Hey, TX Girl. Yeah, it's nice. No, we didn't put the room in. We bought this house about a year and a half after another couple built it. They had to move for his job, and so we got a good deal on a next-to-new house. They built it with that reinforced room. I think they must have been safety freaks or something. She was from Wichita Falls originally and had lived through that terrible tornado in 1979. They used steel for the framing and also put in a sprinkler system, not just in the yard but inside the house, too, in case of fire. I think think that may be part of the building code here for houses of this size anyway. Then they put that concrete-reinforced room in the middle. With the steel frame and the way the place is designed, it'd practically take a direct hit from an F-5 tornado to blow the place away. The "tornado room" is sorta tucked under one of the staircases and is a place I'd have loved to go hide out in as a kid. We use it for storage and keep flashlights in there and a weather radio. Only have used it once, so far, when there was a tornado warning that a storm was tracking right for this area, but fortunately it skipped back up and went north of here. I had all the kitties and doggies in their crates and had moved them in there. Turned out it was only a little twister that blew some shingles off people's roofs and took some fences down. Isn't Texas great?
