Are you freaking crazy? Do you hear yourself?
Maybe YOUR a Leech off society and the world but I am not. And neither are most of society. Sacrifice yourslef. Leave everyone else out your crazy "Oh woe is me and the world / Some people are bad so everyone should suffer" rant.
Ha, hardly crazy. You aren't a leech hmm? And what makes you say that? Because you recycle? Because you drive a hybrid car perhaps? No, all humans in this modern world (well, at least the ones who live in developed countries) are leeches. We shamelessly extort from each other, kill, steal, do everything in our power to ensure that we are top. Oh sure, we might give some people a helping hand every once and a while, provided it doesn't make them too powerful or independent.
Also, I'm not "woe" whatsoever, I'm actually very stoked about life right now. Do I think the world SHOULD suffer? God know, I'm a pretty average, normal human being. Some people are bad, and they just so happen to know how build and launch nuclear missiles. THEY are the ones who are going to destroy us. It's not that I want it to happen, it's just going to and there's almost nothing any of us can do to stop it. I've simply stopped lying to myself when most of the world hasn't.
Also you haven't answered my question. Why do we deserve to live? What is so amazing about humanity?

Depends on the situation. If they are extremely hostile we might have to strike.
Hostility is irrelevant. The only point that makes any difference is whether or not they do what we tell them to. If they don't, they die. If they do, they live another day.

Humanity is an amazing thing. We help people who need it. For example what about all the people who give millions to help children with terminal diseases like cancer? When I was going through chemo people where coming out of the wood work to help any way they could.
What about with natural disaasters hit and people selflessly go down to the area to help? What about the human will to try to cure diseases and hunger in countries like Africa?
Theres so many good people in this world. And humans aren't perfect but nothing is. Good people greatly outnumber the bad. And if they didn't the whole world would be in ruins now. And it's not. Not even close.

You haven't seen most of the world.
But I suppose this is where the argument ends and we simply have to agree to disagree.
I firmly believe that humans are born not evil, but nearly 100% selfish and are concerned with themselves as their primary goal and responsibility. However this isn't unusual, as all creatures of this earth act the same (as far as I know anyway). I DO agree that there a lot of good people, and it's good to see the reaction from people with your chemo. However, I believe there are WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY more terrible people than good, myself included. I admit, if I didn't know someone personally (like, in my family or a good personal friend of mine) I doubt I would so much as lift a finger to help them with their chemo. In fact I'd probably start forgetting about that person as soon as I stopped hearing whatever I was hearing, if not sooner. Am I terrible? Yes, most likely. But am I unusual? Not even a little bit.
You, most likely, believe the exact opposite, that people are good and that it's the few who make things bad for the many, while I believe that the many are to blame for everything, because without the many things don't happen.
We'll simply have to just disagree. But that's ok rebgirl, I still love ya and I'm glad we've had such an invigorating conversation

I figure the worst case scenario is someone DOES acquire nukes without anyone finding out, or builds them fast enough to get away with it, yeah, they'll launch them.
im not saying it's likely to happen soon or anything, but in the progression of things, a nuclear arms race could blow up in our face, no pun intended.

This reminds me of all the Soviet Union drama haha.
A nuclear attack is a very real possibility. But we have to bank on the fact that if someone does end up launching a nuke then their country has a VERY high chance of being destroyed right back.
But oh well. What can you do? Just sit back and pray it doesn't happen when your alive.

True that. I take back that "lets destroy now to protect the future" stuff. Fuck them, they're on their own. I'd prefer to survive for another 50 years or so. I always get passionate about politics and religion, then I stop and think for a moment. I always end up at the same conclusion; "What am I going to do about it? Oh yeah. Nothing. Oh well."

"praying" hasn't caused anyone to not do something. In fact, that would be the very last thing i'd do to stop an attack.
reminds me of a hilarious refrigerator magnet that said something like, "the allies in WWII tried to get supplies to some place that was getting bombed for days and days. However the bombing was so bad they couldn't deliver the supplies. Then a article was published in a newspaper to tell ppl to all pray at a certain time (like 7PM PST) for the bombings to stop, and after like the 12th day of this designated praying time, the bombings stopped."
it later said how powerful god and praying was to stop those bombings.
this magnet was on my moms fridge and i threw that POS away, because .... any rational and sane person could tell you.... THAT IS JUST RETARDED.
i chuckle as i think about it now... i guess we should all pray at one time, and "flood" that god with all these wonderful praises to stop IRAN from whatever the news is telling us their doing.

God has a new Spam filter to keep his inbox from being flooded this way.
