whats up secret
i've been changing my cloner res every week. thats been working for me. i add just a small amount of bloom boost fert to the water now, and i also got a small aquarium heater to boost waters temp to about 68. to ensure humidity until the clones roots, i have the bottoms of 2 liter coke bottles to use as humidity domes. mist 2-4 times a day, (depending on if i work or not), and keep the bottles over them with a small gap to provide some airflow, while keeping most moisture in.
Just found this thread, and i have to say you are doing really great....
Good luck, and I will def. keep an eye on this log....
cman - thanks for stopping in and the kind words!
zebulon - glad you found my log, i look forward to seeing you back here again!
GG84 - always a pleasure. Thanks for the tips on the cloner. I knew the humidity had to be high, but I was definitely failing in that department. I put some temporary domes made of old gatorade botles on them tonight and misted them so hopefully that will hold them until i can put something better on. It actually looks like the tips were suffering from some heat stress, so I turned the exhaust fan on. Hopefully things will be ok.
The girl is growing like crazy. I have to raise the lights almost everyday. Tomorrow I have to rig something together re the screen/netting so that she wont grow into the lights while I'm gone. I am going to be very creative so I'll post some pics before I leave on Wed.
I'll be gone a total of 96 hours or so, I think she will be fine if I give her a huge watering before I leave. She'll prob be pretty thirsty when I get back but I imagine she will be ok.
Keep leaving comments and suggestions! I love checking this log all the time haha.
Peace all,

Got back early this morning from 4 days away and things are looking great. The big lady held out well under her fencing and the two top colas were tryin to get through when I took it off. Things are also starting to get very hairy, even some of the side colas. I'm thinking of tying down the two main ones so that everything will get similar light.
The clones are doing ok. I couldn't mist at all for 3 days and the one closest to the light definitely felt it; it has some burnt tips now which is unfortunate. The good news is that there appear to be some roots coming out of at least one of them, so that's a good thing. It took 7 days, but i did fuck around with the temps of the reservoir and box itself. I think things are ideal now, and that's why I'm getting better results.
I took some pics before I left and I am going to take some more pics after I change the water in the reservoir. I'll post them in a bit.
Hope everyone had a pleasent holiday.
Peace all,

Alright here are the first set of pics, as follows:
1) Room with "time away" fencing
2) Another fencing shot a little lower
3) Clones
4) Bottom tip of clone ... still no roots, although it seems like new growth on top (I'm going to look at the original clone pics to see)
5) Bottom part of clone. Should it be brown like that or still green?
More to come...
Here are the rest of the pics:
1) Side shot of big girl
2) Top shot
3) Close up of one top cola
4) Close up of other top cola
Let me know what you guys think. Is it normal to have such skinny top leaves on those colas, even in an indica strain?
Peace,

:thumbsup:man secret this log is coming out beautifully.....they look great....and i love the cloner....personally i do it the old fashion way...just call me stubborn, but ive been whating to build me a bubble cloner for a year now!.... Awesome.....two thumb up!
what up killa,
thanks for stopping by and the kind words! i just read through your CH9 Green Bud hempy grow log and DAMN that girl looks huge! Do you think the hempy buckets are what make them grow so damn fast? Awesome! Also your clones are gorgeous, I wouldn't change a thing if I were you.
Just wanted to note today is flowering day 18. I'll make sure to post that from now on.
Peace all,

So the bad news is that I think the clones are dying. All the tips are yellowing and dying, even on the "new" growth and there is still no evidence of rooting, and it's been 10 days. I will post some pictures in a minute, but is there anything anyone can suggest? The set-up is as follows:
Bubble cloner with 2.5 gal H20, 1 drop SuperThrive and 3ml ThriveAlive per gallon.
1 26-W CFL
79degrees in clone box
Humidity domes that probably don't get enough misting since I am not around much.
The "rooting" parts are basically brown at this point and there is no evidence of any roots coming out. Are these clones done for or are they saveable? I am 20 days into flower, how difficult is it to pull new clones?
GG84 are you out there? Or Bozo? I know you both have bubble cloners with huge success.
HELP!!
- Secret
i don't think they're done for. if the yellowing progresses to consume 50%+ of leaf area, then they're probably goners. keep up the misting as often as possible. the finer the mist, the better. i also spray the interior of the dome, and thats keeps it moist-er longer. i'm crossing fingers for your lil ladies! i'm sure it'll work out. all chalks up to learning!
stay safe
-GG84
thanks for the words of encouragement GG84. I was sitting there re-reading some of your posts about your cloner and thinking about what I could have possibly done wrong. Then it hit me. pH!!
I checked the pH in the bubbler. Off the fucking charts. Like 8+ (I know, terrible noob mistake). Got my pH down, and it took a ton, but I got it down to around 6 or a little lower. Hopefully this saves my little babies. I figure I will be able to tell in the next 4-5 days if there is hope still. It will be quite a comeback to say the least!
Other then that I LSTed the big lady a bit. I never realized how much fun it can be to put the girls in bondage! I think it will allow a lot more light into the middle
Any ideas on "autowatering"? Going to be away for approx 9 days in 2 weeks. Very very nervous.
Take care all and keep posting!
- Secret
ah, yes. the often-forgotten but oh-so-important pH. you'll want to check/adjust pH after adding your superthrive and thrive-alive (i'm actually not sure if they're pH buffered or not, but testing pH right before you give the water to the plants is a good habit to get into) and check it often enough at first to get an idea of when you will need to change your reservoir. <---holy run-on sentence, batman
ph 5.8-6.2 will be good for the bubbler. i may just be a little too high, but thoughts that i've heard something about clones prefering a higher (or maybe lower) pH are creeping into my head. i'll research that and get back to you... anywhos, 5.8-6.2 has worked for mine.
ha ha! bondage... funny... hope the LST proves effective for you. i want to see the before and after of when you leave for those 9 days! speaking of that, have you seen the little hand-blown glass globes with a little stem coming out of them? I HAVE NO IDEA IF THESE WORK WELL, LET ALONE FOR CANNABIS, but it might be something to look into. lets see if i can find a link...
Aqua Globesā?¢ watering bulbs Plant Watering System.
now (as i am an eternal skeptic), keep in mind that this is the company-run site, and i didn't bother to look for any reviews. thats up to you! i've also seen these sold at my local gardening store. perhaps someone else on the forums has tried them...? hope it helps!
stay safe everyone.
-GG84
We've got roots!! On both clones! One of them is pretty yellow on the lower leaves, so if she makes it I'll be pretty impressed. The other one is looking pretty good though. Either way, probably on Sunday or so (depending on root growth of course) I will put them in soil and see if I can give them a fighting chance.
My plan is to shut down the cloner and use the clone box as a veg room. I'll probably only use 1 - 105W 6500K CFL in this one for the moment and use some major LSTing / clone cutting to keep 'em short of the moment (I know, cutting clones would infer that I need to restart the cloner, but I'll deal with that when I get there). The box is only 20" high I think so the max I can probably get is 12"-14" before I put her in the flower box.
I'll take some pics either tonight or tomorrow and let everyone see how things are going.
Peace all,
-Secret
the ol' pH theory proved correct. nice one, secret
haha, what up GG84.
damn pH theory. i tell ya it's the root of every f-ing problem from soil to hydro. Either way, I am glad I got it figured out.
see ya around buddy,
-secret
Just snapped some pics for the lady and the clones roots so I thought I'd throw them up. As follows:
1) Entire big lady
2) A little closer. The main colas are on the far right and left (from LSTing)
3) Main top close up
4) More Close ups
5) Close up again
Let me know what you think of her.
Just a few not so great pics of the roots from the cloner. How do I know when the roots are ready to move on to soil?
The pics are pretty self-explainatory. I didn't even put picks of the plants because one looks like total shit (probs a goner) and the other one doesn't look all that pretty. Wish I had figured out the pH thing at the beginning! Oh well ...
Peace all,
-Secret
wow she looks great and the clones too.
make sure to wate and transplant the clones after they have grown around 1 inch of roots.
thats how I was told how to do it. thats was 5 years when I first started trying to clone my plants.
the 1 inch roots will get a hold of the medium better thus keeping the plants healthyer.
:thumbsup::jointsmile:
Thanks hydro, i appreciate the advice and compliments.
Today was rather productive. The clones were rooting amazingly well so I put them into soil and watered them with a tiny bit of SuperThrive, ThriveAlive and veg nutes to help them get going. And I do mean a tiny ... I don't want to burn these babies.
I converted the clone box into a veg room and put the 105W 6500K in there. With the exhaust and passive intake it is actually staying plenty cool in there which is a nice surprise. I think around 72 last time I checked. Let's just hope these girls perk up in their new home.
I just got my flower nutes and will be watering with them today. I have FF Tiger Bloom (2-8-4) and Dr. Hornby's Bug Bud (0-10-40). Hopefully that will start to fatten up those buds (not that I am complaining).
The clones are ugly so I'm going to wait until the grow a bit before snapping pics.
Stay safe everyone,
-secret
I was in the room today, bored so I snapped some pics. It's amazing the growth in the buds after only 3 days with their new flower nutes. I can honestly see a difference.
Let me know what you think.
Peace,
-secret
Oh ya, and there are some pink pistils in each of the tops. I don't think they are bad but anyone ever run into that? Any reasons why?
Very nice grow man only with CFLs!
What's the height of your big momma?
And how long it will take 'till harvest?
Come see my grow man! CFLs only too!!
i have to say these are some pretty plants for some cfl's....looking forward to seeing this plant harvested down the road
monkey - thanks for stopping by. I checked out your log and things are looking pretty darn good. I love to see another CFLer out there.
cman - things are coming along, i can't wait until harvest either!
As for the height of my girl, without breaking into the box and measuring her ... my guess is 24" give or take 2". Everyday she gets bigger!
Also, today is exactly week 4 for flowering, and according to the company, it's a 7-9 week bloomer. SO, if I harvest some earlyish (just mostly cloud triches, a couple ambers) which I am planning to do for a more heady high, then lets say 21 more days? That puts me at ... shit, new years. On the far end of that spectrum add another 14 days puts me at mid Jan.
Shit I did not realize how soon that is. I gotta get my shit together haha.
Thanks for stoppin by,
-secret
You need to get low RH % dude. They'll produce more resins and thc! I think.
We want pics!
??? My RH% is only like 30-40%, which is pretty low / acceptable. Where do you get that info?
I'll pose more pics this weekend.
Peace,
- Secret
30% humidity is good. 40% humidity is acceptable. a bit high, but fine. as far as i know, low RH is to deter mold. never heard anything about higher THC content. find a link if thats true, monkeybone
It's an assumption. If it's dry the plant will protect itself from this so the flowers are more resineous and stuff...Found nothing on more thc tho...It's only a mental thing I think :stoned:
Ya, I don't have a mold problem, and actually the exhaust fan and passive intake really moves the air around a lot in there. I don't have a ton of options on this grow for lowering the the RH, but perhaps next grow I will add some more things.
Monkey, I have heard that low humidity increase resin, which is a good thing, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't effect THC. I've been reading up on advanced techniques to increase resin at the end and I'll let you guys know if I choose something.
One clone died (I knew it would). The other clone has been spending all its energy growing underground but thats fine. She looks pretty gross right now, but at this point I don't really care. If she dies, thats life (or death i suppose?), if not, she'll be a survivor. When I get back from holiday I'm going to pop some more seeds so we'll see how that goes!
On the big girl the "40% stretch period" is over for sure so now the buds are just getting fat and trichy ! I'm good with that ;)
I'll post pics on Saturday or Sunday.
Peace all and thanks for stopping by GG and Monkey!
-Secret
yeah, them clones look ugly for about two weeks. same here. afraid to post pics of the uggies. judgemental canncom... :)
Wow! They really grow 40% more when you put them in flowering mode? 40% taller and 40% wider? So if plants are 24" tall and 12" wide they'll be almost 36" tall and 18" wide! Big fuc*ing plants! (For a closet of 5' by 5')!
Question: When you put them to flower, do you use nitrogen when you fertilize them? Not as much as vegetation mode but a little or nothing at all?
Updates on my log! New home!
Man secret....the clones look good the plants look great...what else can i can...pure beauty....And too you question....yeah i fully dedicate the speed and growth to the hempy buckets....its not quite as fast and full as a full hydro setup but its no where close to as slow as soil grow...somewhere in the middle as far as speed...The method is super easy....you should try it one day!Quote:

40/60 Theory
It's an interesting theory to say the least, and I think it is pretty true. Now I see the buds growing a little upwards, but mostly getting fat and icy. Just how I like my women ... lol! i kid i kid. But in all honesty it's kind of nice because I can pretty confidently raise my lights and leave them there while I'm gone without worrying about 2-3" growth everyday ya know?
killa - about the hempy buckets:
1) I saw you have used up to 11L buckets and also used just like a coffee bucket size too. What dictates the size of the buckets? It seems like they are much smaller then soil buckets.
2) What sort of nutes do you end up using?
3) What do you start your seeds/ clones in?
If you have any links to more info on those buckets I'd love to see it.
Alright, I'll post some pictures later on, I gotta take a f-ing nap first haha.
Peace all!
the size difference in buckets usually has to do with the veg that i give the plants....since from my experience plants usually dont grow many roots during flowering....so the size of the buckets usually has to do with my veg period....i run the 32 oz bottles with a very short veg....they never get rootbound even with close to a 2 week veg....the coffee containers i will run up to 30 days of veg....and the 11 lts anything more than 30 days of veg.....i think the sizes are almost perfect for the period of veg....and all the sizes and time periods have never shown any plant being rootbound....Quote:

In my mixed female log....me and dooobster go over pretty detailed directions on hempy buckets.....unfortunatly the origanal method was post by a HG420 member Hempy and that site is no longer up! Any further questions feel free to ask!
ok ok thanks man I now understand the 40/60 thing.
Good infos!
killa - thanks for all the info, i will definitely read up more on these hempy buckets and try them out for me next grow. It actually looks like a pretty good way to eliminate some of the bucket height I have issues with now.
I just ordered some new seeds from the Attitude Seed Bank. I went in a totally different direction this time ... Dutch Passion Durban Poison Feminized. 100% sativa is the EXACT opposite of what I'm doing now. But since I feel like I have a handle on it at the moment, why not? It also came with 5 free G13 Lab Power Skunk and 1 Feminized Gigabud seed. So we should have a nice variety if anything, right?
I am also going to expand the grow areas so it should allow for some more serious stuff. More on that later. ;)
Pics in a second gotta get them off my camera.

Check out this girl now! I actually took her out of her home and smelled her up close for the first time and it was one of those amazing smells that makes your teeth tingle. God I can't wait.
Pics as follows:
1) The whole thing, you can see the height.
2) Top down
3) Back in her room
4) A pretty nug there with pink hairs!
5) Another fatty
more coming ...
1) Closer of all the tops
2) Bottom fan leaves turning lighter green (I'm assuming on the way to yellow).
Yellowing leaves I am guessing is because they are just getting a real lack of light at this point combined with some sort of need for Nitrogen?
I'll give them a touch of nitrogen next feeding but I don't want to get them too spoiled haha.
Ok I'm done. Hollar at yur boy.
-secret
Very nice pics man..
Don't bother with the yellowing bottom leaves, they'll fall by themselves a way or another.
I can't wait for mines to give me flowers like this!
yaaaahhhhooooo!!!!! wow... i mean, look at you. i think if i ever get the time i need to reread this log again. makes me want to do one. whats it been, a month? ive been skimming through on my phone (you are bookmarked) checking out the pics the best i can. the wife has finals and has the laptop 24/7.
she looks great. how long do you think the stretch phase was? my bubba kush is about 3 weeks and finishes in about 8. the purp i do is about the same but you normally let it go a few days longer to get the color. where as this lambs breath is almost a 4 week stretch and can take as long as 9 weeks. fighting these things back with a weed eater. anyways its just a guide, its really all about the high you want to get out of it. i like the early cut, its a much more active high. and the kush is a body high already. so...i forgot where i was going with this. i lost a lambs cola in an unfortunate super cropping accident and for some reason felt the need to smoke half of it tonight. i need to go to bed.
oh, you ever think about LST. its too late for a "real" lst but maybe some little eye bolts in the wall and cut some long strips of twist-ties. to start pulling those tall ladies out and down.
the yellowing on the bottom leaves looks normal. it actually dont look that bad under normal light. at the point where you are now i have usually taken off the bottom 4-6 fan leaves.
i little advise, i have been using GH nutes for years and i recommend them to everybody i talk to, i buddy of mine went from GH to house and garden but i just love the weight and quality GH puts out. flora or nova, i use flora....cause i can buy it 6.5 gal at a time. the only non GH stuff i use is cal/mag and this newer stuff Bloom from Australia, i use their final. 0-0-0 but i think it really does a lot. and once in a while i use a non Gh sub culture.
ok bed for real now
