So Damn Insane - Sentenced to death by hanging
actually, I think jake has a good point. This should have gone to the hague, if only to reduce the internal pressures in iraq that forced the country to become even more divided along shite/sunni lines.
And while I suppose the death penalty is inevitable, I think a public hanging is completely barbaric. I thought the whole difference between normal people and people like saddam, and the reason why he had to be removed from power, was that saddam apparently got off on the suffering of others and that was wrong.
Turns out the difference is just who sanctions it.

No doubt he deserves to be hanged. They should have done it the minute they caught him.
Two things that bother me about all this though. The obvious kangaroo court he went through that makes a mockery of the judical system; and secondly, the number of people jerking off to it. Amazing the number of people getting a chubby on the side lines wanting to see someone tortured first. You can tell it has nothing to do with any perverse sense of justice. In a different time they would be the same people with rocks at the stoning of stephen or the crucifixion.
Sure, they tell themselves they have their reasons, but Saddam told himself the same things when he was commiting his atrocities.
