Got a New Toy for My Growroom...

Great post GG and good move on the filter. Need to get myself one of those too at some point.
Grow room is around 530 sqft (if I do the maths right ~15sqm) and was thinking of replacing my crappy exhaust fan with a 125mm 250CFM inline fan and a 125mm carbon filter that is around 215CFM though, do you think this is enough and do you think the filter being smaller capacity than the fan would create problems? Ducting will be straight and minimal in length. Fan will be attached to the wall and ducting will be used just to connect the filter to it. I like growing sativas (cause I like smoking em that is :p), ceiling is at 3m (10ft) tall and I usually (at least with the fan I have now) have around 70-75% humidity but good temps. (68-75F tops)

You should consider making the filter 10 - 15% bigger than the fan, not smaller. Why is the rH so high?

I feel like we're high-jacking GG's thread here but anyway and sorry about this bro :(

Actually the fan runs at 2 speeds, lower one being 210cfm, so it's at par with the filter and this lower speed means quiet mode too. And if I have this right the fan is supposed to be able to discharge all air from the room in under 5 mins so 210cfm is already an overkill for my room, or maybe not... Also I thought that 125mm fan should go with a 125mm filter, not to mention that the 150mm one (next bigger one of ~280cfm) is exactly double the price of the 125mm one... From 55euro to 110!!! :wtf: Now regarding hR I'd say there are many factors contributing to those high values.

1. Grow room was newly built and finished a few days before transplant (using bricks and cement and stuff) so it's still not completely dry.
2. Weather's been rainy lately with outside humidity on the 90%s...
3. Passive air intake is minimal.
4. Current exhaust fan is crap...
5. Transplanted directly in big pots so soil stays moist for long periods...

I try to open the door many times a day to let fresh air run through. On rainy days of outside hR of 90-100% this helps drop the room hR to around 50-60% within 5-10mins. It will get better from April on but still... Plants don't seem to care much about it atm but I'm still worried about mould, fungi etc :wtf:

I'm telling ya, post-fan muffler works wonders.

Filter>Fan>Muffler>Ducting is my setup and you can't hear anything. Except the water fountain in the yard! :s4:

I have a DIY muffler at the end of my ducting. Any time you step up the ducting (make it bigger i.e. go from 6" duct to 8" duct) you will reduce the noise considerably. My DIY duct muffler is a rectangular cardboard box. Works a charm.
