Whats the point of even getting a card
lead, it isn't that I disagree with you. I am just old enough that I am cautious, yet I will do what needs to be done to get it legal for everyone in all states, if it helps!
I am afraid as the next person of having my name on a list with the County and State of Calif or for that matter the DEA for all I know. But, if we don't stand up for and claim our rights, no one else will get them nationwide!
Alt. Caregivers was closed last month in Riverside, it may have re-opened by now, not sure! At their prices, they needed to! I couldn't afford them. It is hard to find a reasonably priced place!
Since, the '60's and our 'terrorist laws' civil disobedience doesn't work. So, I am going to work the system within the system, as much as I possibly can! You can bet when I get my first grow going, I'll be much more cautious, too!
I just want to do all I can to further the cause! I have been to Barnes & Noble looking for my mmj books and could not find them. Finally, I asked and sure enough, under the counter--can you believe that?? I just did not want to order on the net and risk my name out there and prefer to go and buy in my hand what I need and want, to keep my credit cards, name clean as it can be!
When Barnes and Nobel puts the books on the shelf and carries High Times, I think it will be a good feeling to know you contributed to the cause. Not to mention the sites that need support for the cause: norml, safe access, etc! Pr
Whats the point of even getting a card
ps101: (almost missed your note) :jointsmile:I was on line here when I realized it was meeting night! Was gonna go tonight and had to go to Dr. today and by the time I got Rx'd etc. was too late! I hope to go to a meeting in the Hi Desert the 3rd Weds-if I do not forget!
I must caution you though, :wtf:there was a person that was growing for a collective of private party mmj patients that was arrested 2 wks ago on the day he was to appear as a witness for a MAPP organizer. No rules were broken, just harassment. Hopefully, since I saw his State card and he has all the proper paperwork for other people in collective, it is seen for what it is. However, you really don't want to go to jail for 2 hours even, if it can be prevented. IN this case, the card did not help. But, I bet it will get the charges dropped, just not the legal fees! Which is why we need to be as cautious as possible!
I'll call about the party, I sure as heck will be there! C U there! PR
For anyone else that is wondering what we are talking about, call: (951) 782-9898 and ask for Lanny: If u get the Portland office, call back when they are in and ask for details! This is a Dr. Office and they allow the use of the conference room for various purpose's! Like us!!:D And it is a great place for anyone in the Inland Empire to go!!
There is a T.V. station on cable 32 in Riverside and Norco every Tuesday at 8P.M. (I do not get that cable); there iS A radio prog. on Monday at 6 PM on KCAA radio 1050AM : And a meeting at the above place every Friday at 8PM with the focus on education! And the socialization!!
A lot of questions I find here, you can and will find the answers of there. And why you'd be interested in having your State card or not. It will always be a personal decision! As long as bagweed is around!
lead: I can see both sides and points of view. At some point, I just feel, I need to do all I can to help keep everyone in all 50 states out of jail! I do not condone or condemn how you feel! It is your right and I respect it! PR
:rastasmoke:
I am sure you saw me last month! I was really ticked I screwed this whole week up. I went last Friday and guess, I just put it on a back burner in my head! I will be at the fund raiser. did u go to the one last Saturday? PR
Ooops, Emo sorry for thread jacking! PR :smokin:

The thing is, by getting the county card to try to cover yourself as it relates to growing you aren't doing yourself or the cause a favor in the State of Kalifornia because you're simply conforming to a perversion of the law by local law enforcement authorities. THEY (LEO) need to be made to comply with the law! We already are.
By the way, been around a few years myself. Long enough to remember some of the dirty tricks for which the FBI became famous under Hoover in his tutu. I'm not sure if you noticed but many of the regulations enacted since then to curb federal authority abuses have recently been removed (under the guise of protecting the American public, of course).
So guess what? We're now back to the good old days; and turning over our names, addresses, and personal business to the feds via a county issued cannabis card ain't doing nobody any favors but those who wish to wipe their asses with the US Constitution, our Bill of Rights, and the principles under which this nation was founded.
I can not and I will not recommend to my fellow citizens that they obtain a document that will assist federal authorities waging their "drug war" against our people. By law in Kalifornia, your doctor's recommendation (maintained like all other medical information confidentially between you and your doctor) to use, possess, and grow cannabis for your medical condition is adequate.
One does not stand up for and claim their rights by handing them over to federal officers even if via county LEO and their tool health departments. One does not futher the cause by bending over the courtroom bannister and allowing the federal prosecutor to ram the bone home. Our job is to finds ways insure that LEO abides by the law and hold them responsible criminally and financially when they don't.
I respect your opinion though, and again; I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

Whats the point of even getting a card
Apparently I exceeded the time limit to edit my post.
I would prefer to have phrased one of my last comments "Our challenge is to finds ways to insure that LEO abide by the law and hold them responsible criminally and financially when they don't".

Whats the point of even getting a card
Plain and simple.....You dont need a card....just grow your own.... stay out of the system.
I been growing for over 15 years...havent bought any weed for 15 years....dont need a medical card... dont depend on a co-op... be self sufficient:thumbsup:
Whats the point of even getting a card
Get a State ID mmj user card---:wtf4:
My county does not issue a card-however, I've heard the LEO may or may not honor one from other counties (as per one person that was caught & released like a bass)! :wave1:
Last night in a Anti-Prohibition meeting. Basically, Lead, you must have been there! Immediately, someone rang out--we are obeying the law. Everyone in that room for the most part is! The problem is the LEO and county non-compliance.
The local MAPP group has a meeting coming up with the Sheriff himself and he wants us to bring a list of what and how we would like them to handle mmj patients. Basically, follow the law!
Unfortunately, the law for them use's the word "JUDGEMENT'--and I am doubtful that word should be given to an over zealous :rambo:LEO, as some don't have any decent judgement or common sense!
Seems the Cal. Hwy Patrol has a reasonable system for dealing with it and a list of their rules will be obtained and reviewed to give to the Sheriff, unless it allows what has been going on. We'll see. If Riverside County comes to the table--that is a start.
So, having a State issued card is a way of saying, 'Look buddy, you have many thousands of people that need mmj legally without the legal problems.' With only a few cards out there, it appears there is no need. The card makes you a serious contender to help get it legalized! The expense is for printing them, as they do so few!!! The more they have orders for the lower the price. And significant discounts are already in place for disabled and low income.
If I were growing where I live and now, I might be a little more tenuous about the idea of getting one (a card). Depending on how the Sheriff's handle it and a new protocol for handling it.
Mostly, it seems the card really is to protect the grower that is growing for more than one--IMHO!
With my little rec--I will do what I can and need to. It allows me to gro and suffice my medical needs. $125.-$150. is just too much a year for a rec made from another Dr. medical records of me! If everyone that needs and/or use's it has a card, it sends a big message--There is a NEED here. With all the groups involved in getting it legal, a card will help the cause (particularly for large grow ops). For the cause, I most likely will get one. I will have to vape on that one a bit! As, my real feelings are-I do not want one and have it issued by the state that gives me my DL. I will fear that a routine traffic stop could be a mess. Since, I was stopped last eve by an LEO and let go without a problem, or having to get out of my vehicle--I was pleased. Would that happen if I had a card and registered with the State and the County like my dog is! I am already registered with DMV for my DL and my professional license (which is expensive).
I do have little faith in the Gov't. I dedicated my road when I made an improvement. They took 1/2 acre free and another 1/2 vanished. Last night I found out why--on the net, they have moved my boundaries! Not to the sites of my survey markers. This is the 2nd time this has happend to me and it sucks! No compensation, other than 'you aren't paying taxes on it!' (the road runs right through the middle of most properties here and not even close to the boundary markers--duh!
I believe a State Registered Card that says you are following the law, is like paying to tell them you are not guilty. It is a double edged razor! If and when my county issue's them and I need one to feel protected to grow (provided I am for another that is not on the property), I would want them to have a card--for my protection. Still not too sure about my own compliance, except my dedication to get it legalized in all 50 and Puerto R.
As case in point is going on now in Riverside County. He did everything right, registered, etc. The charges were basically dropped. However, he is suing the County for infringing on his rights and whatever legal stuff the lawyer came up with. It is a fairly large lawsuit due to all the circumstances. And believed that this is why the Sheriff has finally after years of mmj activist's asking, agreed to a face to face meeting to try to resolve this in future case's. And make written guidelines-protocols for Riv. County, that we favor.
We simply want Calif. LEO's to uphold the law in this state! That has a lot to do with the card. If I were living in Riverside Cty, I would have had to decide by now to get one. But, I don't.
Things will get better. In Montana, they recognize those cards from any State! Another state, as well. By getting them, the States will share and see the people #'s in need. Maybe every state will make it legal and co-operate!! I have no clue what that does for people living in Wash. D.C. though!
The law in CA to legalize it is being promoted as the answer to fill the budget deficit!! Since, most states are in the same position, who cares what reason they use, so long as they legalize! We already pay taxes here--it is figured into the donation in most dispensaries-collective-co-op's. Looks like everyone is gonna be taxed, like crazy.
And Ronnie will be up for pre-trial in the next few weeks, plus his trial starts in about a month--for those interested! Plus, a fund raising party to support his legal defense. for Ronald check and other local news on this::lookat: check out MarijuanaNews.com - The Most Trusted Source for Marijuana and Cannabis News Since 1997 with Richard Cowan :rastabanna:
Our meetings are great. You can pick and choose, what and how much you want to do or watch. Earlier this month, we had a cultivator speak :jawdropper:and an avenue for:giveflower: discount seeds :lovestruck:with the knowledge to grow them was a great topic. Wish I had my own strain, :)I'd be doing that all over the states to promote my seeds. Particularly, if I took many years to develop one :weedpoke:and the hype is hi about it right now. But, a good seed can be sold anytime. I have heard some say, a 3 yr. old seed or strain is 'really an old one!' Except for Kush (similar names you hear in the movies, etc.)-that seems popular for all. So, if you want to teach something in the area of mmj and/or growing :greenthumb:you can check out that newsletter and email requests to speak, if you like. This group has meetings all over S. Cali for everyone . Cochella on the 7th of March!

Hope this is understandable, since I think much faster than I type and use PC--I was unable to edit in 10 min on dial-up that keeps knocking me off line! 10 min isn't enough for bad dial up in remote areas. pr
Whats the point of even getting a card
NO, do not waste your money on a 'card' ... it is only a scam, SOME counties use, to make a few quick bucks ... you do NOT need it, by Law ... all you need, is the doctor's recommendation to use marijuana ... my doctor gives a wallet-sized card, in addition to the full-size letter ... if you don't get one, too, then have a photocopy shrunk to wallet-size ... but, don't waste your money on something that is NOT required, (unless, you have an uncontrollable urge to notify your police force where to look for pot) ... :wtf:
Whats the point of even getting a card
I/R thanks, I do agree with you. If I had to live without mmj the rest of my life I could. Wish I could say ganja was my best friend and partner for life, it just isn't. As much as I love it, I feel I could stay clean, get a card and let them snoop. Finding or making the right strain for me is most important.
Getting the card would be a political statement, San Berdo county will not issue them. Unlikely they will in this economy.
Guess I'll find out just how dedicated to legalization I am! It is a very dubious position.
I'll revisit with you if I decide to go nuts---how is that??? I love your passion in what you believe in and go for, much admiration. And certainly much more experience & wisdom than I!
I'd love nothing more than a Field of Weed-legally. Or a house of it.
For now--I am in a county that does not give cards. I really want to do all I can for the cause. Not sure if I will sacrifice my freedom.
BTW, if you need help with a get away vehicle or bailed out--call! You're always welcome to the utilities and dump use here on the QT if you need when passing thru! If I compromise myself, I'll let ya know! I keep my name off stuff. I simply have my rec.
I am sure growing is a passion of mine. I fear loose lips, I don't care who or what the other person is or does. I don't place my freedom at someone's disposal, unless it is for good cause. I will not intentionally shitcan my life either! I am not going to buy anymore (I hope), one way or another!
Thanks for caring! You, surely have more passion and sense, than I. Enjoy your travels--any sightseeing pics to share lately? I vicariously enjoy your travels! Do you use one of those Verizon Wireless gizmos for satellite?
Ultimately, it is a personal decision! Waiting to see how the political fallout dusts off is the best approach.
