Ty for all the info Hatch. Been reading yours and others logs and making notes. Getting ready to move from Soonerland, already have my medcard lined-up, and start raising some ladies. Your info has been ensightful 4 fold. Was fully ready to use a DWC set-up but now you opened another choice to consider.
Have you used a DWC and if so could you fill me in on your opinion of the pros and cons of both? I travel all the time and having a system that allows me to be gone for a few days at a time is almost a priority. (I get tix to football, basketball games and concerts across the U.S.) Hell if u b new Big D could pass some of them your way, I get them free so it's all good.
Hope you can understand how hard it is not to rip on you for being a texan..heheh
Was another "one of you" on here that I use to banter with. Good ole' red river rivalry.
I will reread your post and make sure any Q's I have were not already answered. One that has me curious tho is about how much juice do you think you are using to keep it all running? I am a geek, Software Developer, and trying to plan my grow so each watt and dollar spent is maximized to the fullest. If I could it would be total solar and wind powered but the equipment would set me back more than just freaking moving to Holland.
Peace Bro.

Say Bro, Thank's for Hanging Out!!!!!!!
I guess the main different's is in the DWC the root's are in aerated water, & something like a aeroponic system has a seperate res. Way back when I started hydroponic's, I used DWC, alway's had root problem's. I have never had any kind of root problem's with the Aeroponic's.
If you travel alot. I would say Aeroponic's would be Your best bet. I would make sure you had a good handle on Your water PH, ect, ect, & Your mister's are working good, I can fill My res. & it will go for a week with-out having to change anything. I would make sure all these Duck were in a row before leaving for 3-day's. It might be a good thing to find a trusting caretaker, just to help out when you are gone??? I don't like the Idea, but it could help out if there was a problem.
Hey I Root for Sooner's When We aren't Playing Them!!!!Thank's for the offer on the Ticket's!!!!! But Bro, I don't get out much!!!!
About the Juice. Ya that the only down fall. I try to time everything to hit & miss each other. & make sure I dont have a heavy draw it any given time, just a steady draw 24/7. My bill's are from $350.00 to $600.00, From the Rate change's from season to season, That Suck's, But If that's the only Down-Fall, I can handle that standing on My Head, EH!!!!!HEHEHEHE
Well hopefully this might help You out alittle!!!& If You can't find what You need to know, Just Ask!!!!:pimp:

Ya, I shouldn't have used that $350.00 figure, that was during the winter. We don't have hard winter's so I don't use the heater. & that was like the lowest bill ever!!!
OK, I live by Myself, Main thing Running around here is the Grow Room's. All together I have around 7,000 watt's. I have it set-up where 12/12 room's are opposite from each other, one on-one off, I use 16/8 in my Veg-room. Also to off-set the over-lap from the veg-room's, The HID only run 12 Hour's a Day & the rest of there schedule is carried with CFL's. So at any time there is about 2500 to 3000 watt's or so running at one time. Let Me tell You, That Schedule took a long time to dail in!!!! But work's good.
So, Thank's for hanging Out!!!!! Hope I Answered Your Question?? If not I will try again.:pimp:

Hey Hatch,
Dude, southern engineering rocks!
As far as costs, my box with 600 Watt/digital ballast, and a bunch of ventilation to keep it cool drove my electric bill up $60 a month.
Curious - what kind of yield do you typically expect from your system? And how often?
I'm going to re-engineer mine into a multi-cabinet system to hopefully get to a harvest every 2 months.

hatch, you are way more advanced than I will be for many years, but I aspire to have a system, on a smaller scale, similar to yours once I do a great amount of research and come to a fuller understanding of the issues. The main purpose of my reply is due to my lurking within your thread and ogling your many fine ladies - I felt obligated to say "thanks" for sharing all of your knowledge and eye candy. As a fellow Southerner, I try to abide by my manners.
I wish you continued success, and I look forward to seeing you around the board. Be good out there, my friend!

There's some Southern hospitality right there. Or, as my wife would say - "rat dare." Nah, her accent isn't that bad, but she's a Southern Belle, ahrat! I truly appreciate the offer of help, my friend. Don't be surprised if I take you up on it 1 day. Right now, I have a very simple outdoor grow - my 1st. I'm learning a bit the basic development of the plant - she's a hardy weed alright, as she is surviving just about everything I throw at her.
Strangely enough, as you were discussing how your family likes to cut up too. I'm trying to convince a family member who has some incredible engineering experience to help me build a grow cabinet. We'll see where that goes - I just need to smoke him up a bit more to make the idea sound better.
Well, enough of my rant. God Bless!

hatch, thanks for checking out my thread! I truly appreciate someone with your experience lending an eye to my plant. Since I only have the 1 plant, I want to make sure she will survive, even if I only get a small amount of bud off her. I'm really learning quite a bit though - mainly from guys/gals with experience, like you!
Yeah, I thought it was a bit weird it already budding too; she has been for about 9 days - basically at just over 1 month of vegitative stage. I'm going to try to put her in a place with more direct sunlight - we'll see where that takes her. Enough about my plant though, as I don't want to hi-jack your thread, my friend.
I need to keep studying up on your cabinet, as it is amazing! I have to figure out how to put one in my attic for wintertime grows, as I can grow outdoor during the summer, and indoor during the winter. I would like to make it as easy to operate as possible, which from your thread, it appears your system just about runs itself once you get it in place.
Thanks again for your input, my friend. Take good care out there!

Boy Hatch, you sure do seem to get the most out of every inch of space. I just got back from picking up parts for an aeroponics set up like yours. I was not able to get the screw in pvc plugs so I got the glue in ones. I am worried about them getting clogged and not being able to take them apart for cleaning. Have you had to unscrew the risers to clean them and the misters.
This is probably the wrong thread for these questions, I have been jumping back and forth from this thread to the aero thread, sorry. If this is a problem let me know cuz I am coming up with more questions about this by the minute.

OK, Ya the Glue in Plug's are not first choice, but will work, Ya the Mister's do get clogged in a Blue Moon. I hope You got atleast a 200 mesh inline filter??? That is the BIG KEY, To prevent anything getting to the Mister's. You should, Run Trouble free for month's???
I Wish You Much Luck & Skill In Your Construction, If You get Stumped, Feel Free to ask Before Making any costly era, No Problem Is To Small Or To Big To Fix!!!!!!!
Now Get To Work!!!!!!!!:pimp::pimp::pimp:

hatch, I apologize for being so long in getting back to your thread! It is a grand place to hang out. I'm going back through your thread in hopes the 2d time around will begin to form an understanding of your system. I truly appreciate the offer to walk me through a build based upon my attic pictures - I am seriously considering taking you up on your offer, as one day it will be too cold out by the pool to house any potted plants.
I hope all has been well with you, my friend! Be good out there!

Nice! i've been thinking about getting a couple cooltubes to cool my shit down.
2 things i thought i'd mention, just food for thought type of stuff...
1.) Some lights are meant to hang horizontally...i'm not sure why or if hanging it vertically shortens the bulb life...but you might want to see if your bulb specifies.
2.) looks like you have aluminum foil on the walls. If that is so, that may have been part of your heat issue, i've read that stuff reflects/holds more heat than light. i'd suggest getting some cheap flat white paint, a roll of mylar, or at the very least a couple of those $2 emergency blankets.
Just a couple thoughts.
looking good.

Thank's For Dropping In!!!,,,,,,,,OOOO YA, Eye Hortilux Can Be Hung Any-Way!!!
The Foil Has Been On There For 10 Or So Year's,,,,The Heat Was Coming From 105+ Heat Outside, & 1,000wat. With A Open Hood, & 400wat.'s of UV-CFL's In 21Sq.Ft.
I Took Out The UV-CFL's, & I Have 760cfm Running Through The Cooltube, & Added Another 465cfm Exhaust, It Dropped The Heat About 20*,,With Still 100+ Outside Temp's..
Thank For Your Thought's!!!!!,,,,,,,Best Of Luck!!,,,,,,Later,,HATCH:stoned::rasta::rastasmoke ::pimp::smokin:

Wow hatch, looks like you rebuild your grow areas as much as I do. One day maybe we can get it right and just sit back and watch the plants grow. As soon as we get it right though, they'll probably come out with new technology we'll just have to have, then do it all over again.
Thanks for taking the time to share your plans. Some of those bud shots look nice and frosty.

Hatch bro, been watching all your threads, especially Trich's pix!! Those pix make me drool!! I haven't posted, because I did not think I'd go hydro or aero: Now, I am thinking a bit different. I keep dropping in and fail to post, figured it is about time!
Due to age, I want to set up once and only once. Doubt I need too many plants. I live in the country like you, so am not concerned about smell as much as ease in operation. Feed and water. I was thinking that water would be a lot for me to deal with, the weight of it, etc. I can't lift things too heavy anymore. That could change-still healing from prev. surgery last year.
Have read so much on LED's. You mentioned you are experimenting with them-any results? I think I'd like to go that route, but it is still somewhat primative. Bet Alaskans, have some good ones!
I am thinking it would be easier to build my room and stick a few clones outside during the spring. Since, it is just me, I don't need a lot. Until I build inside, was thinking I could build a cabinet and use it inside my shed. Use your advice-put together with screws and move inside or where I please!
Your picture's just drive me nuts. The doodles, I've seen them from one other grower (very small one), drawing is addictive and nice to see someone doing things with pencil and paper for a change--oh how I miss that!
Now, I am going to start reading more on aeroponics! Oh, so much to learn. Just don't want to do it and have to keep on re-doing. Want to find a system that works, for me, and keep repeating! Unlikely, I will ever not need my mmj!
You are right, if your gonna grow one in TX, might as well do it big-that is what TX is about!
I seemed to have missed your smoke reports? Somehow? Take care and will be in touch! pr

Hey Sister!!!!,WHT'S UP????,,,,,,,,Your Right, I Never Put A Smoke Report In???,,,,,,,Alway's Just One Right After Another In The Grow's, & Never Really Thought That Much About A Smoke Report????,,Sorry...
But Hey, If You Want To Do Aeroponic's, I Think It Would Work Good For You,,,There Really Not That Much Lifting,,, You Let The Pump's Do That For You,,,& Then Just Wet-Shop-Vac,,The Rest Out,, Fill It Back Up,,PH,,Nut's,,& Beside's Topping It Off, & Keeping The Ph. Around 5.7,,Your Good To Go For About Ten-Day's...
And If You Want To Build Something In The Shed???,Give Me Some Measurement's, & What We Have To work With ??? & I will Help You Lay-Out The Panels,,So You Can Easily Screw Them To-Gether!!!
