I would tend to disagree with you there. You are just as responsible for your government as those who voted for it. And your nation is way too out of control!! If you don't like the negative vibes from non-americans, so be it. As a free voting american, it is your burden to bare.
Anyway, how much did you do during the last election to secure votes for someone other than Bush? In Canada, we have a new government in power that is starting to look alot like Amerika juniour. I feel partly responsible and feel I should have done more during our last election. I'm not content to sit back and let it happen next time and have already started pushing buttons in the editorial pages. I plan to be a full time volunteer for the next election campaign. I do not, as a Canadian, want to be recieving the negative vibes recieved by so many americans. But unless I change my government, I will deserve them no less.

Are you really saying that it's okay for people to pick on others because of their nationality? Maybe that paragraph was a typo. Either that or you've already absorbed some of that lovely American flavor from across the border.

Pretend your married with several childern, your in your 40s-50s, your not rich, but your not poor either, for the most part everyone around you has the same amount of money, goods, etc....
Then one day a young couple in thier 20s with kids moves in next to you, they have more, and better cars, thier kids have better clothes, food, and medical care, thier opinions carries more weight in the town...
Would you feel a little envy? Would you ask yourself why don't we have all that stuff? What did we do wrong?
Mayby i did not get it right, but are you saying that most americans got almost the same amount of money, good etc? And that europeans with anti american ideas is jealous?

Let's not forget that EVERY country that was a world leader, at one time, rec'd the same comments that America is getting today.
America is far from perfect, but compared to many others its heaven.
China is 5000 years old- America is 250 years old- who has landed on the moon?(among the many "first") who saved Europe TWICE in the last 100 years?
Without America the world today would be a very bad place to live....

you cant say the world would be a bad place without america, it would be different. Everything has a flip side. America helped win WWII but they also developed the first atom bomb and dropped it on Hiroshima.

Most leaders make decisions based on facts. Bush makes facts based on decisions. Heheh. Seriously though, I think it's great that these threads are here. It proves that people who smoke marijuana are thoughtful individuals. I am an American, and am proud to be. Not because of my government, not because of my freedoms that are every day being slowly taken from me, and definitely not because of my leader. With that said, I am HIV-negative, which cannot be said for those living in Africa. I am also well-educated, I can read and write, and have my own choice of religion. Every country has its problems, and sure, mine might have a little bit more than others, but at least I live my own life, and in all reality, that's all I really want out of this world.

Of course...I was young when saigon fell...but I have watched actual footage of the airlifts from the rooftops when the north was closing in and it was just heartbreaking..and all the children that was seperated from their parents because the children were airlifted out as quickly as possible but no room for their parents....but who did we have to save the children and women when England ruled..America stood on her own basically so....as you said...realities and politics...same thing happened between the war of states here..when the yankess helped"liberate" the slaves..seems that the part of them also raping southern women and killing children have been totally "forgotten" in the teachings of that war...can happen anywhere...anytime...and yes it is sad to me..very sad...

Generally speaking, most Americans have a decent place to live, have the ability to purchase a car, dine out, etc. Even the poor in this country have A.C., cable T.V, microwaves, Ipods, etc.
Many Euros believe they are culturally superior to the U.S. Many Arabs believe they are religiously supererior to the U.S.
Both look at the U.S. and ask themselves, "how is a country like this on top?" Because we are a "melting pot" we can take the best ideas, etc. from the world. Many countries are fighting century old ideas about class, sex, etc. which hinders their development.
But its O.K. we understand and will continue to guide the rest of the world.

So the Nazis in control of Europe would just be "different"?!?
If Germany had the A-bomb, England and Russia would be gone.
Re: Japan: Didn't they attack first? AND is not the world a better place with the Japan of today?

reaching for a bat, not a yardstick. You would do the same.
