Sorry friendowl.
You did all you could. Even if it didn't work out for the best, your intentions and actions make you a hero (like GraziLovesMary said).
I'm sure this is on your mind and it seems like it's making you feel like shit. I want to say cheer up, but easier said than done. You just gotta deal with it and let it pass. It's strange how things like this happen, they just happen. As predictable as life can be at times, it's always a thousand more times unpredictable at all times.
It's hard to see someone die, it's even harder when a young life is cut short. Innocence comes with youth, no one young should have to die. But it happens, that's just the way it is. That's life, you just gotta accept it, and that can be the hardest part. It makes you look at things different. We shouldn't take the time we have for granted, it can be gone in an instant. If anything friendowl, please cherish the time you have. We're here for you on the boards. With life in perspective, now's a good time to spend with those close to you. They'll be a shoulder to lean on, and you'll let each other know how much you mean to each other. And we'll still be here for you, if you ever need anything.
You didn't have to try, but you did. Your actions say a lot about you. You don't wake up thinking this would happen, but it did and you stepped up where others just watched. You're a better person for what you did. You might feel alone, but know that the kid is probably watching over your sholder as we speak, so don't ever feel alone.
