DE is pretty cheap. If it isn't in the garden section, there's some on the pool chemicals section too. Just dust a little. I put mine in a spice jar with the sprinkle cap w the little holes in it... works fine, and my plants smell like gaaaaah-lic.
You can take cuttings as soon as your plant is big enough to take the stress.
thanks...if it wasn't raining then i would go get it now.will take cutting when i can leave at least 3 nodes per plant.another few days hopefully.
now for the expert opinion-should i flower the cutting or the plant.(if i give it 10 or so days after i clone it?and of corse it is ready.)
so you know the goal is highest yeild
Make sure the clone 'took' before you flower the donor, or you'll be left with nada.
To be safe I think you should pinch only the very terminal leaf bud, train the plant, and do cuttings from lower side shoots when they develop. Plus you get way more slips to work with, and believe me, first attempts at cloning often meet with failure... and that is my personal non-expert experience! :D
A good clone cutting will have a terminal bud, some growth right around it, and 2 pairs of fan leaves, of which you remove the lower ones so that you can bury at least one node. That's the fastest place for roots. So if you want to leave 5 nodes on the plant, wait until is has 8 to top. Just my advice, everyone clones a little different. Now I have to go home and bleach my ez-cloner!!!! Have a good one!
i would love to do it that way but i am in a hurry now due to the fact that drywall work is slow in the winter(my grow too is supplimental income)
can i see some pics of your cloner.i was planning on"wick and perlite"cloning due to the fact that i have tried the "bubbler" way and had no sucess.

see that......you guys get me so distracted that my blooming girl didn't get out of the closet for 1\2 an hour longer than she was suposed to.she is grateful to finally be released from the darkness:D so here are some pics of her

Yeah fog i did get a later start then i should have and now i have to rush.:( i usually have a way better outdoor and it gets me farther into the winter than this years did.It is my intention to get a perpetual harvest going....maybe 3 plants every few days.What I plan to do is top the older plants....root the tops and while the tops are rooting letting everything else grow.then when i know i have roots i am going to flower either the cutting or the original plant(cant decide yet maybe i will flower some of each just to see what happens.I will probably flower the cutting though.)then when flowering time comes what isnt getting flowered will move to the closet under some cfl.i am hoping that by then i will be able to take cuttings from the younger plants and get them on their way.
Idea-maybe i wont even take cuttings from the second batch due to the fact that i will have potential moms and dads from the first batch so cuttings of them wont be that important.and maybe i will fim some of them just to see the yeild difference....yes yes maybe i will do that:D
EDIT-question....the plants are in veg on 18-6 but sometimes i have to go in the room when the lights are off.so does slight light polution hurt a vegging plant?
Hey, man. Good luck getting all that straightened out. It hurts my brain to think about all the timing when working with a perpetual harvest system. Cutting, topping, cloning, rooting, vegging, flowering...and how to get it all harmonized...I have a headache... but good luck wiht that.
As far as your light pollution...You shouldn't have to worry too much during veg. But my question is...why are you going in there during dark time? What do you have to do at that time?

well damn i thought of something else i wanted to say
the girls that i have been harvesting were all topped(accidentally,looooong story)about two weeks into flower.just wanted to let people know that even large screw ups are not always enough to ruin a plant.If you do mess up just calm down and take care of them and they will still do pretty damn good.IMO.I can not believe that with all the stresses that these girls went through none of them grew any balls....almost wish the last plant i cut had...would of loved a few seeds from her.she was great!!her high was always good and had no ceiling(?)just smoke and smoke and smoke and get higher with every toke and i never hit the too high mark with her though i do with most all others.even commercial.i almost get a stronger high off of commercial it is just a very dirty one and i find it very unpleasant.i think that i am very sensitive to the chemicals that are more than likely sprayed on them(ferts,pest control,etc.etc)anyway i am done rambling i gotta go take a shower and get ready to go to work.
edit-like today i am gonna make another carbon filter and the fan was in the room so i had to go get it.and i tend to keep $ and other valuables in there since it is the only room i can lock up.
