I have a "pathetic job", as a telecanvasser for a double glazing company. I'm only on £5 an hour, but commission is UNCAPPED meaning you could earn as much extra as you want if you work for it (£10 PP under 10, £20 PP over 10).
I get to chose every week how many hours I work, nothing is set in stone. I get 4 weeks holiday a year, but can take a day off whenever I need it.
Plus, I work in a room mostly full of FIT girls. Oooo yer.
Above all, I enjoy my job. I wouldn't work there if I didn't.
I drive a Delivery Truck and don't make enough!
Not having any money sux.... I am doing ok now, but in my lifetime, I have had to start from scratch with nothing but the clothes on my back, and my knowledge/skills, no less than 3 times. I have been fortunate enough to never have had to file bankruptcy..... but there was a time when it was real close. There have been times when I had to work as many as 3 jobs just to make ends meet.Quote:

I'm an editorial nature photographer- depends upon the assignment but I generally make between $1,200 to $1,800 per day for shooting time- times were great in the 80's and 90's -work abundant- digital imaging has all but eliminated my profession- anyone with a digital camera and photoshop sell themselves as a photographer today- creativity use to take place in an exposure on film -today take a bad pic and fix it in photoshop- also current federal administration does not support the creative markets- a lot of work when Bill Clinton was president for everyone
Mississippi Steve...I don't think there is anyone in the world who WANTS to get up and go to work. Nobody likes it. I guarantee you won't find anyone that totally loves his/her job. Ideally, everyone would love staying at home and just sitting on their asses. But, work keeps you active and alive...so? I guess it's a forced thing.
If any of you had the choice. You could sit at home and money would be coming to you. Or you had to go and work? My ass would anyone choose work.
Money isn't anything to me but I wouldn't mind being comfortable and better off. As long as the bills are paid, my parents are comfortable and I've got enough money to end the night with a joint....That is true happiness for me.

im a freshman at college studying civil engineering. once i get the degree the sky is the limit. i'll be making 80 grand. YEA BOY!!!
money is a facilitator. it is true it is important but equally true it is not everything. a job can be simply a way to earn money or can be an excuse to do what you love and get paid for it.
i think really you have to question what motivates you, for me it is not material as i have been in abundance of this my whole life, but furfilment. doing something i enjoy and being abe to work in an enviroment that challenges and stimulates me.
i completely disagree with hero. i honestly don't think that if people didnt have to work they wouldn't. this may be true of people who work jobs they hate or because they need the money to survive. but more fool them as there is alot more to working. working is part of the food that nurishes the soul. it helps to give us identity and a social position. it is also a great marker for character and the person you are.
if you sit at home all day smoking and buming of welfare then you are weak. if you are productive and resourceful and craft a live of reward then you are strong. i was going to be a lawyer/barrister and i was doing exceptionally well at it. but my only motivation for it was money. yes i would have been helping and representing people but i found the whole process soulless. so ive gone back to college and will be going back to uni to study computer game animation and programing and whilst the money may not be as lucrative i am so much more happier and my life is so much more richer.
but it is all about your personal worth. some people see and judge people by their money and assests, but not all.
