Simple and easy aren't necessarily the same thing.
It's simple to quit smoking. You make a commitment to stop, then you follow through with it. Despite the fact that it's simple, it can be extremely difficult because depending on who you are, how long you've been using, and how much you've chosen to excercise your willpower in the past, withdrawal from an addictive substance can be incredibly uncomfortable and even downright painful. That goes for any addiction, not just smoking.
But you can quit, and when I say that I speak from experience. Willpower isn't something that each person has a predetermined amount of. It's a choice. The more you exercise your willpower, the less difficult it becomes to cope with the pain and discomfort that comes with it.
