i suppose the rede would be the basic guideline. outside of that there is really no basis to critisize peoples methods.
You said so much about that SaveMe that I felt I had to until I got to your post. Bravo you were so right on the money with your assessment.
SaveMe420, why don't you leave the judgements to the conservatives? We have enough of them running around right now. Pagans(of which wiccans are a part) are supposed to be a little more open minded. BTW, the word Wicca is Latin and it means male witch, and the word Pagan is basically the same as our Redneck or Hick. You see when the Catholic church first started growing it could only afford to build churchs in the more densely populated areas, leaving the farmers and other rural people to continue worshiping their Gods and Spirits they had always known.
Pagan is a broad term, but Wiccan is a specific belief structure with foundations in Paganism. While Wiccans have of late been diversifying the structure of their covens and such, that doesn't mean that witchcraft is not still a part of wicca. Wicca means witch, and craft kinda goes with the territory. I think You need to open your heart up to greater possibilities in life and in spirit.
Whatever is true for you is true for you
Whatever is true for me is true for me
Doesn't mean that our beliefs must contradict each other
Please think of that next time you tell people what their religon is.
nancyrenee got it right. I live in the woods and have a sacred circle there where I recognize the four elements or directions and have a spiritual ceremony, well maybe ceremony is too strong a word, but I am peaceful person, love nature and the earth as all pagans do. Did you ever wonder what the hell Christmas tress and lights had to do with the birth of Christ? Well, all of that is adopted from paganism. Pagans used to decorate with flowers lights and colorful things to celebrate the winter solistice. Most christianity celebrations came from pagans. It would be a better place if people forgot the dogma of religion and practiced true love of all things on this earth.
Pray for peace.
maybe ritual was a better word? what is your spiritual ceremony if you care to share it itd be most interesting! maybe i can incorporate something new. right now i just do a lot of candle magick theres not a lot of ritual involved besides focusing and connecting... i know thats just being lazy but hey its better than nothing. does that even "count" as praticing the craft
You got it, ritual is the word. You can make your own ritual with candle magic. That's what is part of being pagan, if you aren't hurting any living thing, you are accepted by all who believe in pagan. I am a solitary pagan and when I go to some pagan events, which are few, I am still accepted be everyone even tho I do not attend their places of rituals. One of my simple rituals that I will share. I walk down a long path into the woods to my sacred circle. I look straight up and give thanks for the beautiful day and for basically being alive to enjoy another day. I then face east, which is the element air, the season spring, then south, fire and summer, west, water and fall, north, earth and winter. Recognizing the four directions helps me to remember my connection on this earth. Before I leave my circle, I remind myself to strive to channel love and light from my being.
Hope I haven't rambled on.
hi willow..that sounds like a simple yet effective ritual. (simple + effective being the best combination)
so are you solitary by choice or would you prefer others? for me, its so much easier to do spells and rituals alone, without people trying to judge me ya know? but on the other hand, a coven can probably cast some powerful magick, depending on how adept the members...and how potent the pot? hehe
tip: a good place to try and start/join a coven is actually www.meetup.com do a search in your home town for witchcraft or witches or pagans. you get the idea. i tried it and i met about 10 witches in my area. unfortunately they werent very knowledgable. oh well :)
hi euphoric, I actually prefer to be alone. I do know several witches in my area and have only invited one to my circle. She is trying to get me to open up to other people but I am taking it slow. I have always been a loner all my life so it's hard to open up. I live near a small logging town and most of the people are not open to witchchcraft so I have to keep it quiet (along with my smoking habits.) I did a spell for good fortune and luck the other night and an owl landed in a tree near my circle. Is that a good omen or what. He is living now in my woods and I have named him Hagrid. I think I get along better with nature and wildlife and my dogs than I do with people. But I try to keep love in my heart for all - for you too. Thanks for your interest, it does make me feel like I am a part of something. Willow PS I will check out that website.
oh an owl! thats one of my main animal spirits guides i do believe (shamanism) so thats kind of a coincidence. sorta... (i also have a lil hagrid "action figure" it lives on our kitchen table)
aah i'd hate to live in a logging community. gotta love those trees :)
yesh you should find that link helpful i hope... its one of the best i do believe...lots of spells and a particularly interesting resource on faeries and the ilk.
any way, back to the owl...according to native american shamans the owl represents
Stealth,Secrecy,Silent and swift movement,Seeing behind masks,Keen sight,Messenger of secrets and omens,Shape-shifting,Link between the dark, unseen world and the world of light,Comfort with shadow self and Moon magick
heres where i get that kinda info..

Living in a logging community is kind of awful. I sometimes pass places that once had trees and then ond day they are all gone. I am fortunate to have 10 acres in the woods and no one can touch my trees. I even have some second growth growing. I feed the deer apples, they actually come to me when I call them. I also have elk roaming around but they are so big so I haven't tried to make good friends with them. they are more frightened of me than the deer are. Have lots of other wild life too, coyotes, lots of birds. I am trying to make a refuge for them so no one will harm them. Lots of hunters up here too. I don't eat any kind of animals and I think that the deer know that because during hunting season my deer population grows. When I see Hagrid, I will think of you. Thanks for all the info on those websites. I'll look at them tonight or tomorrow morning. Peace be with you, thanks for "talking" with me. Willow
