TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
I like Fang too, looks real energetic and strong....NL5 X Haze genetics, she has lost of grow potency for sure....gonna be a big one...
"Brainstorm is a sturdy plant with the power and yield of the famous
Northern Lights #5, hybridized with potent 100% Haze genetics.
Brainstorm has a solid, strong long lasting "high", combined with a
well balanced, soft smoking experience. Good for bumper harvests."
Let's just hope that the PP will yield too, and not gonna crap itself in the middle of the flowering, like last time....
So...do i see right that Fang is already in the big redwood tree bucket??

TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Zeb you slay me with that kind of stuff.....going and looking it up. I predict you'll go far in life.
We've just started two new little hazes btw.....another SNL x NH (this one was our personal best yield to date.....9.3 oz) and an Arjans Strawberry Haze (thanks Rock. :))

TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Few more quick tidbits.....can't remember if I mentioned but the WW is on plain water and has been for the last 3 days. We will be harvesting tomorrow. :woohoo:
Whiteberry weighed out at 4 oz 20gm.....more than we expected by an ounce. Has a nice piney smell to it (sort of reminds me of Master Kush) and is a smoother smoke for something uncured than usual. The high I can't quite tell yet......doesn't seem sleepy which is already a plus imo.
Also....still working on that church seed.....damn SNL x NH already popped and been put in the system in the time that seeds been sitting there. :wtf:
Started another cotton candy F seed as well.....;)

TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Zeb sorry if I missed it but to answer your q Fang is indeed in the ten gallon tub.....the WB was no sooner picked dry than I cleaned it, bleached it and threw Fang in it asap.
I wanted to try and get a root photo but completely forgot that she's taped in there....but her roots are superb.....beautifully white.....more so than I have grown so far in the red buckets. Can't take it out though....bummer.
That power plant is a funny one.....really seems to do great in flower but both ones we've grown have struggled in veg then really went wild later (until that poor one got rootbound but I don't think that will be a problem here with the net pot). I remember the last one stretched out real nice to catch the light and so far this one is staying very short and compact so I'm already seeing big differences between them. Seems that the ones that stay short like that always yield a little less all else being equal......not so good in a pound-per-plant trial so I think we're all just going to have to keep an careful eye on Fang. ;)

TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Sorry if my questions are a bit annoying....so here are another few...:D
How is the smoke of the cotton candy?? And have you tried the DD?? is there a big diff. between the sooner/later harvested bud??

TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Cotton candy.....Nice up high....I'm less impressed by it than I am by the SNL x NH but I have several friends who absolutely LOVE it. I'm not quite sure what a "creative" high is but with the cc I find smaller projects more interesting and tend to go into more detail with a more relaxed attitude....but NOT sleepy which I really appreciate.
The big difference between that and the SNL x NH is that the SNL tends to take that same thing to the next level up imo.
Dutch Dragon......Mr Hound and I talked about this after the second harvest. The yield did NOT improve enough for us to repeat the process of a partial harvest again. The BUZZ.....much more knockout than earlier harvest.....but quite the same buzz....only much stronger. This stuff just made me sleepy and worked quite well for Mr Hound's insomnia. It's funny because DD was supposed to be more up.....75% sativa.....and I found it to have much more of a "sedative" effect. Between that and the ridiculous denseness of the leaves etc we won't be growing it again.

TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
So we moved the 400w ballast into the growroom to increase our chances of success and yield. We are running it off a huge extension cord completely out of the room because that's exactly how we blew the room out before.
So now the question:
Should we switch the mh bulb for another hps (the 1kw hps is a hortilux eye) or keep it as an mh? Which would be more effective.....another hortilux?
Thanks guys
-
TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Rhizome if that means make some hash thats EXACTLY what we're going to do!! We've got two big cookie sheets of VERY nice trim and then a bunch of white coated sugar leaves to boot!
NO prelim data yet!! Hopefully tomorrow......
Got two more of them going as well......:D

TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Depends on how you're managing the room.
Fer instance, if your workflow permits, I really like to run under MH for the first couple of weeks of flower. I don't know how your rotation works- could you run under the four for the first 30% of flower and then slide over under the K?
Hang on- you've got a digi 4, don't you? :) You could run the 4 mh through stretch and then go to a hps , until you had room under the big light. The relative size of the lights would work out better if you were doing a high # low footprint cutting thing, but bringing stuff into early/mid flower under the 4 is a time honored thing.
I really like the hort blue MH- 400's even not that terribly expensive. ( K's are insane.) I think Stinky's running one @ the moment- check w/ her.
Sunmaster cool is a nice bulb, too.
I think that the hort en/hps bulbs are the best bang for the buck in the market, though I'm hearing crazy things about the CMH bulbs. ( Probs w/ CMH in the digis, by rumor... I dunno)

Looking great Mrs. Hound!
Tried giving you a rep, but seeing as how that seems to be a pastime of mine, I must hurry up and wait before I can give ya another one.
Keep it up, those DWC buckets are kickin'... and most certainly working!

TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Well I just tried to rep you too for the kind words and I couldn't either!! :wtf:
She looks good but afraid to guess weights. Prelim data: Little bit grassy (duh) but nie smoke....not harsh even uncured and you can feel her coming at your right away. Not sleepy (so far.....) but we're just starting. :D
More bioassay data later today. BEAUTIFUL white coating of trichs ALL OVER the buds.
(hmm now starting to feel her with the body stone.....) :stoned:

TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
is that for the purity aspect? Are they reusable?
Rhizome Mr Hound wants to go solar with that 400w so we can dump the extension cord.....think that would be really difficult or expensive? (or anyone else's thoughts on this as well....)
-
TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
ALSO......electrical related....most likely going to have to put our 4 inch 270 cfm infline back up and cool the 400 w that way through summer......how much wattage would we need to cover the startup power needed when turning both of theese on........any ideas anyone?

My method is as ghetto as it possibly can get, but it makes some pretty good bubble-hash, and only takes a few hours of preparation time.
First: Take as many frosted trimmings as you can get your hands on, and let them dry for a few days. Don't let them get too crispy, but you don't want them fresh off the plants. (Doesn't seem to work as well on fresh trimmings.)
Then: Get yourself a five gallon bucket, and fill about 3/4 of the way full with chilled water. Add your trimmings to the top, then throw in enough ice cubes to leave you with about 1" of free play at the top. (Works great if you have a lid for the bucket.)
After that: Take an electric whisk - inserting the whisk utensil through a hole in the lid, if you have one - and blend the ice/trimmings for at least a good 20 minutes. I usually go 30 minutes or longer, depending on how heavy the trichomes were.
Lastly: Let the mixture sit for about an hour, adding more ice if the old ice melted. I like to give it another good whisking (sp?) after an hour, just to make sure I've knocked all the glands off the leafy matter. Let it settle again. After that, get a fairly fine mesh sieve, and take out as much of the plant matter as you possibly can. (If you let it sit long enough, most of the plant matter should have floated to the top.) After all the leafy stuff is out, then take the bucket and drain it into another bucket through an industrial sized coffee filter. Repeat that process several times until you find that nothing is accumulating in the filter anymore.
Then press all the excess water out of the filters, and you're left with a nice crumbly golden mess that easily falls from the filter! Bear in mind, this isn't the most pure method, as you'll still have some leafy matter stuck in the hash, but it's not noticeable enough to cause any concern. And the end product is REALLY nice and bubbles up just like "pollen" you'll get from Bubble Bags.
A little ghetto, like I said, but it works in a pinch! Take care.

I've never made hash, but I've seriously been considering getting a 5 or 8 bag set. I thought about making some bags, but I think rhizome kinda talked me out of it, or at least that conversation never went very far. If I remember right, it's probably better to just shell out the money to the guys that make them professionally.
If you are going solar anything, it's better to set things up so that the power is routed back into your house overall, instead of trying to power individual things. If you don't use much power when it's sunny, you may need to store some in batteries, otherwise it just makes your electric meter run slower, or in some cases it will even run backward. Some people even end up having the electric company pay them, but I'm not holding my breath on that one any time soon.
I'd love to have an extra couple hundred grand laying around to line my roof with solar panels. I studied the sun as a future energy source in college. It's not going to replace dams or nuclear power plants any time soon unfortunately, but it is feasible for those of us in sunny locations. Like you WH, you lucky dog.

for what its worth, i would deff. be using another hortilux eye hps.
thats what i use in a VERY small space (4x4x4), and the 9 bitches i shoved in there, did well with alot of lst'ing.
:pimp:
it gets real hot. i made a cool tube from info found on this website.
im hitting like week 8 of flower with signs of harvest in a week and a half.
ill show results to give an idea of the power if just one...

TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Think I agree Chinacat.....the ballast is digital and can use either type of bulb. We can't really do what Rhizome suggested as far as starting under one and then using the other so I believe we'll grab another hortilux and go with two. ;) (PS did hook up the 170 (not 270) 4 inch inline to the reflector....already a bit cooler in the room.....especially with summer still ahead....:wtf:)
Bozo, thanks so much for the kind words.....I'll stop over and check your grow for sure. :)

TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Weedhound I'd go with the hps for veg and flower, but thats just me...
I'm using a thouie on a 6ft track w/ light mover... wish I have more cash for the digi though.
good luck on the redwood can't wait...

Hi d4....thanks for stopping by the log. :)
We were runnning the 400wmh in the veg area but decided it would be more useful in the flowering room since we are growing bigger plants these days so right now we've got cool cfls for the new seedlings (3 of them at this point.)

Lovely growroom....I watched a bit of it....once he started identifying each individual bud I got a bit lost.....not quite THAT interested but he certainly had some nice weed growing.
If anyone watches the entire thing did he mention using C02?
-
TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
And Shov could you drop by after your regular job and rewire our growroom? :D Neither Mr Hound nor I really touches and/or plays with wires and electricity. Opie (or Shov) you mentioned feeding the power back into the meter. We were hoping to add more power to that specific room only so we can dump the tree trunk extension cord. Something along 500 watts perhaps......is it doable or not worth the energy and/or expense?
-
TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Hey Sis. ,
I'd take a pic. of your existing fuse box / breaker box while it's open and email it or post it so Shov. can look at it . You house is dinky , I bet it's not even got a 100 amp box .
We had the same problem when I got the 3000watt "MAX POWER" bonner too . If the service isn't all loaded up already someone could come and eliminate a circut temporarily so you can add a small sub panel powered off the circut you eliminated and rerun it off of the subpanel as well as everything in Mr. Stretchys room too . This would be much cheaper than having someone come and install a larger breaker / fuse box .
Not something I'd advise the average homeowner doing though . My guy got 150.00 plus parts to do it but he likes me .
