You have a humidity dome over top, yes? You can also cut the fan leaves in half (not lengthwise but across the width). This will keep them from expiring moisture. But you likely know this already.Quote:

Lack of light is the determining factor for mold. Fungus is a threat in warm and damp conditions. If you keep them reasonably lit, clean environment between 68 - 78 degrees you should be fine. I've had clones under for 15 days without issue.Quote:

Sorry I misspoke. Clones don't like tons of light, especially if it comes with heat. Adequate lighting would be a shop fluro or T5 up about 1 foot. Ideal lighting would be an LED. You don't need or really want more than that for the first few days. You can ramp it up slowly after that. Also, as they start to form root buds, be sure to remove the dome for a few hours / day to harden them off. Again, I'm guessing you know most of this. Just my 2 cents.Quote:

So far my clone is doing ok, to make up for the lost clone I decided to plant 2 more seeds just in case, that way I know I am covered. Funniest thing, I saw a ladybug crawling in my sink I thought to myself, what the hell, I will throw her ass in there with the clone. No mites on this baybee. :D

Getting some droopy yellow leaves, probably normal but any advice is welcome.
Those plants look so healthy and delicious... I'm pretty amazed. I wish that I lived in your area so badly so I could smoke that! Your final result will easily blow the best stuff that I've ever smoked out of the water.

No clue on the yellowing leaves,... might not be getting enough light, so the plant is recycling them..... might be a bigger problem,... I see splotches in the bottom leaf in one of the pics. :wtf:
Can you get a better pic and maybe post it in the "Plant Problems" forum on this site,... there's some over there that tend to linger there and not visit the grow logs often.
Odds are it's nothing,... but can't hurt to check. ;)

I wanted to add, I haven't been checking pH level in the water for the past couple of waterings, so today to make certain I did that and low and behold the pH was like 5.0- so, to quickly fix this, I held off nutes, and just used straight tap water with molasses and adjusted pH to around 6.7, runoff pH was around 6.2-6.5 so I am guessing the plants should bounce back soon. Best guess is nute lockout for a few days, considering I haven't seen any vertical growth, just flower growth, and yellowing droopy and a few burnt looking leaves (most likely a little too much nutes) all should be back to normal in no time :)
Those Jack's Classic nutes really pack a punch man, just a little bit goes a real long ways.

I will take some pics tonight when light cycle is on.
They lost alot of fan leaves, but overall they are doing fine. The tops are weighing down the plants, so they do kind of droop off to the side.

I can tell by the yellowing that I used a little too much nutes on them so a little lockout occurred as well as nute burn, no big deal, the plants still seem to be taking it pretty well, I plan to cut them down in about a week and a half. I have not been using nutes in any waterings since. The buds are getting so much mass that they are literally weighing down the stalk, so I used a home-made sling out of duct tape to hold it up. In my future logs I will definitely not be using as much on the nutes, if I had used less I would probably yield alot more. I will let you guys know when they are cut down.
Gimmie a size comparison on the cola,.... bic lighter,... beer bottle,... 2 liter bottle,.... something!

Cutting them both down in 3 days, will update when it's time.
Here they are all cut down, and I am still not finished with the second plant yet. I also need to find a scale to get the total weight.
They have been cut down for about 2 days now, and I already notice alot of loss of mass most likely due to water evaporation, but as of right now this is what they look like:

looking good for a first grow. Just wait until you get to smoke it in front of your friends. Your altering your state of mind with something that you created, I always thinking about it like that.
In some of the pics it looks like you have some spider mite damage. Did you ever notice any bugs? Did you notice anything wierd about the leaves like little white spots? Notice anything of the under sides of the leaves?
You should check around and make sure you kill them before you put anymore plants in there. They can be a pain in these ass to contain.

+1, there will be eggs in the soil, so bugs will return. The nutes are all blown out, and if using salt based added nutes it'll be LOADED with salt. You'd have to rinse the crap out of it then bake it like a cake to kill pests,.... then your left with just plane ol peat. Save yourself the trouble and get a new bag.
As for the bugs keep the room as tidy as possible, and apply neem during vege. I mist my veging plants with neem every couple weeks, and have to access my flowering room THRU my veging room, so any mites that find their way into my room eat neem and die before they find my flowering room! :chainsaw:
Read the MSDS on the "No Pest Strip"! :eek: then combine the scary shit you just read with the fact that mites can become resistant to the main ingredient and you'll use it to fog your storage shed for beetles from here out.
P.S. combined with a few other precautions I haven't EVER seen a mite in my rooms. Had em bad upstairs on a couple houseplants (Neem knocked em out after we found em!), but not 1! where it's important. ;)

Awesome news my friends, my Girlfriends sister (the one I "give" the plant aftermath to) says that it is the best sh*t shes ever smoked, and she is a major pothead that has had alot of different varieties of the MJ. She was on the phone with my gf after she smoked, and you could definitely tell she was stoned by her voice, and she kept repeating herself and giggling hahaha. She said the second she saw it that it was of good quality by the smell of it and the hairs+crystals. She wants alot more =D =D So this is good news that makes me proud :D
In other aspects of this grow I learned that when you start to see leaves randomly turning brown on the tips and white spots on the tops of the leaves, don't assume your pH is off, because chances are it is definitely spider mites. The webs are nearly impossible to spot unless you are really close or have a magnifying glass (or if the outbreak is out of control you will see it) To prevent and avoid this from future grows, I have purchased an 8oz jug type deal of neem oil from Amazon, it should be here soon (within a week) so that will help me in the future if this happens again, I also bought a couple more bags of FFOF ($65.00) shipped (Amazon). To be completely honest they did do alot of damage to the fan leaves near the end, causing all the leaves that collect light to wither and die off. Thank God it was the end otherwise I could have lost that entire plant.
They really are not easy to get rid of by any means, sure the HotShot strip did stop them in their tracks at the end, but by that time the damage had been done.
How well will neem oil help if this outbreak occurs again? And is it true that spider mites can build an immunity to the HotShot strips, can I please see proof.

hmm, almost same setup 400w hps here and 4 plants also jacks classic AK tho mixd with a strong indica im at only 28 day flower but wow, got a weight?

side note i keep my AC from freeze'n up by blocking one of the side air intake grooves area deally... try it, i did but be carefull dont wanna burn out... great results for me, think it draws more from front preventing freeze up 65-85 deg F. max
I wish I could show documentation on the resistance, but i've only heard whisperings of it, and seen it IRL on a friends grow. The mites popped up, he put the hot shots strip in there, and it killed em dead,.... then about 3 weeks later they were back. This time one strip did nothing, so he put 2 in there and the results were the same, nothing happened they just kept breeding and eating his plants. Neem works on infestations, but is better used as a prevention, if you apply once, then let the plant veg more it will have new growth at the tops (where the mites migrate towards) that is safe for them to eat. I spray my veg room every couple weeks to keep the new growth covered. I only use in veg since it stinks to high hell, and I don't want my buds to taste like that, tho you could use it thru week 2 flower without it effecting the flavor.
I often worry about my flowering plants, but I know they went in clean, so as long as "I" go in clean then there shouldn't be a method for mites to get in there.;)

Hey guys, it has been a while! I will be starting up a new grow log soon. I ordered some AK-47 and some G-13 from SensiSeeds from the Attitude website and got all kinds of UFO and other freebies! If you guys order from Attitude, use coupon code 420 for a discount. I ended up paying ALOT for the AK-47 as well as the G13 strain. Supposedly it is the best stuff, when grown properly of course. I will use the same method from this grow log to grow both of these strains but with a MUCH better controller environment where I will be using Neem Oil sooner rather than later, and I will be using my same mixture types throughout the grow process.
I recommend to all those that want to grow some really kickass stuff that any weed head would like to use my grow log as a guide and reference to methods of growing in the future, I would be very pleased to see someone replicate my grow on a different strain and let me know how it turns out for them. The single worst threat to be aware of is those damn spoder mites, spray your plants with neem oil even if you don't see anything on them. It is a good rule of thumb to spray neem oil on the top soil as well as the leaves I would say at least once every couple of weeks to be safe, and never spray ANYTHING once you start flowering!
On my next grow I am going to have half a room to work with for a grow room so I will make a very impressive grow log and I will also make vlog's (video logs) that way you guys can get my specifics.
P.S. - If there are any Massholes around here, I recommend purchasing your Fox Farms Ocean Forest bags of soil from HTGSupply in Shrewsbury Ma - they are selling 1.5cu/ft bags for $22.00 total (if you pick it up in store). You will need to travel an hour away but let me tell you that place is WELL WORTH the trip and the price for that size bag is UNBEATABLE!!!, once you go in and see all the different setup types and shit they have you guys will feel like kids in a candy store - one thing that threw mw off was they did not seem to carry Jacks Classic Organic water soluable plant food!, just make sure if you go to avoid the lady bitch that works there with short hair she is an effing bitch man and she tries to get in to your business and she is miserable as fuck. If you do happen to check it out talk to a dude named Dan, he is cool and knows his stuff and helped me out on the pricing for the bags since I ordered 5 50lb bags he got clearance from his manager to give me $2 off each bag so I paid $102.00 for 5 bags of it. He told me that the ebay store sells most of the grow lights and setups for less than they do in store but for the soil they don't because it is 50lb bags so shipping costs more than the soil itself which is why I made the hour trip I saved over $100 on shipping. So if you plan on using my method to grow make sure you get plenty of perlite as well and quite a few bags for future grows. And do NOT forget to get Jack's Classic All Purpose and Jack's Classic Blossom Booster - Dan heard about both of them but never gave them a try because there are just so many nutes to choose from these days. We both agreed that companies selling 3 separate nutes for grows are ripping uneducated people off to make an extra buck (shame on FF nutes!), but I do have to admit they have the BEST soil mixture. I modify my own soil with extra worm castings and 5% extra bat guano for added nutrients, and as you guys can see from my particular FIRST GROW, my plants grew amazingly well!
He also told me that he prefers soil grow to hydro because of the simple fact that it is very easy to kill an entire harvest from the slightest mistake and that you need to monitor your grow so close that it almost takes up all your time, and with that being said it is just not worth it since soil grows are alot more forgiving and most people prefer soil grows for the taste factor as well as THC and CBN production. The only upside to hydro is that the plant grows faster, that does not mean it has better THC production. We got along very well and we both know from the way we talked to each other that we are growing the same things at home ;) They have cacti and other plants growing in the store under HPS lights but we know whats growing at home :p He was actually very intrigued by the Jack's Classic nutes as I suggested it to him and showed him my growth and he was speechless, and he really asked me "Are you sure this is your first time growing"? And then he continued on to suggesting to his store manager that they start carrying Jack's and promoting it because it has results and I had him look up the composition of it online. I told him that opposed to normal nutes that Jack's is all organic and water soluable so it can be used for either a hydro or soil grow, I let him know that both containers (no matter how many plant's you grow that those containers will last a LIFETIME worth of grows).. And the pricing is so unbelievably low that it sells itself - I even mentioned that the place that I purchased mine from in my home city they swear by it for all their indoor and outdoor plants, and they only mix in a TINY TINY bit - like a very small spoonful in to a tub of water and they even did comparisons to plants not using it and plants using it and the difference was amazing... Same grow conditions, only difference was the Jack's and I swear on my kids lives that once you use Jack's you will never use any other nutes again because it speaks for itself with results, I am willing to bet that anyone here using it likes it more than any other overpriced bottle of nutes that they have ever used. I am not selling it but I did compare it just like my local nursery and the growth is staggering to the point where I cannot understand why the price is so damn low and yet it is PERFECT for marijuana! People are not as educated on growing as they should be, and take it from me that Jack's Classic is simply the LOWEST PRICED AND VERY BEST ORGANIC NUTES ON THE MARKET, HANDS DOWN! Jack's will put any other nute to shame, not to mention it is concentrated which is why it will last you FOREVER!
Anyways that is my rant on my p.s. and I will keep you guys up to date when I start my second grow! I will even make sure I do video log as well so you can get a live performance.
p.p.s. - If you choose to use FFOF Soil with a perlite mix with worm castings and bat guano, do not start off with ANY nutes as this will burn the babies, give it a few weeks to grow and after about 20 watering, then go VERY VERY VERY EXTREMELY light on using jack's. I mean like 1/32 of a teaspoon. You need to basically take a very small pinch and mix it in with a gallon of poland springs water - that is the kind of dilution you will need wince it is a concentrated nute, and that should do you perfect! If you don't notice any yellowing within a few days on the tips of the fan leaves, use a slightly larger pinch every other watering, once you see the tips of the fan leaves start to turn yellow, you are using too much, and back off. Basically use nutes on every other watering. Or every third watering. And do not forget to take it VERY EASY, FFOF has the perfect mixture as it is, so take it very easy!
So watering should be somewhat like this:
Get a whole bunch of 24 packs of the bottles, and a few gallons of it.
- Brand of Water: Poland Springs (It has the perfect pH for marijuana, no need to adjust).
- Use normal bottles for watering until you see a little runoff on the bottom, make sure to water as it gets dry - you want the roots to search a little bit for water so don't overdo it and don't water them every day, every 3rd-4th day is good. Just make sure it doesn't dry out completely an inch down in the soil.
- Once the plants are more mature and you have watered enough so that some nutrients have been watered down. Add a tiny pinch of Jack's All Purpose to the gallon jug and shake thoroughly. Water each plant every 4th-5th day. If you notice tips of leaves getting yellow, switch back to the regular bottles, just make sure you don't over do the nutes, and they do not need it every watering, once every third or fourth watering might just do fine. Keep an eye on the leaves tips, if they are a tiny bit yellow, that is ok, but too much means they are getting too much nutes and you should do a flush of the soil using the bottled water. And then wait for it to dry out and water with no nutes as it drys.
