If I top today, there will be a bunch of new baby clones to deal with, but if I just lst today I can take clones in another few weeks, and would yield twice as many babies, right? Then again, my flower space is limited: I can only flower 8 plants max, and they can't be too wide, so maybe I shouldn't lst everyone.
I have to repot all 27 of these girls today - they are already growing out of their first post clonebox quart pots! This is going to take me forever with my injured finger  oh well, no reward without work:jointsmile:
So I am off to get my hands dirty- will check in later to see what suggestions sound best. Thanks!!!!
Ive been interested in learning the science of the FIM method. The ability to accurately quadruple tops,(up to 8 from what I hear) really turns me on!
The thing that gets me is there seems to be no consistency in multiples, so to be sure you're making the right move, maybe a test or two?
THIS IS ONLY FEEDBACK! YOUR GREEN THUMB WOULD KNOW BETTER THAN MY BURNT THUMB!
PS: Pot luck dinner? You've got my attn.! (3 wonderful components of life!)
Wow Demeter I guess we are a good team. Did you notice any difference in survival rate % between the ones we put in rapidrooters vs. the other plugs? I like those other ones too.
I am a big fan of bending to expose low nodes to light. You end up with PLENTY of new side shoots which eventually become multiple tops.
Plus there's little to no stress on the plant.
FIM I've used in the past but far prefer to only remove a growing tip if it is to be used as a cutting. Otherwise you get set back time-wise.
If you end up with too many clones (stinky rotten salami hint hint!) they are always welcome to come to their family reunion :D Their moms miss them.
BTW that dying Blue Haze has completely pulled out of her rootbound funk.
My suggestions for your next round of flowering:
-Lighter soil, 40-50% perlite with that compost I dropped off
-square 3-gallon pots with EXTRA drain holes drilled in them. I ahve a bunch of extras from my previous operation. Just have to get them out of my friend's storage unit.
-Increase ventilation
You may end up with TOO MUCH BUD!!! lol your green thumb is, well, pretty damn green. You just needed better potting conditions.
sorry Mrs. D, I use box ingredients. I wouldn't know how to scratch built bread. That's my wife's dept. Maybe I'll let her make the next batches from scratch. Hmmm. : )

I guess I have been remiss- no pics very too long! I have been busy growing however:
Here is the current crop of girlies- the flowering girls are a mix of trainwreckx, sagebbx, blue haze, PPP, and matanuska thunderfuck...they went in 12/12 on 8/15, so hopefully they will be harvested by mid Oct. I plan to put three of the other group into flower in about 2 weeks, to stagger things, as these other vegging girls are getting pretty burly! I am running out of room, and could take a zillion clones if I only had a place for them. Yes, I have run amok. I have learned too late that just because you CAN take a clone doesn't mean you SHOULD! :hippy: Yikes!
Here are the little clones, a mix of mystery strains, with some PPP and Sagebbx mixed in....also here is the infamous pregnant O G Kush, and as you can see I am trying to get some clone material from her. I still have a half dozen clones in the dome that may still make it, so I think I need to find a fairy godmother for some of these babies, since my flower room is pretty small.
I also plan to just grow for the next six months, and then lay low for awhile. I really just want to stockpile enough bud so that my hubby and I and our good friends can enjoy the fruits of my labor and not have to worry about supply. I think I know someone who can safeguard my genetics until it is time to grow again, so that makes it easier. I know my girls will be a good home!
Here is also a bouquet of flowers from Demeter's Garden for all my dear friends!
Your flower arranging skill is as good as your growing skill! What a beautiful mix of colors. Thos blood-red dahlias are killa.
Looking very nice...
Sweet.
That Trainwreck sounds fun...I haven't giggled from smoking in years.
After about 5 weeks at 12/12, the trainwreck plant is really starting to stink of sweaty salami! It completely takes over and hides the other plant smells- if anyone asks, I guess I should say I am making sausages?:D
The bad news is one of the MTF flowering girls has spider mites- seemingly overnight! I sprayed her with NEEM last night until she dripped, and I plan to check on her tonight when the lights come back on- I sure hope she didn't burn up! She already has some nice buds, but will they be okay now that I have sprayed her? Should I rinse her off with the hose? Anyone with info on spider mites? Damn bugs!
Demeter darlin'-
You got any more TW cuts? I lost mine (The Tess was feeling a little vegetarian...)
Spider mites, drop temps, pyrethrin bomb twice, a couple days apart, hang no pest strips to prevent reinfestation.
Watch out spraying neem to runoff, it's easy to suffocate the plant. Light mist, dry, light mist again is far safer.
Hi stinky- I've missed ya!
I do have some tw clones - when will you be mobile again? Remember to keep Oct 20 open for the Halloween bash-
Okay so of course, like everything else I do to excess- I probably drowned the poor baby last night. I wasn't thinking too straight :stoned: and at the sight of all those webs I panicked!
So if the poor baby is suffering, should I take her out and hose her off? I'm such a roughneck
help..
Once the neem dries it's not gonna come off- if it was going to kill the leaves, you'd already be seeing damage.
Halloween, check. I have a costume already too. You will dig it.
I couldn't stand to wait (big surprize!!) so I just peeked in on the girl and she seems okay. Will it be okay to smoke with neem on the buds? Will it taste weird? I might have to lick a leaf and see:D
Actually that plant and another one have some funny leaves, that look like they are gold-dusted but is probably just mottled green w/gold - since I have your expert ear here- what do you think this is? I have been feeding once per week with Tiger Bloom, Big Bloom, and cal/mag. though I may have forgotten cal/mag one week. What do you think- oh yea, and I also gave them molassas the last two weeks. I need to get that Sweet stuff you mentioned. Also I need some good starter plugs like you used- they had a much better clone survival rate than mine. Can you tell me what they are and where to get them? I want to take a few clones of the blue haze and also that crazy pregnant kush you gave me- she's been held down and I bet I could get 5 clones from her.
Sounds like it is time for another clone party girl! I also have some big veg ladies (PPP and MTF) I wouldn't mind trading for some other varieties if you have any extra little ones?
What you are seeing is scarring from spider mite damage.
I still hold your Haze genetics if you are interested in some cuts. Ready to go girly! And others of course.
You probably don't need the calmag in your city tap water.
Neem isn't poisonous to humans, just smelly. Yuck.
Yeah I need a re-up on PPP stock- I think you gave me a SAGE x mislabelled last time. The leaf structure was all wrong.
Call me whenever! :D
I thought we weren't allowed to even discuss trading beans, let alone clones, on this site? No?
Grow
That is true- However Demeter and I have been friends in 'real life' for a while and have a long-standing agreement to protect each others genetics in case one of us has to bail out suddenly. We're Grow Buddies! :DQuote:

I'm sorry- I didn't mean to cross over onto the dark side:(
Stinky is my good pal, and grow guru:thumbsup: No offence meant!
I'll call you tonight. Now I have to go expand a bed in the front yard for some new asters I am putting in. I need to move my Phlox and crazy daisy back so the asters can be in front. I've had trouble with iron chlorosis this year, so by putting the asters in front it will help if that happens again. I am going to supplement well in the spring so hope it won't come back; it's so disfiguring! But it is a great day to be outside (I'll grade papers tomorrow!)
Remind me to give you some Iron Green- I have an industrial sized bottle that I will NEVER use up!!!
Hey you two... It's all good! I'm just asking what is and isn't ok to be posting here... I've seen several allusions by Stinky, with her mod hat on, to the fact that it is not permissible to post anything about any kind of trading. So I was just trying to figure out if there is some voodoo magic that makes it ok
Stinky -- found that pic in the grow lounge ... cute :)
Grow
EDIT: Oh yeah, sorry for bustin' in on your conversation.
lol no probs- I've gotta say that having a grow buddy makes me sleep better at night knowing that no matter what happens, I'll never lose my genetics.
Certainly trolling for seeds and clones isn't cool on the site. Do long-standing members who have formed personal relationships with each other do it? Sure. But it's by email and off-site. I suppose just to avoid any confusion we should probably do that too, lol. Or next time we have lunch! :D
Hi Girlfriend- seems like forever since I posted from the Garden of Delight> Frankly it has become more of a Jungle of Wildness- Since I plan to shut down everything in January, in anticipation of our adoption, I am growing to STOCKPILE, baby!
I've exceeded the maximum sensible number of plants in my flower room by about a dozen! I chopped the tops off a couple fat juicy MTF's last night because they had nanners and were mostly ready- I like a lighter head high anyway. It must be the general overcrowding - I have too many crazy sativa girls standing tall at one end, and the final flowering PPP and MTF are crouched in the front. I still have a half dozen girls, mostly trainwreck, who are ALMOST too big to transport so soon I will have to shove them into flower with the other sardines...! I hope to harvest the bottoms of the MTF I just chopped in about a week, and hopefully the 2 PPP's will be done then too, making room for a few more to flower.
This is what happens when you combine cloning with having to temporarily suspend growing :wtf:
But despite the nanners on the two MTF, and a couple trainwreck that need flushing (jeez, they are in the very back, so I will have to excavate tonight!) the plants are surviving the tight space pretty well. I have bent over a few of the lankier girls - I will take some photos tonight if you upstanding growers promise not to chatise me for my bad behavior. This is not the ideal grow, but the buds look yummy and this little squirrel will be needing plenty of "nuts" to keep her happy over the winter. I may keep one mother to maintain - but it is so hard to choose! I still have some great seeds, so maybe, since I will have plenty of smoke to tide me over, I can afford to wait and see with a few germinating seeds- if they turn out to be male, it won't be tragic. But the growing will have to really get scaled down next year- Demeter will still be growing, but more veggies and flowers to cover. I need to focus on my little persephone:D
Once the nightime lights come on in the flower room, I'll shoot some pics and be right back!:hippy:
Here are a few pictures- first the ladies in veg waiting (after taking this picture I repotted half of them before I ran out of pots and dirt! The other pictures are of the insanely crowded flower room, which I also reorganized because I had to take two PPP out from the back to be flushed, etc. The spiky tall one with the weirdly skinny leaves is a sagexx, very tempermental! I can't remember what the problem is when the leaves get all skinny and curl like this one is?
In a week I will chop three more little PPP's - and replace them with a blue haze, another PPP and a trainwreck or two. I had planned to be done by early Jan but now it is looking like mid to late January before Demeter turns her garden back to veggies. I want to flower some tomatoes and peppers like last winter, and maybe some japanese eggplant.
Looks like it could have done with a bit longer, but thats just my opinion..none the less, good grow:thumbsup:
whatcha mean smokie? Do you mean I should wait on the PPP's - how can you see them in the midst of all that green- good eyesight! or do you mean i should have waited on chopPing the MTF? The top trics were mostly cloudy, though there were some new white hairs- still, I needed the room, and those nanners scared me!
Most of what is in the pics won't be ready for at least 4 more weeks, with the rest following in 6, 8 and 10 weeks if all goes as planned. he Blue haze and that damned sagex take the longest, but at least in the case of the blue, it's worth it. I'm only growing the sagex out because I didn't have the heart to toss her once I learned what a fussy plant it is
Hey Demeter!
Sorry I've been away from the boards for a couple days and missed all this.
Chopping a hermed plant IS good practice, especially if you have NO idea why it hermed.
I'll call you tonight... I'm mobile again... mwahahaha... look out Massholes, Stink's BACK ON WHEELS!!!
So glad you are back on wheels! I've missed my garden guru- you must come visit - I have two mtfs that look like hanging baskets with several trailing arms! Any chance you will be heading east this weekend? We did a final harvest and have about 20 million peppers! I made some yummy salsa verde out of the tomatillos and I know you want some of that! I roasted the toms this time and it really makes a difference. We had it will grilled chicken and it was amazing!
It's always good to see growers growing a cornucopia of plants. I do the same, and I love it. It brings a certain well-rounded quality to the garden which I find is good for one's spiritual well being.
I'm still working through my last pint of tomatillo salsa from Demeter's garden!
My grow at the moment also includes French lavender, rosemary, and 4 varieties of hot pepper. Variety is indeed the SPICE of life, har har har. :D
Hey stinky- I forgot to ask you- what can you tell me, if anything, about the girl marked "Mystery xx"? I just cut her and she smells amazing!
Did you get the doggie? I hope so!:)
mystery 'XX' is what I did with a handsome male I got out of a pack of BOG unknown seeds. I crossed him to a female from the same pack. BOG's stuff is hardy and smells lovely, and the XX follows. I found she did very nicely in hydro as a bud on a stick style plant.
Yup, the shelter called and they put me at the top of the list for the bulldog female, but they would rather I take the male Boxer/Pitbull cross because they can't find an applicant who is familiar with training big dominant dogs, and the bully girl is already a perfect lady.
them orchids r tuff:D
nice shoes' plants not to bad either:D
Thanks theelectrician!
Demeter's Garden of Delight is changing a bit these days- all of my medicinal plants are now cut, cured and stored away for personal use over the next year or two. I am about to become the parent of a little 7 year old girl from Africa, so it will be just organic veggies and flowers for awhile :)
I have so appreciated everyone's advice (esp. my dear friend stinkyattic!) over the past year that I have been growing - because of all of your help, I am now able to use my medicine in peace, without the constant scramble and uncertainty of contacting dealers- not to mention the $$$- now I can spend my hard-earned money on little girl dresses :D
I have a new orchid blooming now- will take a pic once she is fully open! I will be starting my veggie seeds the week before we leave for Africa in mid-MArch, so that when we return they will be ready to pot up! I have some beautiful new heirloom tomato seeds this year that I am excited about-
