Doing a soil system looks really good right now. Having to bring up water and do all the PH stuff is going to suck. I am really debating if it is worth it to do a DWC. I could just pick up 6 3 gallon pots and do that. I ordered a digital TDS and PH meter already, bought the 100 gallon air pump, and I already setup the system. The only problem is that getting water up to the attic is going to be really hard. I can think of only 1 way to do it and it would take an extra $70 of items.
I think I am going to use a 250gph water pump to pump my liquids from my closet up to my attic. I can bring up 2 5 gallon homedepot buckets easily, but I think that just running a pump for 2 1/2 minutes would be easier. If I did that I could just go and buy 3 more 18 gallon tubs for $15 and have two down below, one to pump the water down to, then one with the nutrient solution to pump back up into a second container that I have and I would just take the plants and move them from the old dirty container to the new container.
It really sucks knowing that I am going to have to do a soil grow :( At least I will have supplies for a nice bubbler setup for later (Maybe in 2 months, depends on if my friend who has a apartment right by the dorms I am going to be living in wants some nice homegrown pot)

the best way to really get water up there is just by grabbing a old milk carton/jug and filling them up casually take one up there when noones around, then later another, y go and mess up a good plant just to turn around and mess it up in the 2 months i've been growing only had to fill the 5 gallon bucket 2 1/2 times, and already into 2 week of flowering... which i'm using 4 3 gallon buckets and really haven't had a problem but cannoing of the leaves..

Are you doing a bubbler system? I have to completely change the water supply every 10-14 days, that means bringing around 13 gallons of water up there and 13 or so down every 2 weeks for 8 weeks. Soil is easier and I can just bring a male and a female and put them in a different room with a couple CFLs on them until they pollinate then move the female back after a couple days and get what pollen I can collect from the male. I am trying to make enough seeds where I can do a SCRoG grow next time. I am thinking of planting around 20 lowryders in 1 gallon grow bags, then when they show sex, toss all the males and put females into a scrog.

So far there is only 1 sprouted (the others probably won't germinate because they were partially crushed). I have it under some lights in a small pot filled with Jiffy cube filling (I forgot to buy soil since I was planning a hydro). I set up my first light strip and am working on the second. One light strip goes (42w) (30w) (42w) then the other is going to have (30w) (42w) (30w)

I have had 2 more show a taproot after switching to the paper towel method after they did not sprout. I am hoping to get more Lowryders in the mail today (I hope customs didn't snag em!) since my last order had alot crushed.
Another little update:
I now have 2 light strips that I made from 2 2"x1.5"x2' pieces of wood. There are 3 lights on each one with a (42) (30) (42) light setup. Right now I have them testing on my sun flower (heat and such) and it is growing faster than ever, so I am taking that as a good sign.

I took the babies outside of their closet today to get some fresh air, let the room cool off, and to play in the desert! There is one that is much more developed than the rest, I wish I could say that there was a bud developing already but I don't think there is.
I decided to try to germinate a seed that wouldn't, so I cracked it with some tweezers and put it in some papertowels, and 2 days later, a taproot emerged!
Right now they are in Scotts seedling soil mix, and on a water only diet. I am going to transplant them into larger 1.5 gallon pots with MG moisture control and put em on a ledge kinda on my roof when I go to Copper Mountain in Colorado for spring break, 6 days away from my babies :(

I've been following the thread and I like your work. Keep it up!

I am going out of town for a week and have decided to set them outside since my area gets to hot if I don't ventilate it at least once a day. The weather forecast isn't too bad and they could use a bit of nature's help. My biggest one has a bit of a magnesium deficiency I belive, and I am also transplanting them into bigger pots today, their final pots (well at least the 2 big ones I am.
So 1 boy (first pic), one girl (second) and the rest I don't know! All is well except for my computer fan fell on them and chopped a few leaves when I was moving am around, not bad though.
