Have a good one!:s4:
You know what would help "Joe Consumer" buy more American made products?? More taxing on import products and give incentive for companies to make products here in the US again, but that would require bipartisan effort which we know is not going to happen anytime soon.

My check just arrived today. I sure am glad they sent me a heads up letter last Monday to tell me my check would arrive this Monday. If they sent out 170 million of these letters at 43 cents each, that's $73 million well spent I'd say! "Psych! This ain't your check, but it should come next week!" Way to go, guys.
Well, even though I am totally against the idea of this stimulous check, it's not going to stop me from enjoying it. Some of it will go to a vacation later next month, and some will go to pay down a HELOC that we drew on for some home improvements earlier in the year.

Well, Stinky, I hope you got something you can use to "stick it to the man!" That'll teach the government to waste our tax dollars on this kind of ass-kissing, election-year pander.

Well, Daihashi, nice to agree with you on something....

I simply do not see how this would help by playing with market demand. Cheaps goods are produced somewhere else to help the bottom line of American companies. The consumer wants cheap goods at cheap prices. Overall, it helps American companies bottom lines, which creates more ventures for more jobs.
I can't see how this is a good idea when the weak dollar is already making America become a more attractive destination to manufacturing.

What tax rebate?
I didn't get one. If I had, I'd have spent it on golf supplies or green fees.

As for my rebate, uncle sam totally raped me this year to begin with so this rebate just patches up my finances a bit.

I think I'll use my Gov money to stimulate the local economy. Wait. . .
Hookers count as local economy right?
Just kidding.
No actually I got some Hookers.
Not really though.
But yeah.
No. . . :D
Seriously I think my Gov money will wind up going to student loans. So in other words right back to the Fed. Ahhhhhh good times. Ill have to keep part of it for some weed though. Kind of a way to stick it to the man like "Haha you gave me money and I spent it on something you have deemed illegal." :P

I don't think The Man is quite ready for that. I'll mention it to him next time I see him, though... :wtf:

I think it was not a good idea, but gladly took it! You cannot fix money problems with more money, well, unlesss you win the few hundred million dollar lottery! There has to be a system in place that can make it grow and reduce our long term costs, toward things we need that cost too much.
Another dumb idea. It has been overshadowed by the elections! I liked the money though!
Apparently, it is part of a "total economic stimulus package!" I have no idea what the rest of it is. But, I've heard Pres. Shrub say, 'give it time to work!' :wtf:
It really isn't enough for each individual to do much; i.e. like make a house payment and get out of foreclosure. Most people won't toss it in a sinking ship! That is where I think he thought it go. Last house payment the Prez. made, may have been that low. No longer the case!
Putting mine into growing! :thumbsup:That will ultimately lower my prescription costs to Medicare. Which isn't much, since they hardly cover much through my HMO! The less I spend on 'deductibles' for meds, the more I my particular HMO makes! In fact, the Drs. there get a 'rebate' for prescribing fewer medications. I phoned Medicare and they do not care, said, I gave up my rights for any support from Medicare when I 'flipped' my medicare into an HMO! Nice way for no-one to be responsible! Yes, I know I need to change my HMO plan, but I need a couple of my Docs until the ultimate surgery is finished!

Its gonna take time for it to have the desired effect... changing global economies doesn't happen over night. The problem I have with this is just as soon as the Dems take office, they are going to raise taxes to cover it and more. I can't afford any more taxes... I am already paying 32% of my net profits in taxes.
Fortunately, for me right now the house payment is not a big issue, because its on a 5% 15 year fixed rate, and will be paid for in just another 3 years or so.

1. Imports cause the value of our money to go down because we are sending our money outside of the United states. Increasing the value of other countries monetary unit and not our own.
2. If we increase taxes on imports we increase our foreign currency holding which in turn increases the Strength of the dollar.
3. The more you export then the more money you're making through foreign trade. Which means you're making money, which means you're indirectly increasing the strength of the dollar.
4. Let's not forget the increase of the job market and an increase in domestic spending if you are penalizing imports and giving incentive to domestic made products/companies. This itself would stimulate our local economy creating more oppurtunity for everyone. People shop at walmart for a reason... same idea; give incentive for companies to make cheap quality goods in the US and people are going to buy whatever they can get the best deal on; might as well be American and keep that money here in the United states.
That's my thoughts on it anyway.
