He sold three, eight ounce bags of weed to an undercover cop. When dealing with that much weed you would want to have a gun with you, its not like he was dealing an eighth or something. If I was carrying that much weed with intention of selling it I would consider using a gun as protection not intention of killing someone though.

lip he wasn't saying 3/8 of an oz, he was saying he sold 3 bags of weed that weighed 8 ozs each, or 24 ozs total.
