I think I always heard, guns don't kill, people do!
Teachers have enough trouble buying students supplies to be students with. A gun is not a "tool" of that trade, yet? Let the teachers keep buying school supplies.
Guns aren't exactly cheap. Who will pay for them? Train the teachers, etc? The cost of security could be cheaper. If it saves one life!
We have 'Citizen Patrols' here. Where citizens learn and take class's to patrol for weak showing of police. They are posted at the schools. Several during arrival and departure. So, put private citizen's, volunteering to protect the kids! just a thot! :rastasmoke:

u know, none of this would be a point to debate if some1 had made it clear in the constitution in the beginning and we didnt need "interpretation" of the clause by people other than 4 fathers.
many things can be concluded from the simple "right to bear arms"
think about it,
did they mean it as
an individual's right?
or
a collective right?
meaning, did they reserve that right for people to perhaps rebel armed against a non-functioning out of the path government when they talk about militia to defend the people or they meant it for every person to own and have to kill on offense or defense... its not even about hunting, but it makes no sense to me to give people as individuals right to bear arms against each other, for what purpose would such a great article include such a useless clause, the result is what we have seen and yet more to come. and we keep insisting on responding fire with fire, so much for civilization!
and when it gets to making a stance against the government when really needed, we still treat the bastards as freakin saints! like president is sent by god or jesus or some1!
u know what i think, i really think they needed to put a clause in constitution:
Common sense must be considered and used mandatorily by all citizens and agencies and agents of this land!

IT??S a phenomenon that gives the term ??gun control? a whole new meaning: community ordinances that encourage citizens to own guns.
Last month, Greenleaf, Idaho, adopted Ordinance 208, calling for its citizens to own guns and keep them ready in their homes in case of emergency. It??s not a response to high crime rates. As The Associated Press reported, ??Greenleaf doesn??t really have crime ... the most violent offense reported in the past two years was a fist fight.? Rather, it??s a statement about preparedness in the event of an emergency, and an effort to promote a culture of self-reliance.
And it may not be a bad idea. While pro-gun laws like the one in Greenleaf are mostly symbolic, to the extent that they actually make a difference, it is likely to be a positive one.
Greenleaf is following in the footsteps of Kennesaw, Ga., which in 1982 passed a mandatory gun ownership law in response to a handgun ban passed in Morton Grove, Ill. Kennesaw??s crime dropped sharply, while Morton Grove??s did not.
To some degree, this is rational. Criminals, unsurprisingly, would rather break into a house where they aren??t at risk of being shot. As David Kopel noted in a 2001 article in The Arizona Law Review, burglars report that they try to avoid homes where armed residents are likely to be present. We see this phenomenon internationally, too, with the United States having a lower proportion of ??hot? burglaries ?? break-ins where the burglars know the home to be occupied ?? than countries with restrictive gun laws.
Likewise, in the event of disasters that leave law enforcement overwhelmed, armed citizens can play an important role in stanching crime. Armed neighborhood watches deterred looting in parts of Houston and New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Precisely because an armed populace can serve as an effective backup for law enforcement, the ownership of firearms was widely mandated during Colonial times, and the second Congress passed a statute in 1792 requiring adult male citizens to own guns.
The twin purposes of self and community defense may very well lie behind the Second Amendment??s language encompassing both the importance of a well-regulated militia and the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. As the constitutional and criminal law scholar Don Kates has noted in the journal Constitutional Commentary, thinkers at the time when the Constitution was written drew no real distinction between resisting burglars, foreign invaders or domestic tyrants: All were wrongdoers that good citizens had the right, and the duty, to oppose with force.
Greenleaf??s ordinance is consistent with this approach. But it may also serve another purpose.
Experts don??t think the Kennesaw ordinance, which has never actually been enforced, did much to change gun ownership rates among Kennesaw residents. And, given that Greenleaf??s mayor has estimated that 80 percent of the town??s residents already own guns, the new ordinance can??t make all that much of a difference. But criminals are likely to suspect that towns with laws like these on the books will be unsympathetic to malefactors in general, and to conclude that they will do better elsewhere.
To the extent that??s true, we??re likely to see other communities adopting similar laws so that criminals won??t see them as attractive alternatives. The result may be a different kind of ??gun control.?

I am only guessing but I would be willing to bet that most of the weapons used in school shootings are owned by the culprit and also fully legal.[/QUOTE]
Then you would be wrong. At least in the US. That is why gun control never works, the criminals don't follow the laws anyway, so you only take guns from the law abiding.

I just gotta pu my 2 cents in. As a concelled carrying permit holder, I dont see anyproblem here. All of you who are asking or questioning the armed teachers aim or knowlege of a teachers combate effectiveness. You obviously live a differant life than a Texan Or a NEw Mexican. Fire arms are a way of life here. When I was in elementary it was mandatory for students in 6th grade to take hunters and firearm saftey, just like drivers ED in highschool. Every one in my town was armed and their was no fear from anyone, basicaly everyone respected eachother. And if you have never taken a coras of been with people that know what their doin with firearms, then you are missing out. Because in evey country in the world fire arms are around, and if you dont know how to act around a gun that is safe then how are you gonna know what to do when a gun is pointed at you? I was in a country that I will not say about 3 years ago. Guns are outlawed their, the government said it is harder to get a gun than a nucler wepon. My first day their one of my friends friends asked me if I need some prtection for my trip, and handed me a 38 revolver and a teq nine semi auto 9mm. when countries take the wepons away from the people they only stay in the hands of people who should not have the wepons in the first place. In that situation, I still had no fear, even though the wrong people had the wepons. Being where I am from, I had more knowlege about those wepons and their wiielders, that I knew if some kind of situation happened, I would still be in control even though I was att a wepons dis advantage.

A weapon in the hands of a fool is a dangerous thing and in the hands of the unstable you just know it's got to go pearshaped.
Most crimes stopped by guns are done without a shot ever being fired. Most criminals shit their pants just from seeing a gun.
Where are these teenagers going to get "a pile of automatic weapons" ,automatic weapons are illegal unless you have a FEDERAL permit, and they don't give those out very freely. The news media talks a lot about automatic weapons, proving they know nothing about which they speak. You can't go to a gun store and buy an automatic weapon.

whats wrong with people patrolling thier own??? most people from these areas in question have the same knowlege most cops do in an armed situation. Our areas are full of ex cops vets, basicaly people who are not afraid to police their own even from the poilce if need.
their is no such thing as an untrained teacher

Just because it isn't legal to buy doesn't mean it can't be bought , after all in most places cannabis is illegal.

Well actually they are also illegal to manufacture for the general public. And NONE, I repeat NONE of the school shootings in this country were done with an automatic weapon!!!
The gun that kills the most is a .22.
"Yeah because we all know a criminal is going to get his weapon from a legit source."
