i agree with your statement to a certain extent. hip-hop is a lifestyle, but it's also a genre of music. hip-hop and rap are not completely different, their roots are intertwined from the beginning. the founders of hip-hip were/are EMCEEs, orginally, M.C.s, short for master of ceremonies, called such because they would talk/or host ceremonies over djs scratching/mixing at block parties and local events. this eventually turned into it's music form, hip-hop. to rap simply means to converse or to talk, or to talk over a beat. hence an emcee is a rapper.Quote:
