Plant #6
Group shot 7 females/ 3 males. ~DOCO~ wins! lol
Pic#4: Males going to the garbage...:( ...:D
OK! Well, that is the sexing...so far. As I said before, I must've overlooked something because I only put 10 clones from my 13 plants to sex. Now I have 3 clones that are two weeks behind! Still waiting on those.
But so far, GOOD NEWS! We have 7 Females for sure! That's a lotta pasta! What do ya think!
TGF
Yay!! I won!! Now plump those girls up so I can collect my prize!!
Congrats, ~doco~. Good optimistic guess. :D I'm overflowing with foliage...and still cutting clones for some reason. I have nowhere to put them. Trust me, I wish I could give some away...! It will be a shame to have to destroy a female. :( Heresy, sacrilege, blasphemy...vituperation!!! :o
TGF
very nice.. looks like a freaking party...

I might try that...but...they are already rooted and into 4" x 4" cubes. Maybe I'll water them thoroughly and leave them on some street corners. LOL.Quote:

Good updating and great commitment to your project, keep it up.

Lol, yea I would do that too! Just hafta tell me which street corner. But I more than likely dont live near there...AND I dont really have any plants anyway so it'd be invisible. Could you find it?!? ;)
Derrrrr....how far away should I keep my abandoned plants from the MH street light? ROFL :D
Be suave...like shampoo.
TGF
Crap...I have to go back to the last page to see where I left off. So lazy. Lol. Been trying to finish DAY 79 for like a week or more! I could use a hit right now...
~DAY 79~
Pics of the remaining plants in veg. Still have a lot! 3 more to be sexed. They're starting to look better, eh? ;)
TGF
Edit: I just looked at the pics again myself. LOL I guess they're not as "better" as I thought. They do have some nute burn/deficiency. Not sure which but I'm working on figuring that out. Any ideas???
Look at the internodes on that sucker (PIC#5) !!!
Can we say "motherplant?"
:)
TGF
MMMmmmm....stemmier.
I think these are all from PLANT #3. Beast of a plant. :) Internodes galore. :) 1 meter tall! :) MALE :(:(:(
More pics of PLANT #3. I know it is a little redundant, but this is to show what pre-flowers look like...right? I mean I was a little wary about trusting preflowers before I actually flowered and saw for myself. Pic#2 shows them the best.
I also have to go back and check which matched with which, because some of them started to have little "balls" around the internodes but I wasnt sure if that was a true preflower or not...not all of them had them.
I read about preflowers here but like I said, not very many GOOD pictures of them so hopefully someone can verify this for me and then we CAN have at least 1 good pic of some male preflowers for those who are doing research before they start a grow.
Wow, researching before you start a grow...what a concept!!!

Dunno why I put picture # 3 there...just cuz I can, I guess.

wow i have to take my hat off to the unknown author of that mysterious marble notebook...hes done a great job so far...and is looking at an excellent harvest.. round of applause for the unknown author:clap: ...lol
I'm sure he is out there reading this secretly somewhere and greatly appreciates your round of applause. :D I have a feeling he learned something from you too.
Just a vessel,
TGF
Well, I have some more pics of DAY 79, but I dont want to put so many that I dont give anyone a time to read/browse/respond. But maybe I'll change my mind when I smoke a nice fat bud in my bowl and post them anyway. They're cool, IMO.

never enough pics i have 125megs just in pics of my grow :)
Yea, I hear ya. I love pics. Especially for all these people who DONT READ before they post seeminly-absurd questions and comments. :cursing: No, but really, everyone loves pics, as I do, and I'm happy to share them. Plus, they can show people somewhat what they have to expect in each stage of their grow, visually. I just hope they are appreciated, cuz I might have carpal-tunnel after finishing this thread! lol ;)
:D:D
I love everyone.
TGF
Hey Greenfog...what are the max temps you experience during flower in you cab/room?
I am really digging your love and dedication to ROCKWOOL CUBES!!
: )
Well, as of now. I only have the rubbermaid grow cab going in "flower." The temps in there stay a cool 27C/80F.
I have 4 flourescent lights with one very small space fan taped into a hole for exhaust and 6 holes (1/2" I think) for passive intake (3 on either side at the bottom). It works like a charm. I am currently using it only for my sexing cab, but now that it has served its purpose,
I am debating whether to use it to grow those "test-clones" to maturity or just toss 'em and scrog on nice plant in there. It is a very nice little cab. It could be done the same way with a wooden cabinet-type cab.
Mylar the sides, put an exhaust fan (or 2), stick in some CFLs (I use 24w full spectrum bulbs, which are extremely cool compared to the 42w ones), poke some intake holes, and you're done. Timer and temp gauges, a must. KISS for sure. Simple as pie. Seems small for my grow...but for 1 or 2 small plants, it may be enough for a full cycle.
Ok...well, temps are very stable and cool. That's the answer to your question. Lol Ambient is about 76, cab goes to 80.
:rasta:...seriously.

Now that I get to sink them into the hydroton, I think they will get even better. I kind of wish I didn't start with so many plants, but I had to be sure I'd get enough females, and hey, it was just bagseed anyway. What's a couple of seeds?! Well, now I'm outta room! LOL
Will post more pics tmw for sure. keep checkin' in!
Be cool.
TGF
Edit: I will try to type more about my love for rockwool tmw also. :D
Well, guys, it's a new day, and time for some new fun. Well, new day in for me at least. Still on the same DAY 79 in the grow though. I have so many damn pictures (about 150 just for DAY 79 ) that it takes me a long time to post them all!
But first, GK & Invision had mentioned the rockwool oddity part of my grow, which I really dont find that odd, but I guess it is not the must orthodox way to do a grow. There are of course positives and negatives to growing soley in a rockwool substrate.
Positives:
Easy to move/adjust plants.
Rockwool holds almost the perfect amount of water. It is difficult to overwater them. I read somewhere that said they hold 18% air at all times. I dont know if this is true, but I "dont think" I've had any overwatering problems. They are easy to check to see if they are moist: light = dry & heavy/squishy = wet!
Very clean. No messing with overflowing NFT/DWC systems or messy soil. Now I'm not bunking soil in the least. I would love to do a soil grow and use organics, but for practical reasons, rockwool is better (cleaner).
Negatives:
It is not soil. It is made from pulverized and spun fibers of...ROCK. Mainly basalt. Someone likened it to making cotton candy out of rock.
Rock has a higher pH than some, therefore I have to adjust the pH of the water lower than I would usually to account for the increase in pH in the runoff.
Susceptible to mold. If you look in some of my pictures, I have mold growing on almost every one of my rockwool cubes. I was first noticing white salt build ups (which might be another negative) but then came the brown mold. Ewww. I assume this will appear anywhere you have high humidity, light and air. One must cover one's rockwool - imperative.
^^^However, the mold has not seemed to affect the plants' growth. Odd.
So this is my take on rockwool. I'm sure it's not fully comprehensive, but it is what I could think of off the top of my head.
(looong pause)
I started this damn post like 3 or 4 hours ago. I've been SO busy!!! I'm just gonna post it now so I dont lose it. And cuz I've lost my train of thought.
Little stressed...would love some destresser medicine. ;) :rasta:
TGF
Weeeelll, then. I guess no one has any comments on the rockwool post. Hmmm. Did I waste my time? I hate doing that. :upsidedow
Meh, well. Maybe you are all just not there right now. Maybe I'll go start a thread with it or something...or add it to that rockwool thread I've seen here.
ANYWAY, it's that time again. Pics, pics and more pics. I hope you like the way I've done things.
TGF
Oh, and all you lurkers out there, come join the board and post some of your comments in my thread. It's gettin lonely up in here. Thanks to all of those who HAVE taken the time to comment/help/criticize. That's what it's all about. :):)
Ok, well, I've gotten rid of about 5 plants or so. 2 big ones (#7 & #3) and a few smaller ones too. All were male, of course. I still have 3 plants of which I am not sure of the sex, but they have clones in the process of being flowered for sex, hot sex. lol I kill myself...no but seriously.
In my left side veg,
I have chosen PLANT #5 as my "Mamacita" plant. That's Motherplant for those of you who were stoned in Spanish class. :D It is by far the branchiest, best looking plant of the bunch. I was really hoping it was female so it could become my mother. It was behind for a while (probably just behind those aggressive males) but it caught up and surpassed most in quality of branches, etc.
I have PLANT #11, which is a nice, stocky little plant that I grew from a top of my original #11. The original #11 was pretty f**ked up. It was burned, and just basically "runty." When I took the top, the top grew SO NICELY, that I separated it from the other clones and grew it down in the veg area. When it was time to sex my test-clones, I couldnt bear to put it in, so that is one of the reasons why I missed 3 plants. That was one of them. It has NO stretching at the bottom, which I love, and it is just overall nice looking. I did top it...not sure if I did that before or after this pic, I'll have to go back and look.
PLANT #10 is also being kept in the left side veg area. It is a nice, branchy plant with lot of internodes, but I do not know the sex of it yet.
In my right side "flower" room,
I have numbers 12, 1, 2, ...oh crap I forgot. Again, hafta go back and look. I have so many meter-tall plants, that I cant keep them all as mothers, and I really dont need to clone that much, cuz sh*t, I just dont have anymore room!
I know I have already ditched plants #3, #7, #8, and #12.
I did not fully throw 12 away, because I didnt know its sex. I just knew it was stretched as hell and had very little internodes, and I have no room. SO, I topped it, and cloned it and then "threw away" the 3' part.
Wow, its hard for me to keep up with them all!
Will type more in the next post. :D:D
TGF
Ok, well, apparently I didnt include a pic of my Mamacita or even my left side veg room. Hmmm. Well, here are a few pics of Mambo #5, my motherplant.
(angels sing)
I obviously potted her. Took off the white plastic around the cube, and potted her in hydroton. Hope she's happy in her new home.
Will post the left-side veg pics in the next post...I think. :D
Cdot, meet Mambo #5. :D
TGF
Well, I just looked at the pics in the above post^^^ and I think I might need bigger pots. Granted, the pic is taken at a birds-eye view, so the perspective is a little off, but still....
pondering......
Ok, still DAY 79.
Putting 5 of the large plants in the flowering room. Hope to flower soon. They are all females. They are sunken in hydroton. I need more. I dont know if they will choke eachother out or not. I also hope they do not "DOUBLE" in size...or even "triple," cuz then I will be screwed, for lack of a better term. Well, not lack of...lol.
TGF
Still DAY 79
Whew, this is a lot of work. Lots of plants to move, water, trim, clone, take pictures of, etc etc.
Here is the left side veg room. I just have 3 plants in there now. Mambo #5, Heaven #11, and Bony #10 (We dont know what #10 is yet. I have a feeling its goin to be a girl ;) )
TGF
One more of the left-side veg. That plant in front is #11's top, #11a. It has been topped also. :D:D
TGF
yawn...
So, TGF.....this journal that you came across...and that you are posting pictures of... it's already in the can right? Harvested? And you are giving us episodes, sort of like a TV show? I gotta admit, when I first saw those poor little seedlings all stretched out to like 6 inches, I wasn't too sure about it but it sure has blossomed into a great grow. And for a first grow too!! Cloning, hydroton, rockwool...pretty advanced for a first try. I stand amazed....
Wideshot(s)...why so many? Cuz I can. :D:D
Hey, ~doco~. Glad to see someone coming on and posting. It gets lonely over here. ;) To answer your question...read my very first post...:DQuote:

I'm glad you like the thread tho. I have had my fair share of worries but have loved watching them grow. It is amazing that such a big plant can come out of such a tiny seed. Nature is full of miracles. :D:D:D
TGF
I have a question for everyone out there.
I know I have gotten an answer from at least ONE person, but I there have been so many "views" to this post, yet, very few responses. The 9 pages consists basically of hundreds upon hundreds of pics and commentary by me.
Although I enjoy doing this, even if it is for my own benefit alone, I would love to know that this is in someway helping others grow. I also have asked for some advice on what I am doing wrong, and have gotten very little of that.
I have been looking at some of my recent pics and my plants look friggin horrible compared to many I've seen on this site. I realize why I've had many of the problems, due to lack of light (stretching), nute burn (duh), over-crowding, contamination, etc. BUT, these are all things I've figured out myself just by reading other people's posts. If you've heard the saying, "Two heads are better than one," I would love to hear some of your takes on my opinions. :D:D
Either way, I will probably still continue posting. I have actually FINALLY finished posting DAY 79 and am moving on to DAY 83...where we do some LST, see some flowers, and other exciting stuff. I will wait for a while to let some people catch up on the thread, posting only seldomly to keep the post in the readers' eyesight. ;) I'm very excited to see the next few weeks!!! STAY TUNED...to GreenFogTV!!! LOL
Be solid...like a rock!
TGF
Dont have time to proofread so pls excuse any errors. ;)
Ok...well, enough waiting. I have time so I'm doing it now...here comes DAY 83. I have about 80 pictures of this day...I will try not to post all of them..but hey, even if I do, that's only 16 posts. LOL. You guys are gonna have to start advising me on some of this stuff real soon!! ;)
Ok here it comes... forboding music...
