Again another Light Question.

My grow is also in it's 7th week of flowering. Some plants are still producing buds and pistils and a couple look very done, with all red hairs. Trics seem the same on all the plants though. Last I checked they were mostly clear. I check again maybe today or tomorrow. I have been flushing for a couple of weeks but the flowers that are still producing don't seem to notice any deficiency in the nutes.
Bree, your buds are looking lovely but I think that they may have a couple of weeks still the way they are growing and the all white hairs and dark green leaves. Check the trycs all over your plants, top and bottom.

Thanks for coming in again Shov...and for your thoughts. I am thinking the same thing- about a few weeks to go....Isabella does infact have more straggly brown hairs....I was just cking the trichs from tops, thanks for that too....I was thinking of doing a gradual harvest since the under the canopy the hairs on cee-cee are quite white.

I looked at your log, and yours are looking much better than mine, lol!

Do you think that putting under this HPS will speed it up? I think the combo of overfert and CFL's is making them take longer...

And I have the tops about two feet from the light right now (first day), when do you think that I could move it closer? I was under 19,000 lu before (again floros, so I don't know how much they were getting really), now I'd imagine I've got around 50,000lu.

Just one day shy of 8 weeks flowering, Isabella is now hanging and drying. When I ckd trichs today, at least 20% was amber and some were also bent over like little old ladies....so!

Some of these buds are so pitiful. However, I think the plant, put in the proper perspective of course, did really well! I never really decided to plant her....and I'm sure whoever did would be surprised to see what that seed grew into! Enjoy the photos, and I'll post weight once dried. Isabella came in at 43g. [attachment=o121629] I was hasty in the manicuring, which I won't do again, but I'm happy. She had infact hermied[attachment=o121631], I found about 10 seeds..most of them being underdeveloped. I think that is maybe why she started showing advanced staged trichs so fast (I read on here that when the female is fertilized, she stops making resin and the THC begins degrading rapidly). I wish I would have stopped feeding her earlier...the buds are pretty green (not as green as some of the pics, bad lighting in kitch), BUT meh, the smoke is good. I'll update Cee-cee in two days, she has had a lot of leaf loss, but her trichs have stayed the same so far....I'm trying to erradicate any light leaks in lieu of this fact. B

lol. I know you fine people are reading, even if you are not commenting! Well, here is what is going on today...I haven't found any more ambers on cc...I doubt it's even five percent like I stated earlier...sigh. I decided yesterday that she's gotta be done in the next week to ten days, so I gave her a major flush. Isabella is too green and I don't ever want to make that mistake again. I think I can taste chemicals, but that may be due to the fact that she is not cured. Despite of this, I keep happily tokin' on her.......BIG NEWS! I have the whole 800w running now, although the temps are higher than I'd like (81.5)and it is so NOT stealth that it's ridiculous. I haven't attempted to close the door. I got a new tower fan and that helped a lot. I did build the table for the room, but I have to paint it and I think I'm going to drill holes in it so that air can move around in there...you'll just have to see once I have it installed. I'm going to paint hopefully this weekend. I also have to tack some kind of covering over the door, for someday, God willing, I will be able to close that door (I don't want people walking by the door and able to see the light through the cracks). I keep kicking around the idea of getting the 172 CFM vortex 4in to vent the hood. I don't know if this is overkill. I don't know if I am going to make a scrubber that is with the air cooling vent...I also would like whatever I use to be kinda quiet. Here is something comical- I went to get my glass cut for my hood, and my stoner self forgot the measurements! This makes it mandatory to measure twice and cut once! Just so you know, that wasn't the only reason I went to the store.

All in all, I think CC seems to keep packing on weight, I'm secretly hoping she'll add even more trichs now that I have the MH running too, not that they'd be all that mature, but I'd like to see the MH addition and if it gives results this late in the game....Jeez, I feel chatty today, thanks for reading...Enjoy the photos! I don't think mine are going to be monsters. I'll be surprised if I pull a solid ounce off this first grow. Next grow will be better. I'll be in my new house, and have more room and time to devote.

I just finished toking the last of one of my girls today as well ... she'd been curing for weeks now and it was definitely the tastiest nug I smoked of her... before she was a bit harsh and we flushed her for 2 weeks. She dried quickly though, she was fairly green.

I guess I'm feeling pretty chatty today as well. :) I'm looking forward to seeing CC harvested. -c :jointsmile:

I know you guys and gals were hoping for harvest pics BUUUUUUUUUUUT, CC still isn't done, she is a hermie,...plus that day I had the MH she got radiant heat burn....the story just keeps getting better huh? Every sample had at least one red trich...should I water her again or keep her thirsty? Please someone reply because I have to melt snow right now to water her, lol. I'm not going to town for a few days.

The glass still got measured wrong and I cracked it trying to install it, so I have to buy another one, HA. Like I said it was a bad week for this project....

Going to be busy painting today.

Yah, the dirt was 'slightly' moist (I ckd after your last post) so I think she looks thirsty cause of the radiant heat burn she had and from major leaf loss...could be why she taking so long too, eh? I'll ck her trich again when the lights come on, if STILL not done I'll trudge out and collect snow. Again, I do appreciate when someone answers my q's! I hate making decisions by myself....lol..sometimes.

I chopped CC tonight, and although I did not 'find' seeds as of yet I think it will still be decent without too many. Again fingers crossed. Isabella, so far I've found about five seeds...A little better than okay smoke. Didn't even know what was planted on that one....

Pezzo, yes you are right, but more inexperienced made the way for me. I did a lot of dumb newbie mistakes and prob. hermie'd it from that. Trichs were pretty close to 10 percent (a little early but given how long in flower, maybe she is one that her harvest window does not go all on trichs, or that I messed her up-more likely! lol)...so I turned the lights off and harvested eight hours later. I have not trimmed yet. It looks like a very small amout in these pics, BUT I am still hoping to double the weight of Isabella...we'll see!

For all those people like me and new, trichs seems to ripen fast once started....I believe Dutch Pimp said sometimes within a few hours they can change...

That was the plan....however I turned around to load the pics on the pc and when I went back the person helping me chop stripped her. He didn't know of my plan obviously....there's always next time. If it were summer I'd set her ouside and she'd probably still grow*, but since I'm setting up a new area, I'm not going to bother. sigh.

*I grow spider flowers, or Cleome hasslerana, which are related to and grow very much like cannabis...you CAN strip them down to just a stump and they will grow again.

There seem to be different mentalities on the subject. Here on c.com people are very adamant about not re-vegging plants and things like that, but on icmag there are people flowering girls for the 2nd or even 3rd time, re-vegging for clones and all sorts of things. There certainly are risks involved (hermies and what not) but there's no question it can be done. It might not be best practice, but shit who cares it's all in good fun. :jointsmile:

shame, i know some plants can root and take a foothold with just the leaves and some can generate leaves from just the roots... Does cannabis need both roots and leaves to get it started? then again clones are just leaves so i suppose my question is can u grow it from the root ball?

Hey, Bree. I haven't stopped by in a while. Just thought I'd drop a line. I HAVE been watching, though. It's quite a bummer about the issues you've had recently, but like you said, it's good stuff to learn by, and you didn't RUIN anything. Still got some delicious bud.

Let me know what it smells like when you are curing it. I've got a suspicion that hermie bud smells much different than non-hermie bud during the curing stage. Let me know. :D

That's a COOL little dry box you got there. I like the set up. I'm sure you are turning the buds so they don't always stay on one side, right? :D Maybe try running some string across the box in lines about 1/2 way up and laying the buds on there so you don't have to go back and turn them so often. That fan is blowing OUT of the box, right? :)

Regarding the reveg, it's like ~canuck~ said, it' s not a favored practice, at least not on this site, but it can be done, and if it is a very stable strain that is not prone to hermie-ism, then, it can work just fine.

What's next on the agenda? You said something about doing a bit larger grow this time so you can get a good amount of bud and then 'pack it in for a while,' right? What ya gonna grow? Are you going to change your setup?

Hey fog! I think you are right about the smell....but I have no base to compare it to. Both my plants hermied, and the smell was kinda sickly sweet-not good. Almost like alfalfa, if you are familiar with that smell, best desciption I can think of. I swear that I could smell it weeks ago (but didn't think much of it at the time), probably when the jizz got out, lol.

About my nice little box (been awhile since someone commented on my 'box', teehee)...No I haven't been turning them, believe it or not, there is fishing line already in there halfway up. [attachment=o124235] It is invisible line...I like to fish, so I already had it laying around. It's a little slack, but I have time to work on it. Yes, the fan is blowing out!

In concern about revegging...since both my plants hermied (I keep bringing up that fact, I know) I'm not real worried about it. I just haven't thrown them out because they are good little indicators while I'm setting up the new room...

As for the new set up, I've included some pics of it, although hard to do cuz it's such a tight space....I've been sweaty all weekend fiddling with this....[attachment=o124236]

Fog and everyone look at the pics, and tell me how you'd set up the venting and scrubber (I'll have a 465CFM Vortex fan for extraction/cooling/scrubber) [attachment=o124227] As you can see I don't have a surplus of room. I want to make a DIY scrubber...should I make Bodom's and put it at the end of the tube in the attic? Or should I try to contain it before the fan? Remember this fan is supposed to be cooling the room and making it smell decent...lol. I'm also planning on installing a dimmer switch where the light switch is since it is tied into the fan.


I don't think I'll have good seeds for the grow, I'll have to make do with with bagseed. So I'm probably asking for hermies but, I don't have a safe addy....and I think it would be a red flag setting up PO box...

The fan: it comes with brackets that should make it easier to mount . Fabulous idea!!

The Pic: I know others have run into this. Its an intermittent problem. I remember stinky couldnt post at one point, but then it was fixed. Maybe try loggin in then out and maybe closing you browser completley and then reopening.

So put the fan up there in the ceiling, huh? should I put the scrubber in the attic or should try to contain it in the duct? Does that make sense?

Oh, I thought it was obvious....I was going run duct from the light to the fan.... But maybe that won't work because of space? Or would it collapse the hose? Light>duct>scrubber contained in duct>fan mounted on ceiling to attic

maybe just hang the fan at the ceiling and then throw the scrubber in the attic. LoL, i hasven't smoked yet and this coffee aint workin!!!

Damn, Bree...my fast little fingers got ahead of me. I typed this whole 2 or 3 paragraphs on my opinon about your fan placement, then deleted it...(sigh) Luckily, I like you so I'll type it again. (double sigh) ;) :D


Ok, well, mainly, I said that your room looks a bit small for the hood AND the tube coming out the side. I hope you can squeeze that tube out of the hood and up without kinking it.

Pushing thru the filter or pulling thru is debatable. I would prefer to pull thru...but that's just me.

If you have room above your light, I'd run the tube thru the filter then to the fan, which would be in the attic to reduce noise and heat. If it was up there, you could build a box around it, lined with egg cartons to dampen noise as well. Keep in mind the space above the light and leave room to raise it when they flower. :)

Not sure what else I said...but here's my idea. OH, I said IMO, setting up fans/exhaust/ventilation is the hardest thing of setting up your grow area. If you have THAT in check, and good genetics, it's hard to f**k up the rest. ;)

Thanks Fog, I like your idea. I think I'll use a 90 degree ridgid elbow directly facing the fan. This is the only way I can think of to fit everything. I guess if it doesn't work (which I think it will since I still only have but a few feet of duct that I'll be working with) I can always try something else....

I really liked the idea of putting the fan right in the attic with a box, that'll help sound. Which is pretty important since my house is teeny tiny.

crumb I always forget something...I had my first sample of CC (small airy buds that fell off during harvest)...Pretty dayum good...probably partially cause I've been smoking the same stuff for about three weeks, but Still good and Long Lasting. Sounds like a cigarette or beer commercial, lol.

Well it's time to bring this misnamed log to a close. Final weight was almost exactly the same as Isabella's. [attachment=o125087] Sigh. No the scale aint broke, the farmer must be, lol.
