assholes always f**k over good people. :(
Looks gorgeous man. Are all your lights dedicated to canopy lighting? Have you thought about maybe putting some on the sides? At the store today i saw these CFL's that were flat tubes, they were 300W equivalents. They are kind of hard to explain, but the problem was they plugged into a 4 prong adapter... Has anyone seen these before? I'm doing more research right now to figure out what these were.

There are lights on the tops and sides on of most all the plants. I've been rotating them, so all sides get light. I want to get a few flat tubes though. 300w ones you saw? nice! let me know what you find out what they plug into

When are you going to Flower that bitch Hate heaven?

New to CFL growing
I started flowering a week ago. I got 2 females and i think 1 more is female, but it hasn't sexed yet.
-
New to CFL growing
Did you change your bulbs to the correct light spectrum? Those high kelvin ratings are for veg son.
-
New to CFL growing
did you not see how many new bulbs I got? I have about 280 watts now. 80% red spectrum.
-
New to CFL growing
Those lights in the pic you posted on the 4th doesn't look "red" to me. Should look like regular incandescent light. I mean if you've changed them then coooooooool. Just looking out!

The camera I used was from a cell phone, any light will show up white.
-
New to CFL growing
yea, it is kind of hard to tell. Now that i think about it, my phone does the same.
I couldn't find a damn thing about those lights.... weird. This weekend im going to go searching in Home Depot to find that 4 prong adapter.
Here is what I saw: 4-Pin 2D / Butterfly: Light Bulbs Etc, Inc.

WHOA! Bodom is posting?!?!? Been a while since you've posted! You have plenty of rubbermaid successors!
-
New to CFL growing
Balkey you also construct very nice Rubbermaids. You and Bodom fucking rock!!! IM sorry Balkey, but did you say your chick was a Lowrider?
-
New to CFL growing
Yup both my chicks are LR2. Fully pollinated chicks lol. BUT, should ensure future good times. I took the idea from Bodom. His box inspired me, well and some others.

New to CFL growing
Hey Medicman, that light you found is interesting, could be very useful in a confined space for secondary lighting. HMMMMM
-
New to CFL growing
yea i dont think its very practical though. it seems like the outlet u need for it is $30+ wherever u can find it. You could just get a bunch of fluoro tubes for that price. I want my cabinet to have walls of light! those butterfly ones would be sweet since they are flat, but ya the adapter for it is a buzzkill.:(

All 3 have pistols and are confirmed female, I hope. On both the Super Silver Haze's (the middle and right plants) there are lots of female preflowers and on the lower nodes I found what appeared to be little balls. They weren't bunched up like male preflowers, there was only 1 on each node and could come off when touched. I took all of them off in fear of pollination. I read that they could be female preflowers that just don't have the hairs coming out of them yet. I know my camera is good enough to take pictures of them, but can anyone PLEASE help me out?? :(
-
New to CFL growing
Yeah, I have a growth like that on a plant I LST'ed. It's at a node that I topped too, so I figured it was just stress. If anyone has any insight that'd be great.
-
New to CFL growing
Ive been researching it the past few days and couldn't find anything on it.
-
New to CFL growing
From what your saying and I have read, you have 2 puffy objects sort of next to each other, and have some red hairs coming out of it? If thats the case, I have seen those on plants in person and I wouldn't concern myself with them. Nuts on a male have a distinct look and I don't think they are what you are seeing. I am almost positive its common on some strains and plants. Don't take my word for it though, but I wouldn't worry about them though. BUT, keep doing some research, talk to experienced grower, and find a picture!!!!! because I could be wrong.

Crap, another thread with deleted pictures. Sorry to hear about that.

Wow, Is that what happened? That really sucks :(
-
New to CFL growing
Man, well yeah that sucks lol.
-
New to CFL growing
The growth was starting to look like a nanner because it was starting to elongate and three ridges. I picked it off and decided to top another growth as an experiment. If it happens again, momma don't like topping.
-
New to CFL growing
Okay, so after a little inspiration () I was thinking: The plant was LST'ed so the internodal growths would become main colas. Now, I topped the first upward growth after only the second or third node. Could it be that it hermied because I topped it too soon, rather than waiting for say, fifth or sixth node? Just a thought, input appreciated.
-
New to CFL growing
I have seen in places elsewhere weird things happen with plants that get topped really young. A lot of them seem to look hermie, so i think it could be a factor.
-
New to CFL growing
LOL my plant has balls on it.... im going to see how it turns out, i did not top it either... what the hell is going on?!
-
New to CFL growing
Yep my plant was releasing pollen, all together there were like 6 banana lookin things, and a couple "unopened balls". I took them all off, looks like ill have some buds with seeds now right? the banana things were releasing pollen. If so, i dont really care, arent seeds from hermie buds feminized?
-
New to CFL growing
Shit, if that's the case I shoulda let the little bugger keep going and put her into flowering. Someone confirm or deny that notion.

I originally heard this from HateHeaven lol :smokin: I looked around to try and find his source, then I remember reading a small thing from kindseed about feminized seeds. I found it and here is what is says:
"Feminized marijuana seeds are produced by forcing a female marijuana plant to produce male flowers and then using the pollen to fertilize another female. The result is marijuana seeds that will be 99 - 100% female marijuana plants."
They force a plant to go hermie by introducing a 1 hour light period in the middle of the dark period during 12/12. It stresses the plant out and turns it hermie. This leads me to wonder if a plant that is naturally a hermie will produce feminized seeds if it pollinates itself... the blurb says they use the male pollen and pollinate another plant, so i wonder if self pollination does the same thing.
-
New to CFL growing
This debate won't end. I have read similar things about hermies producing relatively feminized seeds but there ARE down falls. The genetics of the strain would now be weakened and your strain would now be less resistant to stress and more likely to hermie.
To each their own. :stoned:
-
New to CFL growing
Even if it isn't 100% feminized I don't mind. I don't know much about hermies or feminized seeds, but atleast now I will get some first hand experience right? :D
-
New to CFL growing
I've read mixed things on the subject, But I know in order for the seed to be feminized it cant have any male genetics or in other words pollinated by a male. I cant find the link but a grower said that you need to find a female that with as much stress as possible wont turn male. any pros have any comments on this??
-
New to CFL growing
stinky had a way of simplifying this, that was easy to understand. Can't remember what thread that was.
-
New to CFL growing
I would put money down on this is that this is the thread you are talking about Opie....
http://boards.cannabis.com/advanced-...-know-how.html
-
New to CFL growing
No, I think she went into more detail, like a couple good paragraphs. Darn where was that?
-
New to CFL growing
well I'm interested in this also. Please post if you find Opie

It seems that seed from hermies are prone to offspring susceptible to hermie-ing from stress. That, and the debate over feminized seeds still rages, with many advocating that it's pointless and that seeds in good or ideal conditions will have a just as good of a chance to be female anyway. Also, some claim that seed raised in 12/12 light will have a higher chance to be female. Really, all I can gather is do your own research and experimenting.
