The babies are already smelling very Skunky....
I will probably post photos once a week now that I have got them up and going. Here are todays pics:
if they smell skunky now.....wait till their 2 days away from harvest, thats skunky
but looks good so far
Totally cool set up! i have a 1kw light that will totally fry up a 15 x20 room in a few hours. I set up an inline fan from the light to the bedroom window and it COMPLETELY solved my heat problem. Wouldn't have been able to continue growing if it hadn't worked--as it was we had central AC going in the middle of summer AND a window ac in the same room and barely kept the heat contained. The inline fan works excellently and I don't need any extra cooling etc for the room with it. Try one if you can.
THANKS for the fan suggestion. I assume it would insulate the light from the closet basically and just blow the heat right out. I am working on venting... I may have to vent back to my return air as I cant vent the smell out any of the available windows...
I continue to try to keep them alive:) I had a canoeing problem on one plant. I had too little of the brown nute in the solution I think. Then the bubbler got blocked with some calcium buidup and that plant really suffered from the heat. Anyways, I pulled that plant and put it in soil and gave it away to a window grower. And the original Runt, that had the best stem, got broken somehow. I propped it up, but it got knocked over again and was obviously going to be the weakest in that pot. So, I am down to 2.
Here are the pics of the 2 I hope to harvest. One in each bucket... I have them at full veg nutes of the General Hydroponics solutions. I am using tap water and adding dechlorinator. (I would definitely recommend Distilled water and will be flushing and using distilled at my next water change). I am not using any PH down at this point, but am changing ALL the water once a week. Cash flow is an issue...
If I get a female for clones from these 2, I WILL be happy! It was good local weed...
Here is a full size pic of my Avatar pic. I wish when you clicked them, they enlarged instead of going to your profile...
Yea it will get easier...as you know I'm almost done with my first grow. When they get going good they become much hardier. I used to stress over imperfections on the leaves but now there is so many leaves it doesn't matter. I just look at the general health of the plant and inspect leaves close for pests.
Do they smell minty? Mine did from the second week, they have been smelling more "dankish" as time gos on. Now that im close to finishing everyday they smell much much more than the last.
Todays pics. Wondering when I can sex and when I should bloom???
I am wanting to throw these into flower. I realize it mat be a little early, but I feel like my main objective should be to get Females! Basically I have gone from full veg nutes to veg/bloom transition nutes (GH). I have also went from 24/0 (which I think is too long for lights anyways...) down to 18/6. BUT, I am reintruducing the 430 watt HPS as soon as I have the vent hooked up (hopefully tomorrow). I also have to mylar my cabinet, etc...
Anyways, here are plant pics. Any thoughs would be appreciated.
I do have a 9 fan leaf on the top of each plant...

For me, the time to put them into bloom is all about size. Assuming you have germinated & rooted & veged apropo according to GP guidelines, rule-of-thumb is typically 12 to 18 inches. Be aware...the difference in sizes of the plant at 10 weeks depending when you put them into bloom (12 or 18 in) can be over-whelming. I had one clone that got infested with caterpillars and after treatment, it stunted it by a couple of weeks & when the healthy one was 12 to 18 in, the runt was laboring to get out of clone stage and only about 8 to 10 in tall. By the time it was 12 in, the other one was about 20 in and it just took over the whole grow area over the next 7 to 8 wks. Keep them equal in size and bloom at about 14 in. They are going to head for the light(s) anyway and maybe with limited space, you can do the sea-of-green technique.

If you've done your rooting homework, then going into vege you should have some handsome looking broad leaves (errr.. like your pic... :>} ) to catch sunlight and stems with even node lengths up the plant. Deep green with blue veins....
Do keep in mind, they really reach out and take up space. You will need to thin accordingly to allow light to the lower leaves...Monty
