Okay now...End of the World..?
"To speak of 'limits to growth' under a capitalistic market economy is as meaningless as to speak of limits of warfare under a warrior society. The moral pieties, that are voiced today by many well-meaning environmentalists, are as naive as the moral pieties of multinationals are manipulative. Capitalism can no more be 'persuaded' to limit growth than a human being can be 'persuaded' to stop breathing. Attempts to 'green' capitalism, to make it 'ecological', are doomed by the very nature of the system as a system of endless growth." —Murray Bookchin
Okay now...End of the World..?
There was a prophecy, I can't remember who the prophet was, but it was in a book that included Nostradamus and Lady Nadia. It said we will be experiencing fires, floods, earthquakes, and man-made disasters around the time of an Armageddon, or something like that (I read this 6 yrs. ago, or so), and this is sort of what we're going through. Most of the prophecies about the future, say there's life after 'this coming event' (whatever it may be), actually, all, I think. They all said that there would be major catastrophies before this "once in a lifetime, I mean, Universe" event. I'm not too clear on it, but you get my drift, you can look up all the prophecies, I'd like to hear them, again.
My view is that we're at it, and we can, not only make it through it but, make it better. None of the prophecies said it would be a "second-coming" or third, or whatever...
I think the people alive back then are us. I'm starting to believe in re-incarnation.
edit: when I say there was a "prophecy", up top, I mean, this is what "all" the prophecies, about today on, say. Not all. But all three or four that I read.
Okay now...End of the World..?
But you have to remember that there isn't a single time in the history of man when there wasn't fires and floods and earthquakes and other disasters. They're just part of life, and there's no reason to believe the disasters of today are any more meaningful than the disasters that have been occurring for billions of years.
Okay now...End of the World..?
were all gona die!! it will be like the latest episode of south park
Okay now...End of the World..?
JeeZASS!
Oh, really? The Aztecs? THE FUCKING AZTECS? These were people who thought a stomachache was caused by a family of goblins living in your stomache. SO NOW WE TRUST THEM IN KNOWING WHEN THE FUCKING WORLD ENDS!?!
Oh, and the Tsunamis, violence, wildfires, and people dying. Yeah, you see, that stuff has happened before. It'll happen again.
If that stuff means the world's ending, how's this? My kitty just had kittens! They're adorable! I could just play with them all day! And I'm about to get a nice 1/8 of some GOOD shit! And look outside. Do you see the storm that ISN'T happening?
Therefore, the world isn't ending. If bad stuff = end, then good stuff = not end. The equation looks the same as before. There's good shit happening, and there's bad stuff happening.
And hey, it's amazing how much easier breathing is when you PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS!
Oh, and I respect your opinion and all that.
Okay now...End of the World..?
the aztecks where some of the first people to use writen languge, and ritualy used halusagens to speak to spirtual guides. sure there belifes where a little strange, but who's isn't. they belived in the "day of the dead" where all things man made wil rise up against us and kill off man. the taking of the ibognane root, causes a spirtual trip where you see and speak to the spirit of the ibogas, a gholam like creature made of wood that would appear to you and show you the error of your ways. salvia has been known to show you a women "gardening" a healing spirit.
Okay now...End of the World..?

Man, I never really thought about it. But the lady at work got me believing a little bit. We argued for about 2 hours and she proved a bunch of valid points that started to scare the shit out of me.
- The size, strength, and number of hurricanes
-climate change perhapse? I'm no scientist, but even if that's not the cause, remember that we're hearing about all these events more than ever. only recently do we get a national brodcast of every mudslide, flood, drougt, hurricane, plague, and crop circle. regardless, some excessive hurricanes doesn't mean the end of the world.
- The tsunamis
- What was there, like 2? there's a reason we even have the name tsunami, because they've happened before.
- Wildfires
- not uncommon at all.
- The Pope Died
- yeah, they tend to do that.
- Mt. St. Helens is now active
- my memory isn't too fresh in regards to the geological history of the earth, but I think there's been, oh, a couple volcanoes active in the past 6 billion years or so.
- The new "flu" strain that is said to kill millions.
- yep, just like the one that killed millions in the 1930's (perhapse it was 20's), or the black plague that wiped out 1/3 of Europe (I recall everybody was pretty sure that was the apocalypse too), or the massive floods and famines that have killed millions of chinese for the past several thousand years... nuts, I'm pretty sure there was one other historical event involving the death of many people, otherwise the past has been mostly rainbows and fully bunnies.
- The massive earthquakes
yep, historie's had its share of those.
- The violence
all this terrorism and 2 small wars certainly is a lot of violence. certainly, it is unmatched by the crusades, ww2, ww1, chinese cultural revolution, nazi extermination of 11 million civilians, rawanda, 50 million killed/disappeared in soviet russia, multiple warlords in africa, ghengis kahn who conquered more land than anybody in history (all the way over to poland) and slaughtered all in his path on the way, the thousands of years of warring shoguns in japan, the roman/barbarian wars, the massive middle eastern wars to assert dominance in the cradle of civilization (babylon, now iraq), the US civil war, all the other civil wars, the brutal occupation of ireland and scotland by the british, vietnam, korea, russo-japan wars *deep breath*. yep, nothing in history as bad as today.
Okay now...End of the World..?
