looks like a nice plant m8, so when does it start flowering? one of my girls is getting quite frosty, they really stink now - its like rotting fruit X bad breath :) the other two have stopped stretching, they are a good few inches shorter than the others - should get some nice fat kholas instead of bud sticks of them :D

good work m8. i'm drying a little bud out at the mo, it's only a bottom one but it has lots of trichs on and i'm getting twitchy looking at those buds all day long - LOL. I normally last 6 weeks before temptation gets a hold - i hope its a lame smoke :D

i rolled a j up wiv about 50% bud and it was goooood - nice head buzz, v smiley :jointsmile: that plant is gonna kick ass when it's mature :D. glad i got a couple of clones of it. I'll take a couple more buds for new years eve and then leave it alone (LOL), its gone dry again 'round here, i'll be well glad when i'm self sufficient.

the holidays are over and my new year's resolution is to stop picking at the buds :D I had a nice smoke y'day - got about an eighth dried from a couple of branches - that would have probably been a nice 1/2 oz if i left em alone - LOL.
had a look at the trichs thru the scope today - all clear (surprise surprise) with just the odd cloudy here and there. you can see how much shorter the 3 week plants are after the stretch in the second pic.
I reckon 4 weeks to go for the first two. :)
Happy new year to you too m8 :jointsmile: ya, man....it's been really warm this summer....only 10-15 min. out in the sun with no shirt = a nice sunburn :mad: which is annoying coz I like to wear as little as possible & I have to be out there to tend the nursery etc. :D hehe, I know, it's hard to resist picking some fresh buds when they are right there in front of you & you don't wanna have to pay for weed :weedpoke: ya, definitely a lot of stretch, it's very similar to the way WW grows....yours are starting to fill out v. nicely dude :greenthumb: obviously they would be a lot bigger if you had more light power....ever thought of getting a lil' 250w HPS or similar just for the flower cycle ???? more light at this stage will really bulk them up & improve your overall yield significantly :greenthumb: have you tried taking a pic of the trichs thru yer scope ??? I seen some here somewhere, they looked pretty good....my bitch is growin hard, most of the lower branches have reached the outside edge of the pot & are nearly ready for some bondage....I'll let them go for another day or so then start tying them down :weedpoke: I'll pick up an exhaust fan for the closet this week sometime & get it cooking....I can't get hold of a cutting just yet :mad: so I'll put the smaller WS in there with 1 of the PP....hopefully they'll both be ladies :cool:

i am hoping t'get a 400w hps in the future. my two CFLs kick out more lumens than a 250 HPS, the problem is penetration (f'nar f'nar), any bud more than 10" away is gonna yield shit - that's why I want to get the SOG dialed in (it also gives me a good excuse to smoke buds "oh dear, that's too far from the light - chop chop!") :D
i'm gonna pot up some of the clones today - i've got my future mothers sorted out, 2 from the vigorous plant and one each from the others (5 total). that leaves me with nine clones to go into the flower cab when the first two plants are done. I'll clone some more off my 1 remaining veg plant when the last two are nearly done and try an 18 plant SOG. :)
Growing will become a pleasure when I have half-a-pound tucked away :stoned:- at the mo I find it very frustrating waiting, it's like watching paint dry, or a kettle boil. :mad:. I'll see if i can get some pics through the scope - it's only a phone cam so don't hold your breath.
ahhhh...kk....a 400 will liven them up....that with the cfl's ?? or u gonna use them 4 veg ?? dinnae worry if u dont get any good trich shots man....is kool....finally got an exhaust fan 4 ma closet 2day :greenthumb: just gotta get it in, dig out a timer & check for light leaks....i also got a wee oscillating fan that will fit in there nicely :jointsmile: the biggest of the 3 seedlings will prolly go in there with 1 of the PP :D In the next day or so I'll start to lst the big bitch....most of the branches have got alternating nodes now....a few leaves are a bit funny looking but I reckon that is from the N in the big dose of Dynamic Lifter she got last week....she'll grow thru it soon....starting to get thirsty too....I'll have to start checking water PH and adjusting....did I mention I only use rain water ?? don't think I did....it's soooo much better for all plants than tap mains shite....makes them look more vibrant & healthy & grow like a muthafukka :greenthumb: I'll post some before & after pics when I tie her down ;)

managed to get a trich shot - v narrow field of view though. i got some higher P food for em, they seem to like it. will start giving some carb boost next feed. i left a mother to get some bigger root before potting up (i watered that droopy clone btw :) )
well done m8, the trich shot is pretty good....can see them no probs....I forgot to mention some measurements.....the overall height b4 TED was about 85cm. (33 1/2").....top 2 branches were 60cm. (24") long....:greenthumb:....had an interesting chat with ma neighbour over the back fence yesterday....turns out he has got a grow room in his shed that is not being used atm....he just needs some cuttings to get started again....hehe....you can probably guess where the conversation went after he told me that....

that's jammy slayer - my neighbour's would be calling the police if they knew I had a grow. have you any idea what sort of yield your going to get from her? i think my later flowering plants will be yielding more than the first two, the buds are much tighter together after the stretch, may get 2-3oz from each.
getting back to your other posts (I been job hunting last few days so a bit busy :) ) 400w HPS - when I built my cab I did intend to get one but funds were low and I wanted to start asap. I don't think I could use a 400 with my CFLs unless I get bigger cab. also all that messing about with fans, scrubbers etc. goes against my 'keep it simple' ethos. :) post some more pics of your cab when you do some work, it might inspire me :D
i use tap water, its pH 7.2 and after adding my ferts it usually goes down to about 6.7. the soil readings are ~ 6.5 - 6.8, if it gets to high I add half a cup of flat coke to the water :D it's good for flowering (phosporic acid) plus the soil gets some sugary goodness - lol.
anyways, I gotta start work next week, what a bummer when only a few weeks away from harvest ;) I might have to throw an early sickie when my buds are ripe. :D

good call with the lighting....1 of the 1st. gardening rules of thumb, as it were, keep it simple....my cab is nearly done, just gotta work on getting good airflow thru it without major surgery to the closet....I'm gonna drill lotsa wee holes in the bottom floor so it can draw fresh air from underneath & see how that works....I should get in there today actually....
nice work with the coke....good idea man....similar to adding molasses, which I'm gonna try soon....apparently you can make a foliar spray with it as well :greenthumb:

aye, a big bush m8! i had to wait for lights on and now have to rush out. pics are blurry, will do some bud shots later. the trichs are starting to get cloudy and about 20% hairs orange, still new pistles emerging. 3 weeks to go. this will be the last week of feeding i think.

hi m8 - i hate work :) I've had to do some serious 'pruning' on my lower branches :D oh well.
My other two are going really well, I think i may have been underdoing the feeding with the first two though. I might do a partial harvest on one at the weekend, i know its early but I aint buying any more off the street and my puff is better. I don't think I'll need any help with the harvest - i wish i did cos that means i would have pounds and pounds :D
Anyway, lunch break over, back to work - oh how i hate it :D

#1 these weighs about 10 grams each....#2 the good stuff :greenthumb: #3 cab open, light on :smokin: #4 top section w/ ballast, fan, etc....needs to be ventilated some more yet....#5 cab shut, eventually I'll get a piece of ply the size of the front section & fix it like a big door, that way I can mk a vent down low that wont let light in or out & can mk it semi-lockable...LOL :D

yo...I tied down the WS ova @ the in-laws t'other day....when I bent over the top 2 to see how they would go, the main stem split....oops....a bit of electrical tape & she'll be right m8 :greenthumb: it still hasn't shown sex proper either....only a couple of small pre-flowers here & there that look girly ;) pics....#1 the WS b4.... #2 is after....#3 is a mongrel bagseed sativa the m.i.l. has got there, it was started way too early & flowered....now it's re-veging....topped way too late as well....it's over 4 feet tall....dodgy tie job as well....:stoned: have fun at work dude :D :stoned:

i potted up me clones in coke bottles, i got some panda plastic to cover them in but can't be arsed at the mo. :) - made some holes with a soldering iron and put some perlite in the bottom. i don't need much dirt for em as they go into flower when the first two are finished.
I might scrog that big vegging plant after taking a few clones first. it's making it akward keeping the other plants near the light.
how hot does it get in your cab with the light on? i got an interview for another job tomorrow :D

wow dude...they are getting very frosty....good idea with the coke bottles, u can pack a lot of 'em together in a small space & still get good root space :greenthumb: the big veg. plant of yours looks like a huge bonsai....it should throw a lot of buds....not sure exactly how hot the cab gets....no thermometer atm & not left the light on long enough to get really hot in there...another thing on the list....:stoned: :D I just read that low-powered crops can take approx. 20% longer to flower....so,the max flowering days for the WS is 50 days, or so it says on the packet, + 20% (10 days) = 60 days....about what you thought it might be....I'd be taking closer inspections with intent to harvest from about day 58 or so....have you stopped feeding them & started flushing ?? at about this stage is when I usually pierce the stems to really get the resin flowing....& a bit of sugar in the water to make the buds heavier & to sweeten them :greenthumb: ....here's some more pics....:D the top row of branches is filling out....:greenthumb:....look what I found at the bottom of the pot....

yah the 'bonsai' has been topped a couple of times, it's well bushy :) i'm gonna make a frame to scrog it. it's gotta about 4-5 weeks more vegging before there's room in the flower cab though. it'll be interesting comparing yields from sog, scrog and lst.

the piercing trick I got from an old book that I have called 'Marijuana Potency' by Michael Starks (And/Or Press:1977)....here is some quotes from it....
"Splitting the base is another practice believed to increase potency. In India, farmers reportedly twist the base of the stem or the flowering tops sometime before harvest. In Mysore, they twist the stem of the 2 month-old plant, then bend it horizontally & sometimes tie it in that position to encourage side branches. Still another custom, reportedly practised by the Burmese, is to split the stem about a month before maturity & insert a piece of wood, then gather together the tops & push them into a basket. (!)
In Mexico, farmers insert slivers of acote, (a type of pine) through the root of the plant below ground level when the plant is about 4 feet high. They claim that this prevents the formation of seeds & gives the MJ a piney flavor, both highly unlikely.
The Tepehua of Oaxaca, Mexico produce extremely potent MJ by growing the plants in a hostile environment & by severe pruning. They pinch off the tips from young seedlings, thus removing the apical meristem with it's high concentration of auxins. This leads to the production of many lateral meristems. The new lateral meristems are pruned once a week to produce a small, urn-shaped bush. Shoots that would ordinarily fill the interior of this "urn" are also removed. The exterior looks almost crystalline due to the heavy resin accumulation, & many plants develop a red pigmentation (cyanins). The leaves change from the ordinary palmate shape to verticillate or whorled (like the spokes of a wheel) balls of entire (smooth-edged) leaves & abortive (incomplete or immature) flowers. When the blood-like colour begins to appear, 2 wooden splinters are inserted through the stem just above the ground at right angles to each other. At present there is no evidence that this latter practice has any effect on potency, but it is interesting to note that the stems are similarly bruised or impaled by various Asian MJ farmers.
To sum up, though many peoples around the world prune MJ plants, or split their stems, there is no scientific proof that these practices increase potency. However, any kind of stress tends to increase potency somewhat, though usually at the cost of decreasing the total yield. "
There is another passage somewhere in the book, I'll find it & post it later. I usually pierce about 2 weeks or so b4 harvest....I tried to take some higher-res. pics of old plants with piercings....you can see the stake anyways.... I am a definite believer in this technique m8, after it's done you can almost see the resin increasing :greenthumb: I use a pocket knife to stab the stem, give it a good wriggle to make some room in the wound & then literally hammer the stake thru....sounds brutal & looks fatal but it won't kill them :weedpoke: They all finish normally, the buds keep filling out....just got lots more resin all over the plant :greenthumb:

nice work m8 - i'll give that a go on one of my second two ladies so I can compare them. I was gonna chop one next weekend cos i got a friend visiting who likes a puff. I've only been taking buds off of one plant so that'll be chopped and i'll leave the other until i see 30-40% amber.
:D Ya m8, that's the go....on all points....LOL :stoned: I have gifted 2 plants to a good m8....1 of the WS sprouts & 1 of the PP....I had to drive for an hour or so thru the Hills to take them to my m8's place, at the moment it's crawling with cops looking for an arsonist lighting bush fires :eek: so, it was an interesting drive....only 1 slight heart attack when a bike cop walked out to the road in front of me in some small town up there....anyways, total number here now is 7 plants, 4 PP & 3 WS....here in S.A. you can have up to, erm, it was 5 , now I think it's 3 or 4 , outside plants & just get an on the spot fine with no conviction if busted, any more than that & it's called 'a commercial quantity' & ya gotta explain to the judge....indoor hydro is different now coz they know that big hydro crops are commercial & they have tried to crack down on it....LOL....the indoor hydro industry down here is fookin' huge m8....most of it goes interstate, all over the country, prolly even cold ol' Tassie :D ....there's not many places in the world where you can get a oz. of primo indoor hydro weed for $200 AUD....there is just soooo much weed grown down here m8, I reckon that at least 1 house in 5 has a grow room....lots of syndicates just set up whole houses (rented) full of weed....see them regular on the telly news....also see on telly lotsa fires caused by grow rooms....1 dude up in the Hills region fried himself in a grow room last year....silly prick....Quote:

the branches are about 18" long on the first two and 14" on the second. i expect more from the second 2 cos there's a lot more bud closer to the light. still only see cloudy and clear trichs at the mo...

I found a wire basket which i chopped up to make a scrog screen :D gonna take some more clones in a week or two.

Yo m8 :jointsmile: I took 9 cuttings t'other day....had to rig a dodgy box for them temporarily :D 8 are in blocks, the other is in my seedling mix (I didn't have any perlite/vermiculite on hand....she'll be rite m8 :greenthumb: ) the blocks/medium was soaked with Dutch Master APS clone food before cuttings were taken. the box is the type used to transport live fish, my heat pad fits in there nice :thumbsup: after the pics were taken,I put some cling wrap over the top, put the light on that, then a piece of panda over the top....lol....:D
