I agree that you shouldn't hold it against him for smoking weed, but lying to the government isn't the only people he lied to. He lied to his employer. The NFL is a job and should be considered one. They get paid millions upon millions of dollars to perform on the field and some would argue, their image and roll model image is important also. If I lied to my boss, and he found out, I would either get fired or a strict punishment. The NFL(the boss) gets lied to all the time and their "employees" get a slap on the wrist basically. In the real world, you break the rules and you get fired. In the NFL, you break the rules and you get fined $5000 which isn't even a percentage of what you make a year.
Athletes who make mistakes in the NFL and break NFL rules get a slap on the wrists, but once they breaks REAL WORLD rules, they are confronted by the real world punishments. These punishments are real.....not a slap on the wrist.

I'm going to a chicken fight, this afternoon. Is that illegal? We breed chickens, in fact, most of them are born because of us. If you make an axe, you can cut vegetables with it, also.
Dog fighting is just wrong. Those dogs may have never seen this earth if it weren't for it. That's the reason why we're overpopulating. People just want to make more of stuff so they can fight with it.
Everyone should go to the doctor and erase professional wrestling from their brain, then get a chip for it that tells you that "Pot is God".

He got a standard sentence for someone who has contributed to a big dog fighting ring, and killed innocent animals, as well as violated probation.
If Tom Brady were put in this exact situation, he would be prosecuted just as harshly as Michael Vick did. Are there injustices in our justice system? Yes, BUT Michael Vick got justice.
If you want an example of someone who is in the spot light such as Michael Vick, although not an athlete, that still got jail time. Look at Paris Hilton. 45 days in jail for violating probation...well 3 times lol but still. She still got jail time and she didn't participate in illegal dog fighting rings, kills multiple dogs, lie to the NFL, breach her contract, smoke marijuana on probation, etc.
Must have been a race issue with Paris eh? oh wait, it wasn't.
prais served like 23 days..... put paris in that house on that proerty u think she gets 23 months???? I don't and you said it yourself THREE violations- thats what it took for something to happen to her
and to all this vick hating going on-it can stop now, he did the crime now hes doin his time, and in 23 months he will be another member of society just like me and you so just stop. we all have made mistakes and we have moved on and we expected others to move on and forget about them too. i truly think hes learned something from this
and btw there are lots of people that protested for him, but that doesnt make for good news, they like to make people look like the devil so they only show the people there against him
he admitted it, hope they put him away for a long time.
KILL THAT SCUM FUCKER!
I cannot BELIEVE how many of you are trying to 'justify' his actions. I'm pretty much disgusted entirely right now, thinking that I've had the faith in the 'cannabis community' to represent goodness.
Honestly, if I EVER see that ignorant fuck in public, I just may end up with a black eye and a jail sentence MYSELF. Dont even think I'm kiddin', you know what they say; it's not the size of the dog in the fight; it's the size of the fight in the dog;)

im in no way trying to justify his actions but tell me that a strict conservative white judge sentencing a young black male that has been portrayed as a "thug" isnt gonna come down harsher then someone sitting up there who is more like him, white, you are turning a blind eye to the shades of racism that sadly do still exist
and the sad thing we are turning a blind eye to harsher crimes JENA-6 (also black males)
was going on at the same time, did something wrong but nevertheless still occurs everyday, and they were sentenced to something outrageous (im not really quite sure) and yeh you saw some protesters of their sentence but they were from their home town they were friends and family, you didnt see flocks of random people trying to fight for their young lifes and keep them out of jail did you? I pretty sure there sentences were lifted since then though, but its the point that people are willing to fight soooo hard for vick to be in jail, but at the same time wont lift a finger to help people who are being fucked by the legal system.
lets see i see a black man that had everything he could want but still thought he could do what he wanted to do and not have to answer for it i mean he had plenty and that was not good enough so that tells me it was'nt for the money but the fact he thought he should be able to do whatever he wants and get away with it and i will say im not surprised that the race card would be involved just like it does in everything of it's because there black like the jena6 all the blacks protested that let them go they did nothing wrong all they did was all 6 of them jumped 1 lil white kid almost to death whats wrong with that.let them go the thing is if it was the other way around 6whites on 1 black it would be a hate crime. nice
he admitted it, hope they put him away for a long time.

But yet you say people WERE supporting Vick. Which one is it? Do people fight for him or are people fighting against him? Of course its both.
Use facts for your "its race" comment. According the the
Animal Fighting Prohibition Enforcement Act in 2007, suggested jail time is up to 3 years and in some states 5 years. Now, Vick got how many MONTHS? And how many months will he ACTUALLY serve? But yet, you say its race, this white judge, came down on him harsh. I say Bullshit.
And Paris violated probation by DRIVING....thats all. Sure she had a suspended license but she wasn't out there killing innocent dogs or funding illegal dog fighting operations.
He will server his time, but to say this is based on race, is absurd.

He may or may not be able to take on guys one on one but it's prison Spoken Word. They do things in groups and not one on one, hence the term gang rape in the shower room. His only saving grace might be that a gang will protect him or no one will want to get herpes from him. If he wasn't going broke he might be able to afford protection.
You said you can't criticize him for smoking weed (which I think at that point he was on house arrest) but you did criticize him. Granted it was a stupid stupid move on his part but there are many people who when faced with the same situation might have done the same thing. Facing 5 years in prison, losing tens of millions of dollars if not easily one hundred million dollars, watching your career go down the shitter, being made fun of constantly, becoming one of the most hated people in the U.S., people are protesting you in the streets, etc etc etc, many people would say fuck it or be depressed or feel they have nothing to lose or decide this might be a temporary escape from the pain and smoke some pot. There's people on here all the time on probation smoking pot. He should have signed up here and learned how to possibly beat his drug test. Not doing that was even more stupid. Granted pot isn't physically addictive but drug addiction can turn a mother against her own baby. Don't be so shocked that someone who smokes pot lit up while facing prison time.
Yeah that's right. They aren't locking up criminals but rather innocent people who were falsely convicted of crimes they didn't commit. Oh wait, they were criminals but the great prison system has changed their evil ways and they're now reformed.:wtf::what:
I'm not going to hold lying to the government against him. We are entitled to protection against self incrimination. It would have been smarter to say nothing. Did he actually get questioned by investigators/prosecutors or did he just lie in public and to the NFL?
Don't think for a second I'm supporting Vick but I'm not going to hold lying to the government and smoking pot against him.
Good points.. I agree.. But prison isn't all it's jacked up to be. Most prisons don't let the lifers and the sentenced folk interact. So what you have is a bunch of either reformed citizens trying to get out or careless criminals trying to get out to commit the same crimes. Nowadays, you have to either WANT to get in a fight or you're asking for it. Vick will most likely ask for it with his "hard" presence. and im sure SOMEONE will love to fight him.
and sorry FakeBoobsRule, i don't respect him like the guy trying to get over his problems before getting sentenced and smoking a little weed. so yes, i contradicted myself and did criticize him but because like i said, he isn't the average joe trying to forget his issues before going away for a looong time.
Micheal Vick gets paid like a "upper-echleon" human being....most people even treat him like one....he should AT LEAST try to act like SOMEWHAT of an upstanding citizen. Not like the guys he builds his image around. that's just it..... most "gangsters" are trying to make money to get out of the "life". Micheal Vick brought his $130,000,000 to the "hood" and on top of that, he used some of his athletic-profit to start a dog-fighting enterprise..... that's exactly what the little gangster fucks do. but this guy did it being a national superstar, AND SOMETHING TELLS ME that he had enough money so, most-likely, he did it just for street fame.
so, you say you're not defending him, but you are. if you see any positive reason in ANYTHING he has done, except maybe turn himself in early, than you are defending him. and this isn't a race issue to me, ever since Virginia Tech, I have not liked, respected or praised Vick. These dog-fighting charges were the last straw.
but again, i see where you are coming from and it's great; just because he fucked up doesn't mean we have to put him on a stake.
that's typical tree-hugging, pot-smoking, love-everyone speak.
I see this as a guy who, like the commercial says, "touched the lives of millions in an instant". and on top of that, got paid for it. any responsible person would appreciate their position and cut the bullshit. micheal vick didn't cut the bullshit, he brought it on himself.
so yea, as "non-hippie" as I sound, i'll put him on a stake and hope that NEGATIVE black america starts realizing that all this "ghetto" shit is self-destructive.
but to you and every member on this board I say, take care and farewell....:hippy:

Why not hold him responsible, fakeboobsrule? because we lie to the government everyday?? by smoking pot??? i bet few people on this board, or anyone you know, would smoke pot on FEDERAL probation while waiting for FEDERAL charges. you have to be STUPID to think they aren't going to test you. and here you are thinking micheal vick smoked a peaceful bowl to clear his mind before getting jailed................
get real, he smoked a blunt with his homies, degrading women and god knows what else. he doesn't see weed like we do.......heck, ricky williams sees weed like we do, not micheal vick.
so you don't want to hold lying to the government against him? again, why not?? he isn't your normal citizen.. he gets paid like someone special, so he should act like someone special and deal with what he did. not lie to almost EVERYONE around him and try to "beat the case". I mean think about it, you're basically giving him the chance to not get punished for the crimes he commited. fuck that, i will hold him responsible for lying to everyone after getting caught.
he admitted it, hope they put him away for a long time.

Ever heard this before:
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
It's the fifth amendment. No where does it say that your rights against self incrimination are dependent on how much money you make or your status in society. How many times I would like to see a suspect beaten to within inches of his life to give up information but that would be wrong and once you start making exceptions then none of us have any rights. By making sure the people that deserve the rights the least are afforded their rights makes sure that those that should have them do.
I think it's very short sided of you to blast him about smoking pot in this manner. Yes it was stupid but you can't know what was going through his head when he smoked. Then to just sit there and say he gets high and degrades women while other people are good pot smokers sounds like some kind of government propaganda. Doesn't the government and those against pot try to make pot smokers out like demons and evil and sensationalize the evils of pot but you're going to turn around and point the finger at him like his way of smoking pot is worse than your way or your way is better? If he's not robbing people to buy pot then I don't see how his form of pot smoking is so bad. Stupid yes, bad no. I can't even put into words how fucked up this is what your doing. You're doing to him what the government does to all of us. Anslinger started the whole anti-marijuana propaganda by saying that pot smokers were evil violent low lifes and now you (I imagine you smoke or use marijuana) are now going to turn around and do the same thing to Vick? Stupid yes but does smoking pot while awaiting sentencing make him a worse person than he already is, no. Not only does this parallel what the government does but also when an alcoholic points the finger at a pot smoker and puts them down.
He's an idiot and a loser for betting on dog fighting, breeding dogs for fighting, and killing dogs and treating them badly. Should he burn that much more because he smoked while awaiting sentencing? Not in my book.
he admitted it, hope they put him away for a long time.

Agreed.
