if you like 'spiritual' books, i would suggest the books from Carlos Castaneda. They describe his apprenticeship with a yaqui indian sorcerer called Don Juan, and the experiences he had with states of nonordinary reality. This books are a MUST have for anybody interested in the nature of reality, perception, etc.
For me, the best one is Journey to Ixtlan, followed by Tales of Power, and then A Separate Reality. There is a lot of other ones, but this are good enough. Im sure you will love them!
PS. Im sure the authors of the Matrix movies did read all the books of Castaneda... there is a LOT of similarities between them... specially concerning the 'unreal' nature of the reality, what is known in a lot of another religions/cultures.
Damn! The book of the dead, dead sea scrolls (anything written on them), The Godfather Returns, The canterbury tales, heart of Darkness, All the things they carried, Requiem for a dream, Blow, The F word, Why I'm not a Christan, The Layer Cake, Everything is Illuminated, The Torah, The tale of Gilgamesh, The Matrix and Philosophy, Bullshit, The Rules of Attraction, Fight Club, Running with Scissors, Faoust, The Inferno, I heard you paint houses, Get Shorty, Scar Face(out of print),Tipping the Velvet(Lesbian Erotica), 1776, 1984, Anything by Orson Wells, damn if I wasn't fucked up id go on. Well happy reading :)
Ohh you like spiritual stuff? I dunno what its called in english, but I think there is an english version. Anyways in french its called l'Alchimiste, it was good, tho I was forced to read it (in one day lol) for school, which made it kinda suck..
Probably youre talking about The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Here in Brasil we have not a good view about him, as he seems (and frequently shows himself like) a charlatan with makes money with self-help books disguised in spirituality. But his books did make a lot of success in another countries, as the people dont know him as we do (as he is brasilian).
Note Im talking only about the character of the author, so i will not flame his books before reading them.
