can't belive u didn't put the rolling stones on there :-(
slayer got there sound from a mix of judas preist, venom, and old beach punk like dick dale, and dead kennedys. unfortunatly i give credit to metallica for shaping what we know as amrican heavy metal. although slayer did perfect it with there raign in blood album. I will say slayer is still the best, because they havn't changed (mutch). still playing balls to the wall earsplitting METAL!Quote:

I wonder what the face of music would've been like had Hendrix made his career with Billy Cox, his old army buddy. He was fine until Chas Chandler brought him to England.
I voted for the Beatles although they are not my favorite on the list. Grateful Dead is my all time favorite and a good portion of the rest of them I'd prefer to listen to over the Beatles. But since the poll really wasn't for "favorite" but "greatest" I think the Beatles definitely deserve that honor. Sure others may have been better musicians but in terms of pure creative talent the Lennon/McCartney team really can't be beat. Look at a song like Eleanor Rigby. A fantastic "classic rock" song with no guitars, no drums, no bass. Just vocals and a string quartet. Not many bands could have pulled it off and certainly no one would have thought about doing it before the Beatles did. They were not just pioneers in rock, they really re-defined what rock could be.
Metallica isn't on there...I'm apalled. You're a disgrace to rockers around the world.
Led Zep, Floyd, Beatles. My top three right there haha

If you go on albums alone i'd say the greatest bands are Floyd and The Moody Blues. Their albums > any others. (imo)
