Americans being bombarded by anti-marijuana commercials
i heard that some kids choke themselves to get high my guess they wouldent be that desperate to get high if they could just chill and smoke some chronic i think thats pretty fucked that our government disencourges a relativly safe way to get high to and that the alternative is people choking themselves now which sounds more harmful smoking a natural herb or cutting of your air to the point where you almost die

This is specifically designed to get the VOTERS, not the SMOKERS motivated. If they can influence grandparents, parents, and other older people who DON'T smoke, those people actually VOTE!!!!!!!!! If people who want the legislation changed would take the time to participate in voting, things might change. Those commercials aren't aimed at teenagers or even adults who already smoke. They are aimed at the voters!
The drug cartel that scares me MOST is the one that produces all the legal prescriptions that we are medicating our society with. And they are certainly behind the commercials downplaying the role medicinal marijuana can have in improving the lives of people who suffer from serious diseases. The only loser if marijuana is deemed to be a legal medicine is the drug company who can no longer have a monopoly on the drugs they prescribe.
I wish more of us would help get things changed by voting out of office jerks who do not reflect your views and put into office people who actually have a mind that isn't controlled by drug companies, oil companies, etc.
Onward!
“If voting changed anything, it would be illegal.” —Emma Goldman
Voting doesn't do shit. What does it accomplish to silently mark on a ballot that you think marijuana should be legal? The people cannot defeat the corporations in the political arena. The corporations have lots of money to fund lobbyists and think tanks and to contribute to politicians, which is why politicians invariably act in the interests of the corporations and not the voters. Plus, any politician is perfectly free to contradict any promise they made on the campaign trail. Remember Jimmy Carter said he was going to decriminalize marijuana? Well, it's still not decriminalized. Voting didn't do it.
Did voting stop the English monarchy? Did voting stop slavery? Did voting stop Prohibition? Did voting stop segregation? No, in all these cases the government had a vested interest in maintaining the status quo and wasn't going to give it up unless it absolutely had to. The system didn't change because people voted for change. It changed because the majority of people wanted change and took to the streets for change. Learn from history. We have to bring legalization about ourselves. The political bureaucracy is not going to do it for us.

man those commercials were made for stoners
it gives me sometime to laugh at
and they piss me off but a person with common sense would realize these commercials are utter bullshit because weed doesn't destroy your morality and you can still make a decision
I've never got hit by a car, flattened into nothingness, or got chased by a dog
because I'm not stupid enough to ride my bike past a car thats about to drive out and go near a guard dog
and all that shit about their friends made them do it, fuck that it wasn't the weed, those idiots need new friends, simple fuckin concept!

Back to weed- Someone should make a pro-marijuana commercial! I wonder if anyone would air it?
Yes meth really does that! If I could I would post you all before and after pictures of my best friend from high school. It breaks my heart and makes me sick. Ruined her life and her beautiful looks. This is one drug to stay away from.:( :stoned:

The only thing i dont have a problem with on the commercials is that they are mostly directed towards teens. I dont know about other states, but in cali....there are probably more adults who smoke than teens. We also have prescriptions for cannabis. I agree with the commercials in that sense because I do not think 14 year olds should smoke weed. I think it takes somewhat of a mature and responsible mind to be able to handle it. But i really do hate those motherfuckn commercials because of how rediculous they make it. I really think you guys should make a commercial.
my commercial would start like graph's but it would show the after effects....the person smoking ciggs would be like smoking out of a hole in her throat, the drinkin dude would be starting a fight with the guy doing meth, and the guy on cannabis would be eating a cheeseburger. LOL
edit: i just saw one of the commercials while i was typing this. lol

The possibilities for pro-weed commercials are endless.
A black guy in a jail cell: "President Bush smoked marijuana. President Clinton smoked marijuana. I smoked marijuana. Why am I the only one in jail?"
It couldn't hurt to throw some statistics in...
"You're told that one joint is equal to four cigarettes worth of carcinogens.Tobacco smoking causes an estimated 5 million deaths every year. In the history of mankind, there has not been one death that has been conclusively linked to marijuana smoking. Harmless? Pretty much."
EDIT: That reminds me. You can find some pro-weed parodies of the "Harmless?" commercials on this guy's web site: http://www.whatthefawk.com/index.php?a=flash

haha speaking of "harmless?" that south park episode where the kid's parents trick them into believing that their future selves come back from time to warn them about drugs. Then Stan and Butters go to the company behind it and all those funnnnyyyy ass posters on the wall. Harmless?
South Park comments on so much, I'm sure it wouldn't be out of their element to make an episode souly dedicated to weed. And they could get away with it, too. It's cable. You can say "shit" now.

I think the newest slogan is "Above the Influence." Yah, that's great. And they are also really pushing the idea that pot makes you totally worthless and lazy, which we all know is oh so untrue. God damn Mongolians. lol.

Those commercials piss me off so much. Blatant lying, and terrible lying too. They are meant to hook the uninformed or impressionable. I just laugh at the stupid kid who tried to outrun the dog.
What about the one with the coinphrase "When you let others make decisions for you you lose your individuality" HYPOCRYTES!!!!

Both of those commercials crack me up and tick me off.
First off, a stoner isn't gonna go play out run the doggy. and secondly, it's usually a drunk kid that tries to fist his mouth. lol
