enough to be sure it would be cheaper then buying it.
hopefully pat comes through for you...good luck with that greenjeans ;) :stoned:
im not kidding.. the other day i had a dream where my plants grew huge buds and it was such a nice dream. last night i read this and when i went to bed i had the same dream but at the end a bunch of seeds popped on top of the buds and i was screaming aaaaa!!! ... :D im sure nothing will happen to pat keep it happy:jointsmile:
Yea I'm sure its the bras, I like the red one.. =DQuote:

hey green jeans, thought i'd drop by just read ur whole thread hope pat fattens up. ps loved the bras :). Good luck with the move and grreat DIY'ing think im falling in love :) x Girl after my own heart x
Thanks Trainer, stop by anytime!
ps. I do it myself cause I'm cheap. LOL.
 hey again, im a DIY'er myself from UK tho tuesday spent all day building a 3' by 3' by 3' greenhouse on my balcony for the summer months, i've started off some bagseed and Skunk #1's from Amsterdam and gonna move em outside when the light hours is roughly 12 hrs, about 2 wks, and they should flower naturally. and harvest by middle of may  at moment got a Ruderalis flowering on about 200 watts of CFL's in a cupboard in my flat. Oh Greenhopuse not finished had problems transporting materials home without vehicle :stoned: obviously!
Don't Fret...... My Cabinet gets around 90 Degrees some days and I still end up with 50% females and no hermis.
My avg temp is probs around 82 to 84. Espically when its dark perioud for the plants up top 12/12 and I can't open the Cab doors for the bottom thats runs 18/6
And wiring is easy. Just make sure you look at the Voltage and the Amps.
So If the Fan says, 12V DC 300mA
you need a power supply thats atleast 12V DC 0.3A
If you wanted too hook up 2 fans like that you would need 12V DC 0.6A
It ok to have more Amps than you need but not too much more. for example
I run three Fans on one power supply the Fans are 2 X 12V DC 300mA and one 12V DC 200mA
So the PS is 12V DC 1A so that still leaves me with a small bit of room for one more 200mA fan if I like.
Its pretty easy,, never Mix AC and DC currents, Most fans are DC (Direct Current) You'll be in big trouble if you do that.
Good Luck
