No I never flower with T5s. I have seen it done with good results. But HPS will always blow it away in budding if you can control the environment. The reason I see good results when budding with T5s is the environment is just so much easier to control, in regards to heat, etc.Quote:

Passthatshit, i know that you did not take offense when you read the post. Therefore i know you are not jealous. However, Tico always come back strong and on top. If he is a saleman, he sold me. It is possible that he could have some benefits in the sales of T5 lights but if he's got a good product that works I want it.
This is the first thread that i've read all the way through with over 100 post, because it is so interesting with you all.
You are keeping it fun
Thanks for the entertainment and knowledge.
Tico show some more pics
Fair enough
If you read the entire thread then you know I never said that Tico doesn't have a good product. Just because someone is motivated to push a product doesn't make it a bad product. :pimp:
What I questioned wasn't the product, but rather his motivation. But since the grow gods appeared to him in a dream, he's on a mission.
Well just for the record...im no salesman!! je je je je im glad we have made this thread entertaining and educational at the same time...my sister in law has my camera...I will post some pics tomorrow when i get it back!!
.
Interesting stuff...post some new pics!!!
.

do you think your getting these great results becasue your combining aeroponics and these lights that your using or no. I have been researching aeroponics but seems a bit difficult for a bigginer like myself do you know any links or posts of aero systems that are fairly easy to build all i see is room full systems im only trying to grow about 6 plants in an apartment so im trying to build something small did you buy your setup or did you build it yourself?? I was planning something with very little to no oder i was told northern lights is the way to go do you think northern lights x big bud will smell alot or will it be easy to cover up with out carbon filter again im just trying to have a closet grow like yourself just about the same dimensions.
rustafa
I think that the grow system can vary in the setup...I personally think the results come from the fluoralicious plus and the light and lots of TLC...Talking to your plants is one of the best things you can do...
I bought my system second hand from a friend who bought it on the net. I paid a good price for it but after seing how it was all put together i helped several friends of mine build their own custom size systems...its actually pretty easy...just need to get the principal down pat....Since you are a begging grower i would actually recomend that you work with the DWC sytem...this is one of the easiest sytems to put together. You can use either rubbermaid storage boxes or 5 gallon buckets...I started off with a 10 gallon rectangular rubbermaid with 4 3" holes in the top and a small fish tank powerhead to oxigenate the water and constantly mix the nutrients...This method worked well but the plants kind of grew into one another...you can either do less plants per rubbermaid or do the same system but using 5 gallon buckets...ea bucket with its own powerhead and on plant per bucket....using this method you will defintley get a NIZE heavy crop...lots of roots !!
As far as smell...Ive never grown that genetics b4 so i cant tell...some plants smell more than others...but if you have an exaust going to the roof or the bavckyard you shoud b fine!!
I hope this helps!!
"Fuck Pass That Shit" hahaha oh man that's some funny shit.
I think what all these people talking shit about t5s are forgetting about growing is it's not just about technical specs and shit. Ideally the best set up would be air cooled 1,000 watts with plenty of space to do all of it but not everyone has space to be running a big drug lab!
For closet/small space grows, I think T5's could be awesome. I have no personal experience with them, but I know that HPS in a closet is an ASSload of problems (seeing as it's hard to vent most closets). With Supplimented CO2, some tek 5's and some fans you could definitely pull down a big harvest in a small amount of space.
I SECOND THE MOTION !!! T5 is working great for me...I should be posting more pics today!!
Heres some pics...I think it aint lookin too bad....
heres some more pics...these were taken this morning....
according to MY calculations these babies are about 20 days into flowering...
Yo tico.
You seem like you're doing fine..
And therefor won't be needing help..
Good ongoing luck though..:)
PP
Thanks a lot PaRaNoIa!! :rasta:
Opinions are welcome...anyone out there 20 days into flowering with a 400w hps so we can maybe compare pics...je je je
Tico you seem to know your shit so I thought I'd ask you a quick question. What do you think about using this 4x4' grow light
http://cgi.ebay.com/4-FT-4-LAMP-HO-T...QQcmdZViewItem
for providing vegging (mothers and clones) to an 1,000w HPS SoG garden?
hey buddahbear, I love the idea!! If i had some more space here where im at that is defintely the sytem i would b using!! Good Luck brotha!!
here goes today's pic...I changed the water yesterday and started adding Tiger Bloom je je je
Hi TICO..
nice pics.. nice plants.. nice thread : )
: )
Lol doing research convinced me to use fluoro's for cloning and vegging before I even started. IMO unless your using HPS's and MH's together for flowering, MH's just seem like too much money spent on a light for vegging. I always believed fluoros we're cheaper and just as well for the vegging and cloning job.
thanks.. thanks.. and thanks!! :rasta:Quote:

Yeah I seen those, the plants look very good man. And those lights look so cool lol, I'm gonna have to buy one of those. Where did you get yours? If you got your's online could you link me to the web-site? :DQuote:

I went ahead and installed a 12"extraction fan in the window that leads to the back yard...that now creates a negative airflow when the door is shut...The fan actually sucks air from the cracks and crevices and no air or smell gets out...I havent really measured the temp since its really not hot at all...I read once that if you are confortable with the temp than your plants are to...If I had to estimate Id say its about 75 degrees in there...I use a local organic brand two part nute sytem aswell as fluoralicious plus and now im adding tiger bloom...Ive burnt my plants in the past so Im taking it real easy on the nutes this time around...Growing is a lot like cooking...just have to watch and see how your plants react...No bugs thank god!! A little but of algae in the canals when plants were small but it has greatly reduced now that there is more of a canopy in there...I have noticed though that algae grows really well under this light for some reason...I read that algae wont really hurt your plants though as long as its in small amounts...thats all I have is small amounts!! :smokin:
Thanks for all the possitive vibes peeps!! May the grow Gods bless you ALL!!!
I have been reading the whole post for a while, now. It is exactly the kind of post i've been looking for. I've been searching for a heatless alternative light source, i need a sleek and contemporary closet (inside-out), noiseless with ease control over the climate and a great yield producer. My only problem was the light source, until i discovered the t5s. I am sure the plants adore an enviroment free of the harmful IR radiaton of the HPS. Nowdays you see that fluoros are starting to be efficient enough. Considering the past and all the up to date developments, i believe that next generation fluoros will definetely be better than HIDs in any way.
I am just about to build my happy-closet, so tico you cant imagine how much i wait your ladies to groooow and how much i will n'joy their maturity!
Great job man, thumbs up.
Personally, i will add some CO2 juice as well on my setup. hehe ;)
Something else, i do not recommend the standar aquarium fixtures (like the expensive and beautiful TEK Light) because of the absense of intermediate reflectors in between the lamps. Light is not distributed evenly downwards and a lot of it is wasted in and around the lamps.
Tico, Grow them, until you Blow them!
I'm not sure what to say. I've been following this thread for a few days now as PTS has implied I've wondered about the legitimacy of this grow myself. When I saw the "*uck8 you* paperwork I thought it was pretty convincing. My problem now is the rapid growth over a 3 day period. On 10/23/06 Tico said "heres some more pics...these were taken this morning....". On 10/25/06 Tico said "here goes today's pic...". How bout giving us the same angle shots each day. While writing this response I spent a good amount of time going back and forth between pictures. Blowing them up to full size and trying to tell if I could see if the plants could grow that much in 2 days. Not blown up there seems to be a big difference in the buds but closer up I can't tell. Maybe different angles. If this is a true grow, with the amount of bud you've got on your plants, you better not rely on the T-5. I already see light missing near the bottom and that will allow for a lesser harvest in the end. Maybe put some of those lights on the side.. I'm new to the forum but have been growing for 15 years and am having a hard time believing this could be true. I guess I'll just stay tuned.
Would this be fixed by the use of mylar on the walls? I am also interested in the performance of this fixture. Reflectors between the bulbs would definitely be a better performer than one without.Quote:

or shall I say, are these our pieces of evidence....
LET US TAKE A LOOK!!!!!
Mr. TROUT
You are questiong weather a plant can grow this much in 2-3 days?
It does not seem like to much growth to me.. The top angel just is not as revealing....
....
case open
let the pundits speak!!!

Hmm, elamentary my dear GK. LOL.
With using CO2 with the T5's, you may run into some dificulties, wonder why, can anyone guess the answer?
We will see in the next chapter.
Adieu
What? they're Bad with Co2?
Because you can't isolate the light/heat with an air-cooled hood or cooltube, which means you need to have your ventilation system running more often, which will suck out the co2 along with the heat, defeating the purpose. Well, I guess theoretically you *could* build one huge honking 'cooltube' for that T5 system, but it'd be enormous, and way difficult.
Hi guys...Im glad to see that everyone has taken a liking to this thread...I am using the grow T5 not the aquarium t5...better reflection... I can see why everyone thinks these plants arent for real...the growth from this light is incredible I do admit!! For that aexact reason is why I satrted this thread...Believe me I would tell my buddy everyday that his new light sucked and that my HPS were gonna be a better yield...we ended getting about the same yield and in my opinion his plants looked a lo nicer...So I am posting my grow step by step so that all can see...
My plants are forming a hedge which is pretty hard to be penetrated by light...We chopped a ton of leaves yesterday to open the plants up a bit...Im sure they will filll in nice...Im not to worried about the bottow dwellers anyway...I will be putting mylar on the walls next grow...Im sure that will help a little!
Im not to sure on the CO2 thing....these light dont emit that much heat where the extraction fan is on all day..im sure I could turn the fans off while running co2...
To all the thread readers...feel free to put me to the test...I will answer any question or doubt you might have about these plants!!
Pass me the lighter my Dear Watson!!:pimp:
Today's Pics
I think you'd find those lights put out a lot more heat than you think they do. They seem cool(er) because the heat is generated over a much larger area, whereas with HID lights it comes from a very small area. They might even generate MORE heat than an HID, I don't know. They use more power (compared to a 400-watt HID light), and generate less light, so that reduced efficiency and extra power usage is being turned into *something*. If it's not light, and it's not matter, then what else could it be but heat?
I bet if you sealed up your box tight, and turned off all ventilation, and turned on the light, and did the same thing with a 400-watt HPS light, and used the same starting temperature in both scenarios, that after an hour of the lights being on, the temperature in the box would be comparable. If it's not, then either the laws of physics are being violated, or that energy usage is being turned into something other than light or heat...and I don't know what that could be. If it's matter, then the lights would gain mass over time, and I don't think that happens. Sooo....
That sounds deep and Im stoned...sounds like your right though...Id like to test that...
Do not get confused mate here. Do not compare the efficiency of 2 different systems by subtracting their wattage difference to heat. Other reactions needs to be done in actual-physical level on each lamp type. The energy is used in totally different principles, so any attempt to compare is by definition wrong. Not only light, heat and matter can be present on the equation, as you say.Quote:
