These guys were pretty obscure, I was turned on to them in '66. The original release was on a 45 rpm vinyl . Something most of these youngster have probably never seen outside of a museum. I think I paid a dollar for the record. :D

Surprising that theres yet to be any mentioning of Otis Redding, perhaps one of the greatest soul/R&B artists to emerge in the 1960's. Well here it goes:

Sadly, this would turn out to be Otis' final TV appearance. The day after this TV taping, Otis' plane had crashed into the icy waters of Lake Monona near Madison, Wisconsin. Otis, his valet, the pilot, and four members of the Bar-Kays died at the bottom of that frozen lake.

Same thing happened to me at a free Wilson Pickett concert. I had a great time....:thumbsup:..'67.

Saw Buddy Miles in concert. His band was so tight that during a song, when some rent-a-cops started hassling some stoners, he stopped the band (on a dime) and told the cops to quit hassling those people. The band then picked up the song on the exact beat like you had raised a stylus on a record and then put it right back down. Good stuff man.

Not sure what the deal is with the babes in this video, but I went with it. :D

Saw many good concerts at McNichols and also Red Rocks.

Two concerts I saw at Red Rocks that stick in my mind are Renaissance backed up by Jean Luc Ponty. Perfect bands for a concert under the stars. :stoned:

The other was America with Poco backing them up. Poco stole the show and had everyone dancing. It was an electric sort of thing I can't really explain. America actually got booed (even though they played fine) and the chant went up for Poco. America probably never wanted Poco backing them up again. :D
