All in all, I'm not disappointed at all after the dust has settled.
And you know why, lol?
Because the U.S. tied the eventual champions 1-1 and were a man down. : ) Just try and us that we're garbage :p
Seriously though, I saw an amazing month of football, and wouldn't change any of it for the world. My dream would be to see a few games in South Africa in 2010. Who's with me?
im goin euro 2008 ;)
i wanna see euro 08 as well. ill be living in england anyway, so its nearby. if i have money i wanna go to south africa, but its not gonna be the same atmosphere as germany. i hope it will be tho...
Well. Here's my two cents worth as an american soccer..ahem...football player and fan and whose parents are each immigrants from two different world cup winning nations.
Best team debut: Australia and Ghana. Australia was robbed.
Best individual debut:
1.Ribery (FRA)
2. Podolski (GER)
Unofficial Most Unsportsmanlike Award (team): PORTUGAL (fouls, cards, dives, complaints, throwing water bottles....total bitches honestly)
Runner-up: ARGENTINA...total sore losers..deserved to be sent home.
Unofficial FIFA Most unsportsmanlike Award (player):
1. Cristiano Ronaldo (He's really good but a total diving cryin bich)
2. Wayne Rooney (this kid needs to chill and he will rule football.
3. Mattarazi (this guy is just a f--kin' shithead)
yeah I guess Zidane too.. but he was provoked.
Worst game:
1. Judgement at Nuremberg. Portugal vs. the Netherlands. Hack fest 2006.
2. Italy vs. the USA (How many players can you send off in one game?)
Biggest disappointments (team):
1. BRAZIL. Dude, oh shit did we just lose? Wait....don't we always win?
2. ENGLAND. Dude, where's the GOAL? What do you mean we have no strikers left?
Biggest disappoinments (player)
The three R's : Ronaldo, Ronaldihno and Rooney
Honorable mention: Ballach, Beckham
Still the fuckin' Man yet no one seems to give much of a shit:
KLOSE. This guy is the best all around striker there is in the past World Cups, shows up and scores period. But he's not a pretty boy so he gets no press. Maybe because he's really polish.
Dude..I am a full on USA supporter. But let's be real.Quote:

We "tied" Italy only because they scored on themselves and then we got called for a crap penalty. With a good ref and 11 on 11 we would have lost. Maybe drawn 0-0.
You know why? Because we cannot score. At least not at the level that is required to do well in an international tournament. Sure we can hang with the best but to actually BEAT them takes a little more than NOT losing.
Yeah McBride is good. Are players are GOOD. But to do well in the World Cup you have to be GREAT. We're on the same level as say a decent aisan or central/south american team. Like a Paraguay or a South Korea. They're not bad...but they are not winning the world cup anytime soon.
I'm sick of Donovan. He just sucked. Maybe he should be playing in Europe instead of being a homesick baby and playing for the LA galaxy. That's not going to prepare you to lead the team in the WC for chrissake.
Bruce Arena is out of his league. We need a coach that knows international football because he has been THERE. Like a Gus Hiddink etc. Bruce is really just a glorified college coach who got lucky in 2002. I love the guy but he should be coaching in the MLS.
Maybe Klinsmann will come coach us..but I doubt it now.
this is a random note: world cup suicide...why?

i agree with motahead mostly, but there were far more dissapointing players...the players that play so well for their clubs cant play with the national team because the coaches cant get a gameplan going, and cant sort out tactics. teamwork has gone down the drain, and theres no way you can shine without the help of others.
Lol, I get you man, and when I said that, I was joking, hence the smiley with his tounge out....:pQuote:

He was hoping to just sit back and play solid, uber-conservative football and hope to get lucky like in 2002 when they went to the Quarterfinals by the hand of God. There was not nearly enough urgency in his game plan, and thus the players naturally didn't perform like everyone expected.
They need some new blood in there. I would be all for a guy like Eric Wynalda at this point, because haha, let's face it, he sucks as an announcer, but at least he's played at that level. There were talks of possibly having him coach, so we'll see.
Right on..I new you were kidding. Nice to see another US soccer fan...who tokes too.
Yeah we need a new coach. Wynalda would be cool or John Harkes somebody who knows their shit and has been there. I'm hoping that maybe one of those dudes will be an assistant coach and we can get somebody who has proven management skills internationally and then Wynalda and Harkes can provide the american influence.
But we also need some players..like the kind who will bust their asses in Europe even if they don't play...they still will be practicing and training at a level that we need them to play at.
I thought Convey and Dempsey and Eddie Johnson did well..they were taking guys on and going for goal. We HAVE to be able to score.
I think Arena held on too long to guys that although are great US players, just don't have the pace anymore..like Reyna and Pope for instance.
For us to compete, the team has to make up what it lacks in skill with fitness..for that you can't have guys over 30 out there realistically.
we'll see what happens now..
wtf this aint politics load of crap!
